Tim Longo, the game director for Republic Commando, was also one of the directors for Halo 5. I think that explains the weird squad mechanics in H5. Unfortunately it didn't pan out as well in that game.
This game and the book series is among my favorite of ALL Star Wars media. Mandalorians and Clones are my absolute favorite factions, so this was made for me
Junko youve been killing it man. So cool to see you go from 2k subs to 43k so fast. Keep up the good work. Btw love the gameplay cut away gags. Reminds me of dunkeys humor and its great.
The pain of realizing that we never get to know what happens to Delta squad after this game ends, like sure we see them in clone wars but I need my bois back in action with context damnit
Fun fact. Those songs you hear are in mandalorian. Obviously after the clone wars and mandalorian show mandaloriandls arnt as unheard of but back then they wernt that mainstream and the lore was all the clones knew mandalorian and trained by multiple mandalorians. And they created a whole language for them.
Dude Imperial Commando would be a sweet sequel. Delving into the lives of Delta after the Clone wars I imagine as a Wetworks squad. You start the game hunting jedi and seperatist remnants but they're would be a sudden shift at the half way point where your targets or simply regular dudes in high ranking positions that rubbed the Empire the wrong way. At the same time dealing with the eventual distain from your Imperial Officers as clone began getting phased out. Eventually the Rebellion kicks off and a old grizzled Delta have to fight a counter insurgency against a surprisingly well trained guerilla militia only to find out that the leader of said militia is Sev surviving his last mission now vengeful about the clone war being a ploy to give Palpatine power
"only to find out that the leader of said militia is Sev surviving his last mission now vengeful about the clone war being a ploy to give Palpatine power" Honestly knowing they pitched both an Imperial Commando and a competing Rebel Commando game really gives me the impression that's probably what they were going to do if they actually did get to make Imperial Commando.
Definitely one of the better repcom videos out there. The editing was on point the whole way through. You're right about the tankiness trying to communicate something. Squad commands are one way to deal with it, but usually you need to be using a different piece of equipment. The logic about different grenade types applies to your weapons as well. The SMG melts through light infantry, the sniper rifle chips away at weak points, and the grenade launcher makes everything usen'ye during emergencies. When used in combination these make for some really fun drills, like giving yourself time to shoot weak points by applying the right stun effect. This is what takes the solo sections, admittedly the low points of the game, from frustrating to playable, and makes everything else highly expressive
Very well written script and visuals to complement. Also two videos were doing good this week. Never owned it when I had an OG Xbox but glad to have finished it now (not trophies but the story). The screen clean is that Metroid Prime seeing Samus' reflection level of cool details or probably other examples that are well appreciated for the time and sad we don't see now or I don't think about say much as games of the era. I only played it when the PS4/Switch remaster came out and yeah it's great. The heavy feel/old-school feel of a shooter is pretty good and darker tone is really good like Black 2006 did for just pure fun. The tactics/commands worked fairly well for how I expected of a cool idea, sometimes works sometimes doesn't. Never played a Rainbow Six game and can't compare to console SOCOM only PSP SOCOM but it does a fine job I think. I guess even Brothers in arms also in a way, another game I had a hard time with but eventually beat. XD The dialogue and battling together as brothers is so well done. Took me a bit to get used to the feel and doing certain things, gauging how bullet spongey enemies are, the long levels surprised me too, some checkpoints are good others are far back, the banter is pretty enjoyable, the ending was very sudden, the game had difficulty spikes that were off at times like the space station/ship many times it probably took me the longest to do that than Kashyyysk or Geonosis but I got past them but it was enjoyable even if tougher than Battlefront I thought but when I replay those I have different experiences even on normal difficulty and how the AI was to be that day. You can run out of ammo sometimes but not as bad if you think how to approach each situation well enough.
The books that Karen Travis wrote are really good. It gets into the stuff people hated about the sequels, the politics and trade disputes, and makes it actually really interesting by having a journalist character bring up questions about what exactly the plan is when the war is over and we have a reserve labor force of millions of clones bred for fighting. It's great stuff, I'd recommend any of the books she wrote for Halo or Gears of War too.
The ending feels abrupt because they were probably planning a sequel that got canned. It was supposed to involve Sev turning Delta Squad against the Empire because he likes the Wookiees and the Empire starts working with Trandoshans to enslave them.
Super funny, Intelligent, and well deserved of being blown up.... Blow him up please. Also... I love your passion for film making. Having student film acting for several films I was in and partial directing experience for one scene in a student film for one of my best friends throughout college (sadly it was only for a time and not a full blown career), I understand where your heart for this comes from. Furthermore I love how Star Wars has influenced/inspired you to become a film maker. Truly exciting stuff and I pray for you that you go far friend. You are one of the best comedians on TH-cam as far as content creators go that I've recently come acrossed and for that I will like and sub to your channel, stay amazing and most importantly... stay true to your roots Junko, we all love you bro 💜
If YungJunko keeps posting videos this frequently, I--- I'll... I'll have to kiss--- A trash can. And that is something I NEVER thought I'd do so happily. You've changed me Junko. Somebody call somebody!
TWO VIDS IN ONE WEEK. Deal. Hahah ...Prequel era SW content was so A+ for fans growing up, I think. I miss all the random stuff it brought us. I feel like I've commented it a bunch of times now, too, but I love all the small edits in your vids. FunContent! Glad youtube pointed me at the channel when I was digging through PSP stuff!
Just finished watching your last video because it showed up in my feed, so I checked your channel to see if I missed anything else and lucky me, new video uploaded 6 hours ago :)
I remember trying an Xbox demo for Republic Commando, but I didn't buy it. Thanks to a recent remaster on PS4/Switch, I was finally able to enjoy this gem. Wish it got a proper sequel, I like this more gritty War take on Star Wars. Too bad Disney owns it all now, ugh. Ever play the original PS1 Medal of Honor games? Currently playing the 1st one and except for graphics, it holds up surprisingly well. Enemy reactions to specific body shots is a lost art in most FPS games now.
I love this game. I had the same situation as a kid Junko. My parents PC had been overloaded by Runescape so there was no way I could use it for Republic Commando and I had no Xbox either. But on a side note, the Star Wars Boba Fett books were incredible. I tried to get all of my friends to read them. So many glimpses into so many great characters from the Clone Wars era.
Nice vid! Thanks for covering the game! I remember getting Republic Commandos from a friend on PC. We first started playing it with 2 v 2 via LAN 😂 I really digged the gameplay, the different weapons and the look. When I got home I enjoyed the hell out of the Singleplayer! I gotta say though: Playing this game I always felt they should have given the Singleplayer a Coop-Mode. After we played the Multiplayer and took a brief look at the Singleplayer with its squad team we were super surprised they didn’t include it Coop … back then we thought this should be a natural thing for a game like that. Still: awesome game that NEEDS a sequel 🤞🤞🤞
The game should have ended with them getting Order 66, and then cuts to credits. Seeing as episode 3 wasnt out yet, it would have been some epic foreshadowing
I got this game free with Xbox Gold. It’s decent, but I absolutely hated how ridiculously bullet spongy the enemies were. I got more melee kills than gun kills, and not by choice.
Thank God someone else loves this holy grail of a star wars game as much as i do; Not mentioned in the video but the Multiplayer on the PC was actually pretty fun. You could customize your own Clone trooper and your own trandoshan and fight off with the weapons scattered throughout the map. Eventually some modders got their hands on how to mod the lobbies so you could customize your trooper even more once you access them
Waiting on The Bad Batch season 2 to see if they actually use these characters. Scorch was an imperial commando in s1 and stomped 4/5ths of the main cast.
One thing to note is that there's been more cameos in Bad Batch. Series is kind of bland as a whole but my man Scorch showed up and Cody looks to be there in Season 2. The lads are there, just. Please give them another spotlight.
Glad this popped up in my recommended, I loved this style of review, really enjoy your vibe and humor, and the slice of pizza bit really got me 😂 Good stuff!
2 new Junko vids in a week?! Now this is podracing!
I was thinking the same thing, what a week! Lol
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
I've been looking forward to this!
His powers have doubled since the last time we met him!
This is getting out of hand, now there are TWO of them!
My man that game was a piece of art. In Mexico, it came in a bundle with the clone wars DVD. Those were the days.
really?! too cool! 😎
Yooo, thats sick!
I still can't believe that this game was made off of one line from Attack of the Clones.
It's like Rogue One but on steroids!
Tim Longo, the game director for Republic Commando, was also one of the directors for Halo 5. I think that explains the weird squad mechanics in H5. Unfortunately it didn't pan out as well in that game.
So many memories playing this game over and over again with my brothers
ditto
Hey man I working on Global mod inspired by this game. Check this out on my page!
This game and the book series is among my favorite of ALL Star Wars media. Mandalorians and Clones are my absolute favorite factions, so this was made for me

"...they're an army of child sholdiers that looks Temuera Morrison."
So you've been to New Zealand, I see.
JunKo's vids hit that right note of cozy nostolgia. Thanks Junko for making amazing content
Dude, I absolutely enjoy your videos. Don't ever change. I mean this.
This channel is for sure going to blow up! The content is just too good not to!
Dude Imperial Commando would be a sweet sequel.

This game is damn near perfect. Loved it as a kid and recently replayed it. It's so good, you can get it on Steam

Bro I actually love your videos. It’s surprisingly enjoyable learning about forgotten and obscure games from the early 2000s
The ending feels abrupt because they were probably planning a sequel that got canned. It was supposed to involve Sev turning Delta Squad against the Empire because he likes the Wookiees and the Empire starts working with Trandoshans to enslave them.
Man I agree. Sev dying at the end just fucking came out of nowhere and felt super abrupt ugh

Delta squad shows up in the Bad Batch for 1 episode, where they are training some of the first Stormtroopers. We may see them in another game one day.
21 more days till Junko talks about Treasure Planet
If YungJunko keeps posting videos this frequently, I--- I'll... I'll have to kiss--- A trash can. And that is something I NEVER thought I'd do so happily. You've changed me Junko. Somebody call somebody!
Yeah I really love the jokes so funny
I'd like to see this... Just as a fan! No other reasons...
7:01 Messa no have the boomba 🤣🤣🤣
And one last detail. They were about to contact Robin Williams to do the voice for Scorch, though they couldn't because of budget reason.
I’m just getting into this game again and YungJunko releases a video about it. We are one with the force.
This channel is so underrated it's criminal
I was obsessed with the books when I was a teen! Lucasfilm did Karen Traviss dirty.
I was also 10 when I played this for the first time I cried so hard when sev died !
adding 'never played republic commando' to my list of regrets. also i HAD that book in 2004 that cover shot me back in time lmao
A series of this dudes instead of the Bad Batch IMO XD
Junko simultaneously sounds excited to tell me something and desperate for me to listen
TWO VIDS IN ONE WEEK. Deal. Hahah

Perfect holiday videos. Someone else mentioned cozy nostalgia, I think they're right.
Great editing squad leader.
Always a blessed day when Junko drops a new video
Where did that order 66 "knock Dat pussy down cuz" clip come from. That shit had me bawling
That was me lol
Just finished watching your last video because it showed up in my feed, so I checked your channel to see if I missed anything else and lucky me, new video uploaded 6 hours ago :)
Glad I kept my copy of the game. Ahhhh memories!
Replaying this game right now, it hold up really well!
Nice vid trashcan man :)
That really was the golden age of gaming.
I may or may not get flashbacks to the bit on Kashyyyk where you have to fight two super battle droid dispensers at once.
Junko uploads are just a W
Junko vids are like if the nostalgic part of my brain was tucked into a cosy blanket and given hot chocolate
Absolutely love this game remember playing the demo on kotor2 and I was hooked, I could not wait for this game to come out back in the day
This is by far my most nostalgia game
Yesss! My child hood right here. Still play it today via the Switch port. Please also look at 'Yager' from the old xbox.
I remember trying an Xbox demo for Republic Commando, but I didn't buy it. Thanks to a recent remaster on PS4/Switch, I was finally able to enjoy this gem. Wish it got a proper sequel, I like this more gritty War take on Star Wars. Too bad Disney owns it all now, ugh.

lol loved that take on the slice. Great video!
This channel is such a delight.
Junko reminds me of the thumb wars pilots
I loved this game as a small youth, it strained my brain.

The Boba Fett book from that series where he goes to Tattooine and faces off against Durge, I remember being amazing
2:27 Just a quick slice . got me dead af
The AI were impressive especially for the time. Its one of very few games where id be fine planting the bomb myself and letting the AI cover me.
That did it, will get this game on switch. Great video as always;
Nice vid! Thanks for covering the game!

Junko! Doing a video on one of my favorite games. I love your videos. Genuinely one of my favorite creators!! Keep it up man.
1:09 lmao the one shot in the entire franchise where a live action clone wasn't played by Temuera Morrison, but rather Jay Laga'aia
The game should have ended with them getting Order 66, and then cuts to credits. Seeing as episode 3 wasnt out yet, it would have been some epic foreshadowing
Great video! Gotta check this one out!
This man speaks the truth we deserve a sequel and never got one it's just criminal.
Year of the Junko
Nice review 👌
2:27 JUST A QUICK SLICE
One of my favorite games of all time
I got this game free with Xbox Gold. It’s decent, but I absolutely hated how ridiculously bullet spongy the enemies were. I got more melee kills than gun kills, and not by choice.

Love your videos Junko
Republic Commando will forever be my favorite star wars game… brothers all!
Brothers in Arms but star wars is probably the best thing they could have ever done I want more games that are tactical squad shooters
Waiting on The Bad Batch season 2 to see if they actually use these characters. Scorch was an imperial commando in s1 and stomped 4/5ths of the main cast.
Junkoheads.... we eatin good!!!!!!
So excited for the gba review
your one of my favorite channels.
I love Junko. I loved this game. Junko/Republic commando late DLC confirmed?!
Hell yeah
Junko 🐐
I no longer have the OG Xbox, but I still have this game. I will have to see if it plays on the 360. Great game.
It can be played on all the xboxs i belive.
GOAT Game. My childhood.
It is so nice seeing some classic Xbox games getting love.
right on Junko! I recently got this Platinumed so what a treat my boy
One thing to note is that there's been more cameos in Bad Batch. Series is kind of bland as a whole but my man Scorch showed up and Cody looks to be there in Season 2. The lads are there, just. Please give them another spotlight.
Love this game and awesome channel
It’s a good day when junko posts
Yippee! Another Junko vid!
Good Soldiers follow orders!
I was bummed when they announced Bad Batch because I feared it meant no more Delta Squad.
Is the outro song from TMNT 3?? Lol
YUNGJUNK THE GOAT
Top 3 best star wars games for sure. Great video as always!
Glad this popped up in my recommended, I loved this style of review, really enjoy your vibe and humor, and the slice of pizza bit really got me 😂
Good stuff!
Pourin this one out for Sev
Just a *quick* slice...
i would love to play as delta squad 1 more and find out what happened to Sev.
Hey Junko love your content your the best
Great video but sometimes I do this game was a bit difficult but then again I played it when I was 14 years old in 2005
Bro came back with a new video fast!
I played this game on the Xbox One it was fun
