WHO AM I?
My name is Mohammad, I’m a trainee surgeon, serial storyteller & wannabe entrepreneur living in London, UK. I started this TH-cam channel in 2017 to document my journey through my medical and surgical training.

ik the NHS is cool and stuff but the relatively low (ish) salary (compared to other countries) makes my blood boil.
And you spend lots of your salary on exams, additional courses, travel to the courses and student loans. Then they wonder why everyone leaves lol
A recent medscape article said UK doctors are the 3rd highest paid in the world behind only US and Germany. I thought; that can’t be right?!!
Exactly. Mathematics grads with 3 years degree are making more on many roles in the city and not doing anything of meaning
Exactly! You would think a developed and well off country would have good paying jobs within healthcare. At the same time though the NHS itself is bae and smth good about the UK
@@beebsblue I'm from the UK but I've started learning German as indeed there are far more opportunities there salary-wise. (albeit we know that a primary driving factor for practising medicine shouldn't be money) but it's good to keep your options open in case in future the nhs crumbles and becomes privatised and a money-vacuum
If you know a neurosurgeon, could you consider interviewing them? Or perhaps make a video breaking down the different pathways for different specialities? I’m familiar with US pathways (because there are more US doctors on YT) but not so much UK pathways. Just an idea :)
Spend lots on the exams, get charged more by the institute probably more responsibility and same pay, adds up to me. What you do get is to flex on people that you are a surgeon and that's the important thing.

So you go from Mr to Dr back to Mr !??
Australia has recently phased out gendered titles for surgeons. Surgeons will no longer be called Ms/Mr, but will remain with the title Dr. So curious to hear your thoughts on this and whether or not this change should be adopted in the UK. What do you think as someone who has recently passed the MRCS part 2?
It stems from the fact that surgeons traditionally didn't have to go to medical school so they couldn't actually be called a Dr. So idk what gender has to do with it, it is just historical.
@@rt-viz954 it’s historical but today I think to a lot of people it signifies that next level, and is almost like a right of passage once you’ve passed one of the most difficult exams you’ll ever sit in your life. Very similar to changing your title to Dr once completing your primary medical qualification.I think it’s a bit sad to lose out on that tradition.
Some people think it’s outdated though because surgeons nowadays do have medical degrees and that it isn’t inclusive for people who don’t want to specify their gender.
