The pitch clock might play a role for the struggles for almost every player you mentioned and I think some of them just really haven't adjust to it not completely anyways
I still haven’t figured out if it’s hurting hitters or pitchers more. Pitchers can be easily taken off their rhythm. But also hitters have less time to think about what pitch is coming. To me it seems like teams are scoring more runs than last year, though I haven’t done any actual stat analysis.

That's because they usually already have a game plan on how to attack certain hitters or certain situations. They already know 3 pitches in advance. Similar to playing chess. For hitters, you definitely need to take a second and think about what's coming next. That's also why 3 true outcome baseball is the norm, because hitters now just sit on certain pitches or placement and sell out for it, in the hopes of doing something with the pitch
This season has been strange so far. A lot of players who were really good last year just haven’t gotten it together yet. It’s still early, but it’ll be interesting for sure to see if these players can turn it around.

He has been playing great this month though raising his slash line from .202/.373/.384 at the end of April to .256/.414/.474. Still not optimal by Juan Soto standards, but still a significant improvement nonetheless.

Byron Buxton has been ok so far this year but his expected stats aren’t great at all, and he needs to be mashing now given that he will likely only play 100 games due to some inevitable injury

He clearly hasn’t made any progress in this regard. Julio still has the type of talent where you expect him to eventually figure it out, but I think his progress would come quicker if he were in a better lineup which offered him more protection so pitchers were forced to pitch to him more. There’s like 2, maybe 3 hitters opposing pitchers know they can just pitch around in the Mariners lineup and they know they don’t really have to worry about anyone else hurting them because of how weak Seattle’s lineup is.

Didn't give up a run to the Yankees and was coasting against the Red Sox until a comebacker rattled him in the 5th (and that entire series was just bad for the Jays).

While none of these guys were expected to be all star caliber, they all had the potential to do so, and they have all been horrendous! But negative defense as an outfielder, a bad BA, and average power numbers doesn't equate to superstar. 900 ops should be his low point and not where he is trying to climb back to.

The entire Mets roster should be on this list if we are being realistic. I know what you're gonna say, what about Pete Alonso?! Look the guy can hit homeruns, I can't deny that. However, a guy who hits a solo-shot homerun when you are down 10-1 in the 9th inning isn't going to cut it for me. Then Pete will have a bases loaded situation when the team is down a run and he will strikeout like its his job. If you ask me a hitter like that is useless despite the pretty numbers he puts up on paper. Another disappointing season ahead for the Mets while their foes the Braves and Yankees are holding their own.......I love it!
A lot of the good pitching struggling has a lot to do with no shift too. A lot of these guys that would for sure hit it into the shift are smacking it thru the hole and getting on base. Abreu always starts off slow though, his home run total last year was low as well so maybe it's age. HOF regardless.
Scherzer spent spring training playing silly mind games with the pitch clock and completely screwed up his pitching rhythm in the process. Has not recovered. He's an OCD kind of guy and the clock is in his head big time.

The entire Mets roster should be on this list if we are being realistic. I know what you're gonna say, what about Pete Alonso?! Look the guy can hit homeruns, I can't deny that. However, a guy who hits a solo-shot homerun when you are down 10-1 in the 9th inning isn't going to cut it for me. Then Pete will have a bases loaded situation when the team is down a run and he will strikeout like its his job. If you ask me a hitter like that is useless despite the pretty numbers he puts up on paper. Another disappointing season ahead for the Mets while their foes the Braves and Yankees are holding their own.......I love it!
A lot of the good pitching struggling has a lot to do with no shift too. A lot of these guys that would for sure hit it into the shift are smacking it thru the hole and getting on base. Abreu always starts off slow though, his home run total last year was low as well so maybe it's age. HOF regardless.
Scherzer spent spring training playing silly mind games with the pitch clock and completely screwed up his pitching rhythm in the process. Has not recovered. He's an OCD kind of guy and the clock is in his head big time.

I’m not worried about springer at all, he has battled a few illnesses & has been incredibly unlucky, the amount of hard hit line outs he has had is unreal, even though he has failed the stat test so far, he is passing the eye test
