Honestly after the concealment nerf Akizuki is the best in the line, you're giving up the slot 6 but in return you get better maneuverability and the 4 torps that have actually reasonable reload are much more usable than the awkward 6 launcher that you have to hold for the doom drop that oftentimes doesn't work.
@@AllAhabNoMoby Yeah, also... I wouldn't say she turns like a cruiser exactly but her rudder shift and acceleration (especially in reverse) seem more cruiser-like than destroyer-like. While I don't have Kitakaze yet her maneuverability seems closer to a regular destroyer's.
@@taiko1237 Good point, Aki actually handles a bit like Harugumo! 😂 Gotta love her gun power though. A DD that can set fire to the entire enemy team at 15 kms is just awesome. There's nothing like it at T8.

I don't personally find fires to be my main source of damage in her (that goes to 'cruisers showing broadside to the angry AP-spitting smokescreen 8km away' - I even managed to citadel a British CL with it once) but I haven't really built into her fire chance.
Honestly I think Harugumo is still better. Yes you lose maneuverability, but the added DPM to me is worth it. I don’t really find situations other than zoning where the torps are that useful, so in the end what the Haru brings to offer is still good enough.
You give up so much for dpm. It’s far easier to have great games in the kita. Harugumo is a big brick and takes damage so easily. Hard to knife fight other DD’s so you end up open water gun boating.
I have my Harugumo set up with the leg mod and coal smoke mod, range skill and no conceal on the commander. With the special japanese commander's improved survivability expert and 30mm HE pen, you're a smoke light cruiser without a citadel
Akizuki is enjoyable, but Kitty is my favorite, Haru having less conceal, turn radius of a cruiser & her big backside, she feels closer to a light cruiser , so while similar, have different playstyles.
P. Rupprecht secondaries are a few barrels shy of being Shleif secondaries at a tier lower. Similar to Kita, despite being technically worse, dropping a tier is enough to balance it out.
The earlier ships in the line are actually quite good, Shiratsuyu is basically Kagero at T7 for example, and Minekaze is really fun to play, but they certainly aren't gunboats. (Although Hatsuharu is kind of just objectively worse than Fubuki.)
You have smaller daka daka...and then the large daka daka with legmod which combined with Yamamoto simply turns the guns into a constant stream of piss...i mean fire....piss fire
I’m on my 3rd reset with the line. However, I only got the multiplier on the on the 1st grind. These last two I didn’t get a multiplier and the message on the reset menu say it will be two months for the next multiplier. What’s going on with that?
I've ran that entire line in coop 3 or 4 times now.....coop is just easier and more fun half the time, less stressful. Platoon two Kitakaze's together and almost no dd will come for you on or near a cap...who would want to face two Kitakaze's swapping smoke? If you're in a platoon with two Kitakaze's most dd's will just head for a different cap. I eat a lot of torps in these boats though, they are fat and sluggish.
Well call me whatever you want, but I dont even have harugumo unlocked. I only have kitakaze, and even keep my lvl 21 yamamoto on it. I even would prefer being in a kita in a super ship game than being in a haru in a T8 game. Gosh didnt they ruin a masterpiece destroyer just to give it 1 more gun...
As a general rule of thumb, IFHE is almost never worth using on any ship unless you absolutely _need_ the extra penetration. It isn't a pure upgrade, you sacrifice half of your fire chance to get that extra penetration, so you're going to get much less damage from fires. It makes your damage more consistent in a lot of cases, but when shooting at things like other DDs, CLs, poorly armored CAs, and superstructure of any description, you are essentially wasting those commander skill points. On ships like the Aki-Kita-Haru who already have extra pen built into their HE it is especially useless.

@@duskobabic4285 If you watched the video PQ explains it briefly but you need a completed line of ships from 1 to 10 and in the Techline list screen at the bottom of the 10th ship you should see the research icon ONLY if you have the 10th ship completed
I don't like Harugumo because it's clunky, plus it has the same box o' gimmicks 2 tiers higher. Now that T10 has to deal with supers, the tree really peaks with Akizuki. Kitakaze doesn't suffer as much, but in T11-12 super MM, it's a struggle.

You FXP up, don't buy the ships, reset them again at the next 2X research points, now they are 4x. Do it again and 6x. Highest I got before harvesting was 16x.

Basically a super heal so there's no unhealable damage taken and it heals more too, the speed boost takes it up to 42.3 knots and remains a full 2 min boost and gives it jump off the line acceleration. I used to hate my Halland, now I at least like it. Thanks again: Robert
Let's just be honest. Kitakaze is not a t9 DD. And it never was. Excluding the late gimmick train, just compare her to say a Gearing. Worse smoke and torp dpm, hp almost equal but way better gun dpm while competitive in terms of concealment and speed. Kita is t10 at t9, while haru is just a t10, trading off maneuverability and conceal for even more dpm.
Have you had a look at how many shatters you have? IFHE and youd be melting those BBs in 1/3 of the time. Fires are RNG, and the only argument is if you like consistency over randomness.
Nah, i've tried it. IFHE is only worth in ranked where you have bbs brawling and charging and you have to burst them down. In Randoms, the ships you farm most are the pushing ones that have heavy deck plating. The squishy ones tend to be further back so you mostly hit the superstructure. You get so many fires it actually doesn't feel like rng and is very consistent into any bb. Oh, Edit: Also, the AP on these ships slaps so hard that in many situations it's better to load that, even with IFHE.

The only thing that sucks about Star Kitas is the trops are limited to only the 8km ones, otherwise it would be insane.
I played almost every ship now, and I have to say these are still some of the most fun ships for me.

I do the same thing when grinding Research Points. quick easy win.

You're right I've been farming a lot of free xp and elite xp by mogging t9 and t10 ships with Aki
She's just so slow though. She only feels normal when the speed boost is on. I think Aki is great but Kitakaze is a major step up.

I've been grinding this line while I level up Yamamoto and enjoying it. I've also been having a lot of fun in T7 ranked with the Shira.

I like Harugumo because she's basically a Japanese equivalent to the Fletcher. Plus in my Azur Lane AU, she's depicted as Wakamo from Blue Archive.

Battleship Harugumo does, indeed, suffer from poor maneuverability. It's in the same class as most fast battleships.
People used really prefer the Kita over the Haru when Haru got full penned by BB AP shells.

No. That was patched out of Harugumo and Khabavrosk a couple of years ago.
