  • This job is going to be restructuring a blown down fence. It ends up falling over while working on it and hitting me in the darn head.

    Amen brother. Ive been doing this kind of work for 3 years now. Was sick of working as a slave. Im busier than ever probably dont charge enough but i enjiy helping people and meeting new people. Im almost 37 now. Just bought a skidsteer this winter so ive beem doing jobs with that amd my dump trailer. Definitely enjoy that work as its not as taxing physically. I do a lot of manual labor, handyman stuff, amd moving furniture. Happy every day. My wife amd daughter are better than ever because im doing what my soul loves to do. Keep at it man, i hear it often that theres a huge demand for guys like us.

      Love to hear it man. Our story is really similar. I’ll make an episode telling my back story on what’s happened in my life causing a restart. I’m glad you’re doing good bro. I have the same game plan for next year. Mini excavator and my dump trailer. Going to be able to charge more with less physical labor. Let’s stay in touch buddy.

      @Nothing2Somthing awesome man I'm looking forward to it. I give you a lot of credit for making videos, I have like 0 desire to do them lol. Glad people like you are willing and able to create them and sacrifice the effort and time. If you haven't come across his TH-cam yet, jack of haul trades is probably my most watched channel right now. He's only 22 but very intelligent. He does a lot of junk hauling, tree work with mini skidsteer, and other hustling with dump trailers.

    Good to start customers off with small jobs like that. They learn to trust you doing quality work and you learn that they pay for it without a fuss. Later they come to you with bigger jobs. If they do make a fuss about that first small job, you just add them to your denylist and move on. Priority is good customers first, new customers second. No time for bad customers, let them DIY.

      I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been experiencing everything you’re saying. Majority of my work recently has been repeat customers. This thing is just starting to take off. It’s been a really hard road. I’ll explain in one of my videos. I’ll dedicate a full video to it.

    Good stuff! I started up last year. My first job was to seal a driveway which I’ve never done. I was so nervous. Halfway in it started pouring rain and washed it all away. Ugh! Went back a week later and finished it and turned out great. Just gotta push forward I guess. This year I’m so busy with work it’s crazy.

      That must of been one stressful first job. I would have been stressed out big time. I’m glad it ended up going your way though. Where are you located? What did you do for advertising? Is it all word of mouth now? Stoked that works going great for you now. Nothing compares to working for yourself. It’s a freeing feeling.

Anyways im pumped that everything's working out for you bro. Keep me posted and maybe in the future we can Caleb somehow.

    HELL YEAH. Working for yourself, don't forget to keep DETAILED records of customers, hours worked and what done, what tools purchased, and setting some aside for taxes at the end of the year, plus whatever insurance and license things you need to be legal where you're at. You can work under the radar, but if things go wrong, it's easier for the customer to screw you over without any legal business protections. Starting out you take what you can get, but don't undercharge too much or give away work. Time + Materials + Markup. Wishing you and your family nothing but success.

    • @Nothing2Somthing
      @Nothing2Somthing  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you bro I really appreciate all that. I keep all my receipts and customer info in a log book. I’m really detailed with everything, specially when it comes to purchases and write offs for taxes. I have been undercutting myself on some jobs but it’s gotten me called back for more work. I don’t undercut myself a lot but I definitely have a couple times. I appreciate you being detailed in your comment. Do you own a business? How is it going if so?

      @@Nothing2Somthing I had a home inspection business that failed because the insurance I was required to carry was killing me. I couldn't get enough business to cover that cost, so had to fold it. I'm an HVAC guy by trade. Once I get my Master's license (I qualify to sit for the test in about 8 months), I'm looking to start a building services cooperative. But we still have to eat in the meantime, right? So I'll have to KEEP working while also trying to build a separate-but-not-technically-competitive customer base. Going to be a big lift but I think I can do it.

      @@bikerbobcat That’s a tough one buddy. Sorry it ended up folding up. I totally get it and I can relate trying to keep the wheels on to get to your end goal. Not everyone has it in them to visualize the end goal but drag yourself through the mud/grind to get there. I wish you the best bro and I’ll tell my story on this channel soon. I’ve been through a lot and lost everything I’ve ever worked for in my life and now I’m starting from ground zero. This channel is for the grinders and the ones that have been doubted. If I can tell my story and help someone out there it’s all worth it. Good luck brother. Keep me posted on your successes.
