This is the OFFICIAL b-roll (cutaway footage) provided BY DoorDash...let's all just let that sink in lol like guys let's not communicate to new Dashers that you just give away your bag 😂 like I know you get it for free but..
There’s so much they don’t consider. One time it gave me a request JUST as I passed the exit it expected me to take. So I ended up having to drive through heavy traffic, and after a very long traffic light, make a u-turn and it ended up showing my delivery as late for that. Some otger examples were getting stuck behind a train(that stopped in front of me waited then backed up so it was like double the length of the actual train), having to detour because of a police/fire truck road block and more… on time delivery is unfair and will cause drivers to drive unsafe just to make their delivery on time.
I guess the question is the 10 deliveries that they won't count, how often does that refresh. If someone is driving a lot more they'll just statistically have a much higher chance of running through those faster than others. Edit: It'll be out of the last 100 deliveries I assume based on the initial announcement
Yes this is the key. Merchants are just starting the order on arrival now and every single order just about is late. It would be impossible to get plat plat under the current system.
Now here's my question with the new On Time Rating is this going to be judged based off the customers original time given for their order or My expected delivery tine as a Dasher once I finally picked up the order and Hit Confirm, because if it's based off the customers time and not my expected delivery time then the Dasher is at risk of being late based off the merchants timing of doing the order ( which many factors can affect that) how many dashers declined that order is the order already late when it got sent to me? So I think this is a valid question to clear up if you have any information on it
Yeah when I first read that I really had to reread it again, not the best metric to use as they're only using forecasted expected ETAs. What about any delays that happen after the pick up like traffic or even unexpected restaurant wait times.
Ahhh, the restrictions on this are going to be a pain. There is a major road in town that is currently under repairs, because of that orders take longer since you got to go around (im talking an extra 10 minutes, so substantial) but at the same time doordash doesn’t recognize that there is construction and always shows the optimum path through that road. If they don't update the logic there, then all the orders in that area are going to be late even though people are doing it as quickly as possible.
I remember in another video you did on On time rate. You mentioned they will withhold the worst 9 on time rate. With your customer rating they do the same thing. What they DON'T tell you is they start adding those Back In at the beginning of your next 100 rated orders. Meaning they more than likely will add those 9 withheld at the next 100. Remember they are rolling 100. Great video Mike. Thanks.
@@YourDriverMike Still at 95% I pretty much know which restaurants they are, and I won't take offers from them unless they get snuck into doubles. OTOH, refusing to take them is why my Acceptance rate went from the low 90s to 70%. I've also cut down the number of shifts I drive because there are days when (statistically) those are likely to be the majority of offers, and would really tank my AR.
The only eta metric that dd can really nail is based on the Google maps/traffic. The fact that their restaurant estimates are so often badly wrong and consistently wrong for certain restaurants gives me zero confidence that their overall etas will be reliable enough for this. It's nice that they will knock 10% of your worst times off the top, but if those 10% (or more) are for wildly unrealistic etas then how are they really helping? Dunno, im reserving judgement but I'm skeptical.
They keep growing with over 7M dashers now; I feel like the ones that feel it the most are the ones that have SEEN the changes over the years. We used to have none of these programs and just 'organically' dashed. I still like DD but it's quite a difference especially to get HPO
@@YourDriverMikeagreed…the very fact that they have 7M drivers is the metric that proves what the word “replaceable” truly means. My advice: treat DD like they treat you. Whatever that means to you.
I’m the same. I go straight to pick up and straight to drop off. I even put a few extra on the MPHs and I still get hit. Always hit if an order is being prepared or not even started if you’re waiting for an order. It helps. But by time I figured that out, I already been dinged the fk up on a lifetime stat.
New on time program ........a little stressful. 2yr Dasher Platinum and now seems you can't even miss your street lights. Their standards are getting tighter
I feel like a 'tight' window is a 3 minute buffer. So most of my deliveries I deliver within 3 minutes of their window, still sweating it a bit but doable. Any tighter than that is unreasonable.
It’s a struggle and a tight delivery window. You got to move it!!! Some Stores hit ready buttons and food is not ready. It’s not as easy as you think to hit 90 especially if you have a stack. Toledo driver 6 days on V2
DoorDash could do something like , a Dasher who maintains an on-time percentage threshold for a week, gets a bonus payout. Time shouldn’t determine your tier standing
This just hit my market within the last 2 weeks. Something that I think needs to be taken into account special events for the area and/or holidays. I've only done 13 orders since this hit my market, but 3 of those got flagged as late (yes they are excluded, but that's 23% of my orders thus far). All 3 Lates were during an Incentive Pay promo, when either traffic or restaurants were extremely busy due to a hometown college football playoff game or the fact it was Christmas Eve. It would have been 5 Lates had I not unassigned 2 of them. I think it would make more sense to exclude all Late Deliveries (beyond the 10) anytime Incentive Pay is being offered.
I always go from point A to point B and my on/time delivery percentage is 92 and dropping. I can't imagine anyone having a higher rate unless they are speeding. I think that as long as the driver is making the best effort it should not matter and the on time rating system should be removed. DD monitors our every movement so I am not sure why we have this as a metric.
Doing polls on which is better seems silly since like 3 people have this now. As soon as drivers get burned by this during busy rush times at certain slow restaurants and figure to avoid these places or certain times of day they will change it again
I get it, wanted to at least get a pulse on what the community thinks so it's not just me saying 'this is good this is bad'. As mentioned once it's more widely launched and experienced we'll get a better feel.
Its a good thing imo, its the type of thing that customers DO notice so also the type of thing that is important for us to get business like we'd hope. Beyond that some tips and thoughts, Arrive button has like a 1/4 or at least 1/8 mile buffer, if you know that its very easy to almost never be late, that plus the fact you get 10 free lates that don't count (so 90/100 is 100%) makes on time easy to get or stay at 100%. No one should struggle with it unless very new, or are the most timid and overfly cautious (to a genuinely negative degree) driver ever (in which case why drive for money? bad idea), or in the sad case the routes are very poorly optimized (includes toll roads to make it on time etc) which truthfully IS something Doordash in certain places needs to work on, but my thoughts are they won't until enough drivers struggle and forcefully point out the real problems in certain areas.
@YourDriverMike It has been my experience that Door Dash DOES NOT give enough time for their ETAs. It feels like they are trying to make Dashers late so they have something to complain about.
I don't think they want us late, just want everything to be on time (prep, pick up, delivery) but they may be trying to refine the system now. If it all works that's great but the system needs to work.
So DD punishes Dashers with lateness because DD is bad at estimating pickup time readiness by restaurants. Real time delivery time adjustment activates after hitting Confirm Pickup past the pickup time, which protects against late delivery contract violations. On time only happens when the food is ready by pickup time or 1-2 minutes past. Waiting on food 5 or more minutes past pickup time is biggest cause of lateness and reflects on the On Time/Early percentages. It is silly that DD protects us from late delivery contract violations when we wait 15 minutes at a restaurant, but still dings us for being late on the On Time metrics.
I'm a bit nervous about this. Is this based on the customer's time or based on the time when I actually pick up the delivery? Restaurants have so many delays that I have no control over.
I have 88% on time or early atm, Do they take in account I am on an Ebike and can only go 20 mph to 30 mph in Pittsburgh on my Ebike? I always message customer that they didnt start till I got there.

1) Big food chain merchants like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, etc, are always late. Hospitals, and college dormitory hand it to me order, always late. 2) Time needs to be taken out of the equation for a drivers tier standing. Time is going to work against so many drivers. It’s the only parameter that a driver has no control over. 3) To assume a driver is going to be 90% and above for on time is a unrealistic expectation Summary: The harsh reality is, not every driver can be platinum. If a driver isn’t full time, they won’t have enough deliveries to flush out a low percentage rate under the new V2. In fact, the new system will significantly reduce the amount of platinums on the road.
they doing all this and i'm stilling going to get catering order at 28% AR. i'm still going to decline any order under 8$. i'm still going to not check for missing items. im still going to get large size offers while these plat dashers are making 14$ or less a hour.

I'm curious the data behind when they tap "ready" versus when the Dasher clicks "confirm pickup" which could be an indicator of that
basing this 'new' rating on he offer screen is really awful. at least 70% of my offers are delayed by the restaurant so way more than 10.

Not sure when the change over will happen. I didn't get the On Time Rate email. Should come first though then Overall Dasher Rating Program.
3) To assume a driver is going to be 90% and above for on time is a unrealistic expectation
Summary:
The harsh reality is, not every driver can be platinum.
