Thanks Jake, it was a pleasure to meet you. Just installed the Dyno Jet tune. You are 100% correct, that stupid plastic cap is the most difficult part, just have to pull pretty hard to get it off. Took my KRX for a test drive and I noticed a difference in the throttle response and it accelerates faster, but I don’t think I gained anything on top speed. However I did run out of runway to push any harder. So I could be wrong about that. Regardless, I think the Dyno Jet is worth $$$ and so far I am happy with it.
you should put a battery tender/charger on the battery while doing a tune.... one thing that can fry an ecu is a loss of power while programming.... just simple insurance to help make it as successful as possible..... PV3 was awesome for my KRX..... one nice thing of note about the PV3... the screen will rotate so no matter how you mount it, it can be changed to read upright. mine is permanently mounted where our presenter showed folks mounting theirs- to the left of the dash... i have the customizable display show the fuel trims and throttle percentage.... fuel trims so i can know if it's adding high short and long term fuel trim then i know I'm running lean- which can cause engine damage, and throttle percentage so i can know if I'm getting full throttle or not....
That lecture you gave about all the merits of the Dynojet PV3 was like fourplay with my girlfriend telling her about how good it is going to be,....with no conclusion !! What are the real improvement gained, what did it cost and why should I purchase the item ????
Good way to put it. Lol. However I thought I covered a few times that it is the best mod I’ve done to my krx. More power, more throttle response, lower fan temps, and full power reverse to name a few.
I called Kawi customer service and asked them if a tune and exhaust would void the warranty and they said ONLY if the tune DIRECTLY caused the issue. (after they got done chuckling since they get this question all the time). My local dealer said heck yes it will void the warranty. Looks like the local dealer needs some edumification... I just bought the PV3 and will be adding the Kraftwerks Supercharger soon!
That's a good tip! I had a hard time trying to get that cap off because I couldn't get to the port. Kawasaki didn't make it easy to connect that Dyno jet to it.
My vfj stage2 tune did the same thing. Cut off at wide open throttle. Limp mode,, etc.. I didn't notice it at first because I don't go to the floor board often. I bought a second ecu and a PV3. The VFJ tuned ecu is on a shelf in my garage and will sit there until I decide what to do with it. Edit: I have a California model although it was bought in KY
Thanks for all your how-to videos. Anything about the KRX. You bring real world testing. Btw, what kind of stove do you have? We don't get as cold here in Las Vegas, but I have a wood shop with a lot of scrap to burn.
Because of the shop, I just pack lots of spares, but nothing that I really know of I might need. As far as the heater it’s a custom waste oil heater made from a woodstove.
Yes and no. factory gearing is your speed limiter. This will help everywhere but will not increase top speed unless your car was running lean which most of them do. This will indeed help that but you won’t see much gain on the top in with the Tuner unless you go to a larger tire.
Just came across your video I was wondering I have 2023 krx 1000 es with the live fox I was just wondering the program you used on yours does it work on the newer ones like mine I know your video says 3 years but am new to the krx game just seen your videos just wondering if it would work on mine an were could I get one

There is a tune already in the device for your Kawasaki. Plug it in and go. But you have multiple other options of tunes and changes you can do if you would like to.
Speed is little to none. The Kawasaki is controlled by the final gear ratio and Revlimiter. As far as response. You will notice a huge improvement everywhere.
It's all about the, RPM horsepower gain.. RPM & HORSEPOWER.. show us the show us the show us the printed.. what tire diameter were these tests run on the dyno??
Every machine is different. You’re not gonna get a ton of TopSpeed out of any Tuner. The Kawasaki is geared lower than other Utv‘s to limit out the top speed. However Bobby‘s car is doing 75 with this tuner.
Wanting to go with the dynojet tune , I installed the mbrp exhaust slip on , does the tune ask questions on what exhaust is being used? I have a lean pop on declaration , hoping to fix this problem with the PV3 .
On the Tuner screen it does not ask you those questions. However you can go to their website and pick a tune for a aftermarket muffler. I had the same pop on deceleration with the stock muffler and the catalytic converter removed. I called them and they made a slight adjustment for me and now everything is great.
Clutching. You want a real improvement? Get new clutching. The stock clutching spins up way too slowly. I run the RCOR weights and you can actually steer with the throttle now.
Do you know if there is a way to load a "stock" tune back onto my ECU, I had someone send me a stock tune. I have a VFJ tune. John will flash it back for free but I thought I might be able to do this myself with the PV3. I called Dynojet and they said the PV3 will not work without a stock tune installed. I am thinking I can upload from my computer to the tuner and then manually install. Then install the Kraftwerks tune needed for my supercharger. Kind of tough question. I will test it and find out and post the results.
You dont need to get another ecu or worry about the another tune you have. I had a "custom" tune in my ecu also when i did the power vision. I still was able to download a new tune out of the dynojet and replace the tune i previously had. Before I fired the engine though, i talked to 3 people at dynojet to verify it was not going to be "Stacking" tunes and it would be ok. The dynojet has "stock" files in it, and will completely start with a fresh tune wither you have another tune or not.
Is it worth putting the tune in with a stock exhaust or should I change the exhaust as well I have heard people say they still had popping and back firing with the tune that comes on the pv3 with the stock exhaust with the cat removed and with mbrp exhaust and had to get a different tune
It’s absolutely worth doing with no exhaust modifications. As I mentioned in another video changing the muffler is actually showing a loss in horsepower with no gain. However I have experienced some popping on deceleration with the catalytic removed. You can run the tune for a different muffler that is on their website. That would alleviate the issue. I hope that answers your question.
Question i have a krx 1000 and my top speed is only 98 km/h .Before my krx i have a teryx 800 with dynojet and i make 99 km/h .Do you think with this tuner i can reach 110 km/h i want to go faster than my friend polaris 900 rxp .
well i dont know km/h? lol. I do know kawasaki limited the top speed with gearing. It was a smart move, but sucks for all of us. With some heavy clutch weights, a fresh belt, and a tune you will notice a difference in top speed for sure. km/h though, im not sure.
Have you upgraded any of your drive line to protect it from the weight of the 35's? I have been going back and forth about upgrading to the 35's and I am concerned that I will blow a diff. If that a stupid concern? I am mostly doing rock crawling and rocky trails.
That’s not a stupid question. No I have done nothing however I keep thinking about doing the same things. Upgraded input and driveshaft. The front diffs are pretty strong except people blow them apart, trying something without the locker fully engaged and the dash symbol on. The locker engages under speed, and It blows the case apart. Actually I think we should do a video about that. Make sure that diff lock symbol is on before attempting anything.
There's a big catch that DynoJet doesn't go out of their way to explain clearly on their website. Once you buy this thing and pair it to your KRX, you can NEVER un-pair it unless you pay them another $250 for "another license." I didn't know this when I bought it, so when I decided I didn't want to use it, I was going to un-pair it and sell it. Nope, can't unless you're willing to pay more. It's a major rip. On every other tuner I've ever had (such as for my car or truck), you can un-pair the unit so you can sell it. Not so with this thing.
Lol. But the true answer is and should be posted. Once you download it to the machine it is locked to the machine. You can buy a credit from Dynojet later and change it to another machine.
108 octane boost works well for that. Some brands not so well. It would be fine as long as you don’t overmix it and create too much octane. Then you’ll lose power.
Yes. Just follow the directions though. The most specific is do not turn off the ignition while it’s doing the programming. It keeps telling you that while you’re programming. However the tuner actually saves your original tune 1st before doing the new one.

My dealer said that Kawi supported aftermarket tunes and had no issue with them. Kawi is smart... that's the proper way to do it.
Love my PV3, I cut the black tape that holds the access port harness to the main harness, then that cap is easier to reach and remove
