    I always struggle with his example of the absorbed programmer... I can see the highest state in this. By my view the man is totally unconscious in that moment. He didn't notice the shift of his awareness from mantra to programming. What is the difference to being unconscious? He did not know what happend... He missed the shift. Isn't that the definition for "unconscious"? Not noticing what is happening? It was completely unwilling, that shift, how can that be a high state? 🙏

    • @DerekConnor555
      @DerekConnor555 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The idea is that he is conscious of something that’s not himself to the point he forgot he was there (similar to the idea of flow states)

    • @DanielBepunkt
      @DanielBepunkt หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DerekConnor555 I understand. That is also what I can see. But being in a flow isn't being conscious as far as I know, is it? It is like being totally absorbed, being in a trance, being hypnotized: I forget what is around me. Mickey also often says that being in Samadhi (totally absorbed, concentrated) isn't meditation. And I can follow this: I then forgot everything else around me. And back from the samadhi I yell at my child. I can agree that it is a higher state than being in personal mind. But the hightest state? When I don't notice what my mind does? When I unconsciously and unwilligly shift from mantra to being totally in trance/flow? Sorry for my words. I love Mickey and learned sooo immensely from him. I only try understand because in that example I can't see the point.

      In my opinion, being in flow is completely conscious. In flow, you are absolutely aware of everything around you, but you're not thinking about it. It's sort of a background awareness. You are not distracted by mind. You are in that place where creativity happens, out of which a spectacular piece of art or music (or a program) may be born.
      To me, the opposite of flow is when you are in an unconscious trance, completely hypnotized by the thoughts of the mind.
      Think of a quarterback, who in an instant reads the field and knows exactly where every player is and where they will soon be and in the flow, knows exactly where to throw or to run. It's beautiful. He doesn't have time to think through each little separate piece. It all comes together in the flow.
      I see what you're saying about, he completely missed the shift from mantra to programming and how can that be conscious. I think it's only the personal mind that missed the shift. His awareness is completely aware that he's operating from consciousness and not personal mind. But it's one of those things you can't think about with the personal mind. As soon as you try to think about it, it becomes mind and not consciousness.

      @@SeatsofContemplation Thank you for your words and for the time you gave me. 🙏 Exactly, it is only about the shift. When your not conscious of what your mind is doing. Maybe, and I love Mickey and his teachings, that there is one point where I cannot follow him. Only to that degree that he says this is the highest state.
      Flow is wonderful. And it is seen as a preliminary stage of trance. Extremely concentrated and willingly induced focussed one object and deeply relaxed. I cannot see the difference to samadhi which is also a wonderful state but not the highest. I can come back from samadhi or flow and yell at my wife because of anything... Also being hypnotized is a state of deep relaxation, free from thoughts and the personal mind. That's why persons in that state can work through problems of their life because there is no ego/personal mind pushing down the stuff.
      But it is of course possible that I'm not able yet to understand/see why Mickey sees this as the hightest stage.
      I'll work on these things. 🙂
      Thank you, my friend. 🙏

      @@DanielBepunkt Thank you for that beautiful response. And I agree. I think flow is a very high state, but is temporary for most people. Peace, my friend. 🙏
