This is good advice. You might want to cover the use of FXP more extensively though. Until this year I was using mine to get FXP ships but when they took those away I started saving mine up to reset a line to get RB points. I snagged Ohio using 90% FXP to reset a line this last February and have been hoarding my FXP since then because there was nothing else in RB I was desperate to get. Before the end of snowflakes I intend to bump several of my tech lines that are at tier 9 to tier 10 for additional containers. Haven't decided if I want to start resetting lines again for RB ships after the New Year or not. I do kinda want Siegfried but what I really want is to finish out as many tech lines as I can. I'd also remind anybody who cares to never ever ever sell a premium ship. Even if it's a port queen you will never ever play don't get rid of it or you will likely end up getting it back in a container.
No ships out of the crates yet. But I did get Mecklenburg with the steel I have saved up over the year and got Anhalt from all the coal from knocking off snowflakes on the ships I own. The free tier 10 I got for the expedition event was Golden Lion the tier 10 Dutch cruiser. Cause I already own Schlieffen and am not for carriers, destroyers or submarines.
Coal to Steel is 10-1 10 coal is 1 steel. You can use steel to make up the difference on a coal purchase, but you cannot use coal to make up the difference in a steel purchase. Coal is easier to obtain. Just getting your daily crates can get you up to a few thousand every day. But steel is only obtainable by playing ranked in sufficient quantity. Super containers really are trash these days. Rarely get anything better than boosters out of them.
Steel also can be earned through event/battle pass progression, dockyards and most importantly through clan battles. Yes it is harder to obtain but ranked is not the only way to get it.
buying cheaper ships to get them out the rotation is not an advice id give to ALL players... imagine the guy who started out in june of this year or last year he has 2 or 3 coal ships and is looking to get a new one then he sees that "advice" and picks 3 or 4 ships of tier 5/6 instead of the ship he really wanted like malta or gk or Brisbane... he effectively traded one good ship he could get for 4 that he wont use because u said so... so just get what u want play like u like... also burning coupons on coal ships is fine if u know ur not gona get steel to get another ship in the next 6 months...just get what u like....
He is obviously talking about maximizing the economy of the game and not talking to casual players. Casual players don't come to TH-cam to watch videos about tips and tricks to maximize events, they just login and play whatever for a hot minute and then log out.
out of 7 i got 2 ships(Ise and Yukon{all the commonwealth ships now}) , unfortunately i keep getting commander xp.(waste like getting credits) did get 2500 gold so got the event pass for ship and all the goodies for grinding out my t9 ships. steel is a year long grind hard to do if you don't play constantly. old game now ( yet better then wot)
been in this game since beta i never have free exp and never accumilate steel enough to be worth it so i only buy coal ships and im always out of credits and ive never once spent real money on this game and the santa containers are fkn rigged never get ships in em
Well... do you have premium account? That helps a lot. Realistically, they hand out so much premium time in this game that I never have to buy it. In the Kitakame event, I burned over 1000 days of premium time that I had gotten in Super Containers and Santa's Gift Containers. Second, do you farm steel? You have to play Ranked. You have to play Clan Battles. You have to play out the battlepass. I'm not saying you need to buy the premium battlepass, but if you play this game enough, its worth getting the premium battlepass.

Got my first Steel ship a couple days ago with steel I have saved up for over a year. Mecklenburg is what I got. I even own a research bureau ship the Ohio. Took me some time to get that as well.
Dude if you've been around since beta and all of that is true either you don't play very much or you aren't a very good player. I've been around almost as long as you and play a couple of hours a day. I have over 30K steel, a million coal, almost 3 million FXP and almost 200 million credits. And I'm not a unicom, I am mid at best! I average about a dozen free premiums per year and I usually buy one to four ships a year using the birthday coupon and free doubloons earned through playing on a regular basis. IRL I probably spend $30 a year. And this is the first year I've played most of the year with with premium time since I finally hit on some extended free premium time in crates this year. I have just shy of 300 ships and they earned me about 14K free steel in the anniversary and snowflake events, the free line of the event pass each update earns me another 1K a month. Just between those two sources I can buy a steel ship a year and I usually can get a second one by playing ranked and getting rewards for wins during each 2 week sprint. If your account doesn't look similar to mine and you've been in the game since Beta then you are definitely doing something wrong. Do you always play co op or something? Play once a week only?
I only buy a ship for real money when I get the 100% return in doubloons for the purchase of the ship. Got Scharnhorst a couple years ago and got Tirpitz earlier this year. Easiest way to get more out of the money you spend in this game. Some of the doubloons I got in return for buying Tirpitz I was able to finish Wisconsin without dipping into my wallet again. That ship is pretty wild. I never buy crates. I find its actually worse than gambling. I have been to a casino, and I feel I had better chances of winning in a casino then getting something useful out of crates in this game or any game really. I got too lucky with the free Santa containers last year got something like 6 ships maybe 7. Haven't got anything other than 1500 doubloons out of the Santa containers on offer right now.
Did most of my snowflake grind in the Star Trek missions. Just finishing T7s as I write this and will have the 6s and 5s done this weekend.
