      The BIG problem is that after you decline a low profit offer is them throttling your dash to a snails pace forcing you into excepting whatever they throw your way..... we all know they do this. We are there to deliver goods but them saying we have platinum status and them delivering on their promise of higher paying orders is another thing. If they have your stats handy then they know they have a sucker on the line and on the hook. We're nothing but a ho to them. I've seen them do better, but will they and do they keep it up? Nope!

      So in my area ( Tampa , Fl ) my neighborhood is 1/4 mile from my hot spot with ( Outback , Carrabba’s , McDonald’s, BK , Wendy’s & Pizza Hut ) but 1.5 miles away is a mall with a massive food court & more restaurants like cheese cake factory & B-Dubs too ) so I go dash now & chill at home till my 1st one , but if I wasn’t as close I would probably go sit closer

      I get those everyday. This area has an endless supply of that type of order. I will often get 10 miles for $2. I don't know how anyone keeps platinum around here, but they do. I can only imagine what orders they are taking, they have to be losing money at some point. Most orders here are less than $2 a mile, so the odds of getting a high paying order are pretty slim.

    They want you to concentrate on your AR and bite the bullet so you'll take their crappy orders.

    Platinum Dasher here (well ALMOST always). At the beginning you asked about dollars per hour. Most of my shifts are $20-25 per hour, sometimes 30-35. But I focus on meal times, never dashing the slow in between times - I just do 2-3 hours around lunch, or 3-4 hours around supper time. If I'm getting less than 20 I just go home and use my time better.
    I accept a few orders that are dollar per mile, but in my area I get enough orders that are like $6 for 1 mile or $9 for 3 miles that the bad ones are offset.
    My area has a business area with a dozen dashable restaurants w/i a quarter mile, and then 4 miles / 7 mins away there's another quarter mile area with 10 restaurants and 2 shop&deliver stores (CVS and dollar store). I go back and forth as orders dictate.

    I was driven from platinum back to gold due to the horrible offers I started receiving at platinum. Late drop offs started occurring due to the stores being crowded for the good offers. Even with me notifying the customers and DoorDash my customer rating still went down from time completion issues.

    • @nocturnus6
      @nocturnus6 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Those customer ratings really tick me off sometimes. They can give you a bad rating for no good reason, and most of the time you aren't even given a reason. I currently have 2, 1 star ratings that I did not deserve. I wonder sometimes if those bad ratings are because of restaurant wait times. Maybe people don't even understand that they aren't rating doordash, they are rating me.
      Customer rating shouldn't be a metric that counts toward tier levels, it's too much out of our control. DD should revamp customer ratings if they want to use those as a metric, make them more fair and transparent.

    • @user-Drop_Davis
      @user-Drop_Davis 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @ That’s the same issue I’ve had because ANYTIME I’ve been late was due to the stores being slow or crowded and I always communicate this…I only have one bad rating which I don’t know where it came from…I don’t even have a thumbs down on anything and even with me disputing it they denied my dispute and DD still brought my customer rating down. That customer rating has been the only thing that keeps me flip flopping between gold and platinum every few days. Maybe a dog or cat got a hold of somebody’s food after I left it…I wouldn’t know 🤣. I had a drop off where there was at least 10 cats ran up out of everywhere surrounding me meowing when I walking to an apt door one time…🤣.

      @TheOriginalChaosdjin 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Most people just see a rating and do not understand that they are rating us and not the actual place they ordered from. So we can easily get bad ratings because of order issues that are beyond our control.

    8 miles for $3 is the kind of insulting crap offers that are very common in West Central Georgia. $2 for 10 miles is not uncommon at all. Anything less than $6.50 at a $1.50 per mile eats up time so you lose out on hourly rate.This is why trying to maintain a high AR around here does not make sense. Soon as you make progress they start throwing crap at you to knock your AR back down. Cherry picking is the smart approach in this area.

    5:48 in the market I dash in, about 2 hours east of you, almost every order takes me outside of the power strips. There's like one MASSIVE power strip in the dead center of the zone with like 40+ restaurants and stores, so literally after every delivery I pause my dash and travel back to the power strip area and then unpause to get my next order. Keeps me from declining a ton of upside down orders and probably the only reason why I've been able to keep my AR above 70%

  • @jeffwoodie4395
    @jeffwoodie4395 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    I'm consistently platinum but I do a lot of S&D, which are higher paying anyway. But I find that a) most S&D are low item counts which make them as quick or quicker than some restaurant pickups and b) usually fairly low miles since people are shopping their local grocery store. And the cherry on top is that there don't seem to be that many S&D drivers around so I get stacked orders very regularly. I was on two different sets of stacked orders last night, each set of them were for almost $30 and the item counts were very manageable (25 and 13 for each stack I believe). I also regularly get S&D orders of $18-23+ (highest was $37 for just 30 items) so then when I get a 2nd stacked order on top of that and the orders take less than an hour, I consistently make $22-26 pretty easily.

    The only reason why I expect the trash orders sometimes is for a tax write off. When excepting the trash order it helps you not pay as much money in taxes at the end of the year as long as your tracking miles. I know at the time is hurts you but at the end of the year it tends to help you out from owing on taxes. Keep that in mind.

    I absolutely believe they will send you orders based on what you have previously accepted. For example, most people don't want to deliver in the less safe areas in Detroit. Once in a while a good order will come through so I'll accept it and drive to Detroit and drop it off (and then immediately drive back out of Detroit before going live). Every single time I do this DoorDash will send me Detroit orders all day. If I spend a couple days rejecting Detroit orders, I stop seeing them almost entirely. It happens every time like clockwork. There have been a couple times where it gave me 2 or 3 Detroit orders in a day so I took them. In both cases the next day I basically made no money because the only orders it sent me for hours were low pay/no tip Detroit orders. Suddenly it was like none of the nearby restaurants I go to every single day had orders.

    I tried out the color tiers like 6 months ago, took a bunch of crap orders to get myself to 70% AR. And then waited for a Friday night, peak dinner time, in a busy area. Got a couple of good orders and then it shot me like 6 absolute garbage orders in a row, in a matter of like 1 minute. So bad there was no way I could accept them. I might have taken a couple low paying orders if they were low mileage and could be knocked out quickly, but these were like 10+ miles for like $3-5. Immediately ruined my AR, dropped my level. I basically rage quit and swore to never take another garbage order again. So I'm definitely out of the Dasher Rewards game.

    Here’s how to think of DD’s tactics. Keeping in mind you’re an individual contractor. Suppose a government entity put out a job for roofing a new building. The price was fixed on the low side. On bid day, 10 roofers turned it down and one finally accepted it . Would the government put out a warning to the decliners, reminding them of their falling acceptance rates? 0:01 Never happen. It would simply keep them on the list for other jobs, understanding they had a higher bar. But what would the 10 decliners think of the roofer who accepted the job and thus encouraged the practice of lowballing. I think this gives a snapshot of the business atmosphere DD is creating.

    I started driving for Xmas for a month, I have Uber and dd, the reason I didn’t get back to platinum was because I didn’t have 100 deliveries in 30 days. But what I’ve realized is, this is actually worth it to just sit around and do nothing and be able to cherry pick Uber orders, I make way more money and don’t have to sweat accepting bad ones. When I was a platinum dasher during the slow season there were times I could make sometimes $50 an hour, but a lot of the times I would only average $25-$30 an hour and sometimes even lower. That sounds right and a paid to wait fee is needed at minimum .25 cents per waiting minute for the order to be made ready instead of our dime waiting for free (our time is our money). If you hit the "I'm Not getting any delivery orders buttton (?)" They will throw you crap or near crap right away even if it makes you wait a long time for the order... but it will keep you moving or busy good or not.

    I can believe it, that's why I quit dashing. I've seen worse than that as a platinum driver. The one that made me search for something better (and I found it) was an offer of $1.50 for 7 miles. I quit DD about 2 months ago and haven't looked back. I have been clearing $400 in about 9 hours with my other company, and it's been a couple of solid months. I am not going to say who they are because my life was great with DD in my area until I bragged about it.

    Yes, in my market at least, which is rural mixed with rapidly expanding suburban sprawl, reserving a spot & pressing pause until you are in a good spot is a great idea. If you are out of the pick up zone the only offers you get are long distance & low paying offers that leave you miles outside of the zone again.

I called them to ask why they put that order in the middle of dropping off two orders and they gave me the we are busy and we estimate how you should be able to finish delivery to then go do another order! Than later they were not so busy and start sending me out of zone to deliver which is frustrating so Platinum is not all Roses! 7:25 i 100% believe w/e offers you accept will add to your stats and they will prioritize your upcoming offers base on those stats. this is 100% bad for EBT and plat offers. if you accept a no tip offer b.c your on EBT and don't kno their not giving you a tip or if your forced to accept it b.c of your AR. you will see more offers from that customer. what's even worse if a not tip customer give you a good review, it's over. you will see their offer every time they order and your dashing. this works the same way with the customer neighborhood. you will continue to get offers from that neighborhood once you built up stats for that neighborhood. this is why it's so important to give a quality service to customers that tip. now the real question does these stats roll off every 100 dashes? i think they do not.

  • @JorgeBlanquet-d9g

    Restaurants and Doordash should limit the mile ratio from A to B, Doordash should implement a system where every order is sent to the right (A) restaurant in the 1-5-10 mile ratio depending on the restaurant so (B) drop off location can be the closest location from (A) restaurant, just like a system like schools have district or location or ext.

      This is my experience. I may ‘need’ to take the occasional bad order, but if I accept two in a row, it seems the algorithm ‘knows’ I’m working on upping my AR, and it decides I’m willing to be the garbage disposal.
      My method around this is to do an Earn by Time shift or two, and typically I can up my AR by enough points that I can have wiggle room later to Dash per order & decline the rotten ones.
      I’m definitely still learning, tho. Platinum dasher, been working since Dec 2023 & have 995 lifetime dashes.

    It seems like I'm not sitting around like I use to and I'm getting more $6-$9 deliveries but idk if its cause of Christmas tips or less delivery drivers and more deliveries.

    You guys always account for the dollar to mile ratio but you don't consider the fact that you are trying to work a power strip, so if you are taking an order for 10.00 that goes 5miles out but you are actually driving 10 miles to get back to the location for orders. Additionally, I'm a plat driver and they'll spam you with 2, 3, 4 dollar orders anyway.

Have more platinum dashers to be forced into taking these orders … and the ideal of rotating out accepts and decline just makes it more one sided with how many it takes to build up your ar. I fight this everyday because half our market doesn’t tip at all and many are dashers themselves.. I took a 3.75$ for 8 miles and was given a penny .. yup .01$

    Today, Friday I made $200 on UE delivering $3+ per mile offers and only $7 on DD. What a stupid concept they have in place. Zones is another stupid thing.
