I always found it difficult to look at vertical videos on phones, and always avoided it, but now I know the reason why it looks terrible. But this video showed, me that it can look beautiful too, and why it can look beautiful. The example shots shown in this video and the fundamental theory behind those shots, enforces the rules of how a vertical shot should be taken. This really challenges a school of thought - can a full movie be taken with these fundamentals in place.
What about shooting 4k horizontally, and then get the vertical shots in 1080p (a phone won't display much more pixels then the 1920px vertical with the 1080px width) via crop of the 4k footage? Could be viable to shoot only one type of clips but getting two formats? Yeah, of course you have to look for some kind of composition that will fit both formats, and that's not easy...
nice tuto. I was thinking that video is for TV so must be horizontal while i liked my vertical videos with iphone 14 pro max. Next step is how to process it in dobe premiere pro ? add a 16:9 landscape background for TV presentation ?
