I have been making a few of my own diy speakers and some of the best bms I have used have two charging terminals and two discharging terminals. So the battery pack is somewhat in the middle of the charging module and the amplifier board, so remove it creates an open circuit which prevents voltage applied from the charging port from reaching the amplifier board

try using a 100 watts power adapter as the original has 60 watts only.
never mind, i just checked the specs and the device only accepts 60watts input.

USB might not supply enough current to run the speaker, they might use the battery as a buffer.
To be totally honest I'm not really 100% sure. I'm certain it doesn't work without the battery though, that's definite. Thanks for your input 👍
