    glad to see this finally come out, the steering on my sammy is so sloppy. I am thinking of doing this kit, and the prius power steering, but wondered how the prius power steering holds up with water crossings, and being bound up in rocks? Drummond island, deifinately has some deep water crossings in June. Or would I be better off doing the astro van power steering setup? Any insite into how your PS performs, especially with the new steering box would be appreciated.

    odd question - I have a RHD Samurai, 1995 with power steering. It's in need of an adjustment, also I am in the middle of hooking it up to an ALH TDI PS pump, but I have no idea which side of the steering box is high pressure in vs low pressure return. Any ideas?

    Great video ordered my kit several months back just getting around to installing but ran into a lil hiccup want to see what your thoughts are on my situation
    The part that connects to the steering wheel not sure if it’s the sector shaft or not but it’s longer than the one I took out and when I put the big nut on it it doesn’t thread in a whole lot and if I put any pressure on it it makes it to where I can’t turn it easily by hand like you do your in the video any help

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @maximo979
      @maximo979 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s pushed in all the way
      tried it several ways and it doesn’t work the part that has the little box that moves up and down is different in size than the original one I took out I contacted rodeless gear already and sent them pics waiting on response

    Great video, thank you. I ordered the kit, rebuilt the box, and ran into an adjustment issue. The adjustment screw did nothing for me. I never got to correct starting torque. It was very easy to turn and then once tightened too much the gears would bind. I just backed it off till it didn’t bind anymore. Any ideas what could cause it to be so loose? To much gear oil?

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow, thats a darn good question, sounds like maybe you got one machined with too much clearance. I dont think the type of oil used would do such a thing.
      Sorry i cant be much more help.

      @maximo979 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had same issue
      Contacted roadless gear and sent them pics they said the would accept my return and refund money
      I did not return I adjusted till it didn’t bind but I’m not 100% happy with the results better than it was but a lot stiffer than before and I have the same eps that Ron has on his videos

    enjoyed that regardless of it not being relevant to my Suki being that i'm in the UK. i'm going for a 1.6 16v swap during the coming months but us being RHD we don't have the option of electric steering due to clearances with the intake manifold, starter etc. gonna go with hydraulic power steering using a box from a vitara but out of interest, what is it that causes them to become loose?

      @Fabbin Adventures Darn, I know you did an electric steering setup, but I'm curious about tapping the tracker steering box for hydro assist. Happened to have 2 of them and want to hold off on getting a toyota box if possible. Thanks for all your useful videos though! Got the 1.6 8v I'm interested in using the Holley sniper efi on since my weber 38 doesn't do too great on inclines. Trying to turn locked 33s when wheeling is hard on the current steering setup too.

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      The electric steering is good, but hydro would be way better for hard wheeling.
      The sniper efi would work good, but so would the stock efi wouldnt it?

    • @20tea
      @20tea ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fabbin Adventures Thanks, the stock tbi on my 8v has parts that are getting hard to come by. The computer is also annoying as I had problems with it blowing a capacitor regulating fuel 2 times in 10 years. The ignition coil is $300 and so on... It also has very limited tuning ability to it when compared to my weber 38. I was able to flip the carb so it would run on steep inclines. On steep downgrades, I have the sami in gear to keep from dying. I modified the float and plugged some ports to reduce flooding as well known as an (incline modification). The sniper efi is tunable to an aftermarket cam and headers as well as possible future upgrades like a turbo. I also enjoy the 1.6 8v considering it's a non interference motor such that if the timing belt snaps, then the motor is still safe. The 16v is great, but never came across any good donors and I happened to have 3x1.6 8v motors.

      abouth the parts you buy and show in your video i note that they seems identical to those parts i searching for.
      Some cars brands use some parts that are the same because they dont make these parts bud they order them from a factory that make alternator and startor battery and provide these to many care makers because these are aggregate parts.
      The steering gearbox for a suzuki jeep you did repair has inner parts thas seems identical as the steering gearbox for the Toyota and the difference between buth is on there mounting body of both bud the inner deems the same
