    There are plenty of RHD Ypsilons in the UK, but it was cancelled in around 2015. This, by definition, is not a re-badged 500 as the bodywork is pure Ypsilon. It's the same as saying the Leon is a re-badged Golf. This design is in keeping with the Lancia Delta 3.

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn’t say less than 5,000 RHD Ypsilon’s was ‘plenty’ over a four year period. Especially when Chrysler were hoping to sell that amount every year. I think you may have taken my question a bit too literally but in essence the Ypsilon is a mix of the Fiat 500 and Panda under the skin. Hopefully they can salvage themselves in the next five years before Stellantis pull the plug.

      The Leon is much nicer than the golf. The golf is pretty boring looking nowadays. Audi and seat are both out competing their parent company 😂

      I watched this review again and I must agree that you ought to learn about products before reviewing them. Ypsilon is Ypsilon. It shares a platform with Fiat 500 and that is it. You kept on going on and on about 500 even before taking a drive? How would you know how similar or different they feel? The first Smart Forfour used the same underpinning and engine as the Mitsubishi colt - are they the same car? Do they even feel the same?? When you do a review, you compare it to competition, not family. There are lots of segment A cars from other manufacturers to compare with. Why don't you go back to your Vauxhalls and Ford Ka? I hate this pointless review.

    The best version of the ypsilon is the 1.3L Multijet 95HP which was available. Quite powerfull for such a small car. Beautiful daily driver too!

    recently rented one in Sicily. The hybrid system makes it very tractable on steep mountain roads. And the 3-cylinder is quite smooth at high speeds. Good sound system! Poor visibility however, especially when turning left on a stop-sign junction: the B-pillar is badly placed and too fat. Altogether though, a quite pleasant little car.

    I recently rented one in Tuscany. Tuned in to learn more about the excellent hybrid system that easily tackled the steepest mountains and let it go 100mph on the autostrasse (until the batteries discharged). Will keep fast forwarding... Oh well, it seems you didn't discuss the combined starter/alternator/motor or the hybrid system. It is a quite competent car for the mountains with the electric motor's torque and let me travel quickly from Florence to Bologna, then to Rome.

    • @BuckleUpShow

      Interesting, as in my experience the hybrid system drained almost instantly on the hilly autostrada in Northern Italy.

    I really enjoyed watching your very accurate review of this car.....currently i,m driving one myself as a rental ( also in the Bergamo region )
    😅 ,and it's exactly how you described it !
    The engine lacks power and feels very tired ...and the gearbox ....well,i don't like that either 😂
    Its incredible that in these day's ,they produce a car with that many ergonomic flaws !...from the poor visibility in the rear ,the steeringwheel ,the rearview mirror ,the position of the vents behind the steeringwheel ,etc😮
    .the only thing i would like to say in its favour ,is the soft suspension ,that filters the mediocre streets in some parts of Italy reasonably well for a car in this segment .

      @@BuckleUpShow In fact....I was waiting for you to mention that the rearview mirror literally blocks all visibility of the right upper corner of the windshield, and is specially annoying on tight corners, so you have to look under the bloody mirror in order not to have an accident hahaha
      The "hybrid" function really does nothing, I only saw how the battery needle was going up and down without any help in acceleration, BUT it helped to reduce speed so you dont need to use the brakes that often because of the regenerative braking.
      With the rest, I absolutely agree with you ... and probably the panda is a bit more "honest" if we talk about specs and performance.

    The successor is coming out next year in continental Europe many Lancia enthusiasts looking forward to the new renaissance under the Stellantis group. The UK is in dire need of Italian beauty, passion and flair in the city car supermini segment since the axing of the Punto and the absence of Lancia there's been an Asian invasion of Kia Hyundai etc... Brits need to fall in love with motoring again.

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a few things - yes, we are hopeful about the revival of the Lancia brand, and the cars will almost certainly be better due to involvement from Stellantis.
      The Punto that was axed NEVER brought Italian beauty, passion and flair to the table - it was a rubbish car.
      The term "invasion" used in that context is highly offensive, and absolutely unjustified - Hyundai and Kia are producing some of the best cars across all segments at the moment, (especially when it comes to driving dynamics and equipment) and they're very good value, too.

    • @marcelhandsome6042
      @marcelhandsome6042 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuckleUpShow The Punto was groundbreaking back in 1993 and was best in class at the time so to write "rubbish" shows you're not really an enthusiast and sound like a philistine! The predecessor the Uno won the European Car of the Year award in 1984 and was the best supermini in the 1980s until the Citroen AX came along the Uno was the pioneer of the supermini. Quite frankly the supermini class in the UK has never been so boring that's why young people aren't buying cars anymore! I drive a Hyundai myself as good as they are they don't please car lovers nowhere near as much fun as my previous Fiats. I think the French and Italians are the masters of small cars that's my opinion.

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      You referred initially to the Punto being axed, which was the generation that was unarguably crap. Unfortunately, nobody my age has managed to drive a first generation Punto as they had all rusted away by the time we turned 17. Young people nowadays who don't buy cars either don't want one or can't afford a new one as everything has got more expensive. In terms of superminis being fun nowadays, I raise you the Fiesta ST or i20N, both of which are incredible drives.

      @@BuckleUpShow How can it be "crap" if it won the European Car of the Year award in 1994! Who's right you? or professional motoring journalists? It was also a huge seller selling millions are all those buyers wrong? Punto didn't rust because I owned four of them and Fiat galvanized the steel bodywork in 1988 at the time of the Tipo launch which was also the European Car of the Year! Not a fan of Ford Hyundai is a better manufacturer but don't satisfy the enthusiast. I'm waiting for the return of the Lancia Delta Integrale!

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Punto may well have been good when released in 1993, however that was a very different car to the one you referred to as being canned. That was the third generation one which was on sale from 2005-2018; far longer than it should have been. It was archaic by the time Fiat pulled the plug on it. We are professional motoring journalists so you can take our word for it - Hyundai absolutely satisfies the enthusiast. Just because our opinions about brands do not align with your own does not make them invalid or worthless 😘

      @@BuckleUpShow I guess BERETKA means that the Ypilson has a unique body, whereas rebadging is usually used to refer to cars that share the same body (like the Lancia Delta and Fiat Bravo, or Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet, albeit in the former case with a different front and rear end, and in the latter case a different front end). As you very interestingly pointed out though, it does seem that the Ypsilon shares some hard points (like the tailgate shape and location of the rear lights) with the 500 despite having two extra doors. The A-pillar angle and windscreen look like they are probably the same too? I can see your point about it being rebadged, as well as BEREKTA's point about the Ypsilon being unique... It seems like it is somewhere in-between a rebadging (e.g., Dodge Journey and FIAT Freemont that are completely identical) and being its own car.
