Thanks for the video! Great tip to orient the model in the beginning. I guess if you wanted to print the model at a slight angle you could initially orient it that way.

I am a newbie, non dental experienced, person cleaning up arches for another person to print. They do not want a base on the arch and they print vertically. When I go through their step by step instructions to clean up the arch with meshmixer, I get to a point after extending the base, I find that the arch edges are hollow....hard to explain but wondering if I could send you a photo and see if you can help me fix or eliminate this. Thanks in advance if you can help.

I found this video and would love to get more information, for example where I can buy it, the cost. It looks very interesting and saves a lot of time for the dentist.

Meshmixer is free. You can download, install and use it free of charge.

Hello 3DDentist, I am new to the 3d printing, just received our form2 printer today. I am using 3shape programs and they prepare the the distal side nicely with a nice even straight edge. My problem is when I place the occlusion on the build plate vertically it gives me a printability error. 2 red dots appear behind the centrals. Is there any way I could have email to show you? thanks sean

Nice, very educational, thanks for this vid! Question, though, why not just use supports? Just because it would take longer to print, or are there other considerations?

Just as another option! I prefer to not use supports at all when printing dental models. Most of the time, I print horizontally, not vertically.

For what reason do you print the models vertically ? I am new in this

Hoping you can help, When I import a STl file into meshmixer it wants to save it as a "mix" file but I need to to be a STL file so I can open it up in pre form to print it. How do you go about doing that?

You have to export the file into STL. In menu File > Export.

Thanks for great tutorials! Is there any way to design a Damon splint in meshmixer? Like this one thats done with 3shape appliance designer: th-cam.com/video/2QiktMObJPM/w-d-xo.html

Yes! Shouldn't be a problem, although I can tell you that meshmixer has it's limitations. I do prefer using exocad for occlusal guard design.

This print would come out with missing pieces from the teeth. It definitely needs more support to be printed properly. Lots of unsupported minimas. Don't teach people if you teach wrong.

Not true. The model support itself when you print it that way. Support will just cost you more materials and more time removing them.
