- Boston was one of the most awesome groups to come out in the late 1970's, and they cranked out some REALLY good tunes. This is one of them. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed singing it!
Boston - Brad Delp - More Than A Feeling - Cover - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
OK, I have to be honest (not that I don't always try to be honest), but this song kicked my butt for several reasons.
I am a baritone.
What does that mean?
It means that my range is absolutely nothing like Brad Delp (and I mean nothing!).
But what it also means is that I can showcase the method that I teach in my singing course and that can help us all get to levels that we never expected.
If you listen really closely, my natural vocal range has nothing to do with Brad Delp.
You can clearly hear me switch from my chest voice to my head voice - that I have strengthened over the years - to allow me the privilege to sing the notes that Brad sings.
But there's more!
Since I spent so much time working on my head voice, I was able to take that to a whole new level.
Not only did I sing the high note that was interwoven with a guitar on the original album version, but I crushed that note at the end, doing something that he did not do, which was hold that long note with stamina that only comes with what I teach in my singing course.
I hope you enjoyed my version as much as I enjoyed doing it for you!

Fantastic! You prove KT that singing high as you age still can be done. You haven't lost a step my friend. God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍
I think this was originally done 3 years ago, but I'm sure he still has the high notes today.
We did Boston in the 80s I'm 65 now just can't hit the one's anymore
I love how much joy is on his face, this man loves music for what it is...the pure joy it induces. I can't carry a tune in a bucket but it doesn't stop me from trying to sing along in the car and/or shower!
Fits right into your register. Brad Delp would be impressed! Great job, Ken!

SALUTE U SIR U R AMAZING.ROCK ON.MANY THANKS.
Brad Delp is a hard guy to follow, you did the best that I ever seen, heard before! that was impressive! I'll never forget watching the Boston open up for the James gang and Foghat I think March 31st 1979 in Milwaukee Wisconsin at the arena they were the first band that played and they blew the James gang and the other band off the stage the headliner their voices were amazing I couldn't believe how good they sounded live and that was a few months before I went in the army

Amazing Voice!👑👑👑💪💪💪👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐💯🌐🔭☮️♾️👍🌍
Well sung. One of the unique sounds in this song is when Brad Delph would sing a high note and the vocal would fall out to be replaced by the guitar playing the same note. I worked security for their concert in 1987 Rupp Arena Lexington, Kentucky. During their warm up, before the audience was allowed in, it was strange hearing iconic passages from their list of hits, and they would stop the song right in the middle of it, start talking, and move on to go thru parts of other songs. Their album entitled "Boston" went 9x Platinum and they performed the entire album, all the songs one after the other just like the album, live at this concert. When a song would finish, you could hear the crowd's voice echoing the last word of each song. My understanding, they recorded a demo several years before they were discovered, and one of the members found the demo in a drawer several years later, (after they broke up?) and decided to try again to find a promoter, and the rest is history. One of the top selling rock albums of all time.
How they actually got signed differs from that account. To preface, Ken knocks MTAF out of the park here, and Brad Delp is (was) very hard to cover. Lots of power and high notes. Boston's founder is Tom Scholz - absolute genius composer and guitar player. Boston 1 (1976) is demo tapes he recorded in his basement, playing all of the parts except Brad's vocals. He shopped those around for a few years without a taker, eventually getting interest from Epic Records, whom themselves had said no at some point previously. Scholz relays more of the story also, regarding how he faked out Epic and made those demos go to print for the album, when Epic wanted it all redone. He just got help on the vocal arrangements, I believe from producer John Boylan. - RG
It's more than a feeling that I have for this song version you did. It was perfect! You are a living testament that a rock voice can last if its made to last. I wish Bon Jovi and some others had followed one of your courses.
Gezzez that was good, Thanks for sharing it
Very awesome! Very challenging song, and in more than one way. If I had to do this song in front of other people, I'd be sweating it even at my best.
