I highly respect your polite way in replying to some of the comments. If one to be realistic they have to think twice or even more when comes to real fight circumstances. Most wingchun fighters fail under pressure due to lack of evolvment. Wing chun is a fighting system but in essence its a principle which can be applied to any martial art. As for balance or stance every fighter is different and you have to adjust to what work for you. I appreciate your effort and knowledge
I agree about your point it is a set of principles that can be applied to other martial arts. I am not a Wing Chun stylist but I have successfully used some of the Wing Chun concepts in sparring and against resisting opponents. I know it works and truly believe it is a case of it really depends on the fighter and what he is capable of rather then a question of whether the style is any good for the street. Even Bruce Lee didn't just settle for WC and realized to be a true and complete fighter and to be good at fighting you have to cross train and train in several martial arts, including boxing. He had the right idea and way before MMA he realized the truth of combat.
@@punisher7772 i couldnt say it better, i practised many other martial arts and to be honest spent more time in them than win chun, but just like you i used its principles in variety of them and was more efficient. Simplicity is the key to be effective but no system is complete, you have to find what works for you. I appreciate your input.
I love how you said that. “ you have to use resistance to learn how to shut it off” in my teaching I’ve been trying to formulate that concept into words so that helped a lot!! Thank you!!
Damn man this channel is going into new awesome directions it has never been before. Interweaving concepts such as grappling, changing levels, using the right muscles, etc. Just what I wanna see in a Wing Chun video. Keep em coming. I'm excited to watch each new video that you upload. Respect
Great video as always, I know what you mean about this, my Sifu was from mainland China and was very traditional at times but he was also very practical when it came learning how to apply his stuff, he had served in the Chinese military and for a time in the Chinese Police, he used to find it funny that everyone he seen in the west seemed to be very static in how they did Chi Sao let alone anything else Wing Chun related at that time over 20 years ago now, he used to me in his broken English "when fight comes, fight don't pose, and punch them in the face, no stand there move" his approach has worked for me well enough while working some very rough security Jobs around Europe in my time and a few tight spots in my everyday life too. Keep you the great work sir 🙇♂️
I would say this. Some of the comments you read out makes sense, but it’s not easy to understand. Like the one that says “pointing your fingers towards your opponent”. Activating the fingers while doing the techniques will relieve pressure from other arm muscles. Essentially when your fingers are concentric, your arm can now be more eccentric. And from what science tells us, eccentric contraction generates a bigger force compared to concentric contraction. Again this is not something that is easy to explain in words or even videos. But to simplify, there are multiple joints in the arm and leg, and it would benefit us to explore using more joints while doing a movement because using more joints means activating more muscles.
I agree and like everything you are criticizing about how some people think muscle and stance alone will allow one to be good at wing chun. Thanks for providing a reality base check for those who are still fantasying about wing chun. Love your no-nonsense video Izzo. More power to you!
Even Bruce Lee took Wing Chun to another level and he knew having strength was the key to winning the fight. You can play Sticky Hands all day, but be ready to beat the crap out of an opponent quickly and without mercy.
i respect your attitude towards this. i took jkd for a year, also prior to that some aikido and boxing. (none extensively though). but i have high pattern recognition and natural ability to move and hit hard. i noticed in jkd something vastly different from aikido which i felt was the only thing aikido was superior in. when someone is leaning in moving fast and aggressively to attack you you can’t stand in your wing chun or jkd stance and just block or trap your way through that. UNTIL i can ‘take your center’ im not positioned correctly to mitigate your attack. i need to move, side step, deflect…. THEN when an opening comes i take your center, your balance and stay inside. there is one technique that i think is very valuable in an attack involving momentum in jkd it’s when you’re blocking while striking simultaneously with straight jab while opponent is throwing a typical momentum punch.. otherwise you’re not ‘trapping’ that. or maybe someone can educate me otherwise. im open to it i just need to see it..
I practiced Taijiquan for quite a while without understanding the meaning of relaxing and sinking and rooting. You will think you do, but every time I’d train two-person practice, nope. You’re right about movement. We train stationary push hands first to ‘get it’ but after that you do moving push hands (waaay different). Once you start feeling what the idea is, go back to your solo form! The only way I can describe this feeling is being that of a tracked excavator but instead the big arm is made of flexible graphite, so if anything tries to uproot your tracks, they’ll just twist and flex the arm (your upper body and limbs) with no chance of destroying your root. Once you know your form(s) well enough, you can then put your mind at your waist, hips, legs, and feet to ‘drive’ your every move, be it to the shoulder, elbow, hand or fingers while doing your solo form.
Great points. I am not into the martial arts like used to be, but when I was heavily into it, we did a lot of sparring, because there you truly learn what works, what doesn't work, and perhaps you need to modify. But, above all, keep it simple. Take care, Sifu.
Izzo, there might be days where you think "why do I waste my time trying to explain this to locked minds?" If so, I say to you KEEP IT UP. You are reaching people.
One of my Sifu's told me a story of the old days in Hong Kong. Three students, one short, one tall one average they were all learning the bong sau, but their Sifu (one of Ip Man's students) taught them the angle of the bong sau differently to accommodate their height difference. The problem being the Sifu did not explain this, so when they went out and became Sifus they taught they're students the "traditional" way they learnt it and so tall or short or average all learned it in the same angle. My last Sifu was quite short and I am quite tall and his bong sau is useless for me. Buy my instructor before him (who sadly died) customized it for my size while also explaining to me why he was doing this and teaching me the other angles (so when I started teaching...which I am now doing.... I could accommodate different body types). As a consequence those I train with describe my bong sau as dropping like a bomb. With regards to stance, my first sifu said 50/50 weight and he had a wider stance (but like me is quite tall), while my second instructor (the one who died) said 60/40 but three of his students who also teach now said anything from 60/40, 70/30 and 100% back....what they are all saying is what works for them. The most important Sifu in my training told me that the mistake in Wing Chun is to think of it as a set of golden rules when in fact it is a philosophy of movement. The reason I like Wing Chun so much is that it is so customizable......if you let it be.. Remember it is a martial art and art is an expression of the self. It is the schools/systems that teach it as a dogma and unchanging that are killing this art and making the critisizems of people like Joe Rogan accurate.
1:42 I think the issue is which finish tools we are using and which ones the commenter is using.. if you use your deflections, and only POKE towards the eyes n throat.. no street puncher has a chance.. if you’re going with the CHEUNG CHOY like Sifu Dom likes to do, then you’re gonna need waist energy for punches.. so for BUI GEE and soft tissue destructions we use FINGER JAB EXCLUSIVELY.. for practice we use CHEUNG CHOY cuz it intercepts, but it’s shorter.. safer.. in street fighting we always use FINGERJAB
Dude I love your show. Keep pushing 🫸 bro. Do what's comfortable to you all our bodies have strengths and weaknesses. Respect what you're doing. Thanks for taking the time
Everybody is different, Size, shape and mobility to name a few things effect how we move and our "effectiveness". Not everyone is built the same. Most people who "know best" has never actually been in a real fight in their life. And their expert views show that. I'm boring, lazy, fat and old and have to deal with many who remain inside their school and tell me what I am doing wrong. I'm ok with that. I want people to assume and underestimate, two big things that can determine a real fight. I have not been formally trained in Wing Chun, but I do enjoy some of its skill sets. I think Wing Chun is the only Chinese art I can say that about. These kinds of comments come no matter what system someone follows. Everyone always has ways to correct what you're doing "wrong" especially if it is working for you. I say this all the time, it isn't wrong if it works. I don't care if my feet are too close, too far, not at the "right" angle. I don't care if my entry should be like this. I completely comprehend that you know more and better than I do and if I listened to you, I'd be more awesome. I sometimes wonder how I have survived all these years without these skilled, experienced pros at my side adjusting and fixing everything I have been doing all wrong my whole life? If you want to crap on someone, come over to my channel and crap on me, I'm ok with it. Plus, I could use the views and comments.
What you are talking about is exactly why Aikido, wing chun- adn all that traditional crap is exactly that.. CRAP.. I'm a retired ranger, have high ranking black belts in 5 arts (that are damn near USELESS in reality) and 40 years experience as gov.t bodyguard-- with over 1000 TRANSACTIONS to my name (I call them transactions instead of fights becaue someone ALWAYS pays- one ay or the other) and only 2 losses!!!! I Agree with YOU..
Thanks for your no BS content. Luv the one when you were deadly afraid of a knife attacker. Mad respect for you. I've been in many fights too and see some of these channels. They look good when the opponent isn't moving I laugh at it. But this channel is is dojo, for the streets. Another episode where you explained MMA will kick your ass. Boxing will kick your ass. Kick boxing n whatever else if your not well rounded.
IT SOUND TO ME THAT HE IS SAYING THAT WING CHUN IS USELESS EVEN AGAINST SINGULAR STYLE SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE TRAIN IN IT AND WHY HE NEED TO BE THAT MUSCULAR.
I've only seen a few videos from you and I very much enjoy the fact that you're a wing Chun instructor and you talk about the realities of it all a couple more of your videos popping up on my feed might make me a new follower
Izzo clearly and respectfully lays out the difference between those who practive wing chun..as an art form and those who understand and know wing chun as a fighting system
This is very refreshing! thank you for this channel Sifu! Wing Chun's rigidity is what gets it such a negative reputation. I'd love to do Wing Chun but haven't found a class that hasn't been ridiculed yet, but your explanations and emphasis on aliveness and sparring inspires hope into the style for me! I only wish you taught in the UK! lol
If you are in uk tho I really would recommend Michael Wong, some people call him master Wong, people give him alot of shit too of course, but he's legitimately one of the best when it comes to martial arts
I totally agree there's one guy named Norton who also teaches Wing Chun he's no longer on TH-cam but he has some pretty good skills he always says to be soft and to use your structure in a lot of people say that and also say not to use Muscle only structure but I disagree I believe our structure is strong yes because that's our bone that's how we stay up but it's the muscle that makes it move and gives it more stability because bones alone cannot do things that's why God gave us muscle to move the bones around to throw our fists kicks or whatever so I agree use your structure but you have to use Muscle because if you cannot use your muscle then you won't be able to move your limbs at all and in a fight you need to be able to move your limbs as quickly as you can as hard as you can as fast as you can and put as much impact as you can and it is very hard is not easy people think that throwing punches and kicks is easy cuz it looks easy but it's not it's exhausting if you walk around with your hands up over your face like a boxer blocking just walking no no fighting no punching just walking sooner or later your hands are going to get heavy now if you add bouncing and jumping and actually a sparring type of scenario your hands will become so heavy it's almost like you're wearing LED gloves and that is one of the reasons why fighting is so hard because you have to keep your hands up it's hard so you have to be able to use Muscle and you have to be able to have the stamina to keep that up at all times until the fight is over
Izzo's Chinese Kempo is good. Chinese Kempo is real fighting Wing Chun is conceptual. Kung fu is exercise&hard work. Kempo is asocial violence. Violence is what wins fights. Izzos' understanding of Chinese Kempo is out standing. I would recommend him as a self-defense teacher from what I've seen and heard. Add more practical weapons to your art is my only advice. Otherwise keep up the good work representing Chinese martial arts.
I've been trying to implement WC concepts into my TKD (ITF) sparring. Can you give me advice on how to better implement trapping and simultaneous blocks/punches against opponents whom are good feinters (or who have good timing)? That's where I start running into problems.
@@IzzoWingChun Excellent follow-up vid. Another words, different tools, different situations. I think I"m on the right track then. Implement trapping techniques only when physical contact (i.e., the "bridge") has been established. Don't necessarily try to force it.
That is going to be really hard. TKD and Snake style background (Snake styles are really close and to likely the start point for WC's development) here, main issue you are going to run into is your ranges are all wrong. Typical TKD fighting range is just outside effective WC range. Where it will be helpful is in dealing with chargers while you reset to gain range, but not as part of your primary defense.
Hi Sifu, Can you do a review of everyone that you like and that can benefit from their dvd's, videos, or distance learning? I am trying to learn more about Wing Chun. Thanks
IT seems like 80% of Kung Fu comments, critique and advice are just ego. I don't think Kung Fu is proven to work by demonstrations with willing participants, we need someone actively trying to hurt us using whatever means they choose to see if it (our own skills) work or not. I am beginning to understand that the pure form of Wing Chun is conceptual, and provides only a foundation to build reactions in a real conflict. In a real fight, your feet may end up 50/50 at some point, your block may be smashed through by a stronger person who is running all around and changing range.
Good video bro, it’s good to get people to understand, a real fight is so far removed from the reality of some classes touchy tappy demonstrations, we’re people are some how getting lost first learning a technique in a class setting, is just the learning of fundamentals, and that applying techniques in actual fighting settings maybe the same fundamental but applied vastly differently, and the only way to really test techniques is to build up soft sparring gradually into full contact against someone who’s not using your martial art 💯😎
I'm curious about your assessment, Sifu Izzo, of the Buddha Hand Wing Chun system. In my experience, via a student of Grandmaster Leung, their skills are first rate. I know they have a school there in Chicago. Thank you for your analysis and explanation Sifu Izzo. 🙏
Very misleading statement. There is a specific set of the muscles that can be used for mobility and then clench for the strength. This was one of the concepts for JKD I believe. It is also a very good practice. Bouncing pads in boxing gloves is the same respect. You know how you play with new guys, all speed no strength. You know like boxing with your cat on the counter. You could seriously f someone up with a perfectly placed punch and a direction contraction ( from your core, moving in both directions to the foot and the hand ). I don't really know much wing Chun but I do know that if someone wants to hit you no matter their practice it will probably hurt as long as they have practiced throwing a punch.
Wing Chun is no different than any other art in how some people want a magic effortless art where like a Marvel movie they can defeat an opponent without breaking a sweat. Unfortunately we aren't super hero's . Any art is only as good as how realistically you represent it. You can train all day with your buddies in the gym and back slap each other and go watch ip man , but if you never try to hurt each other , you are kidding yourselves.
No no no. You’re supposed to aim your fingertips into the opponent’s armpits then wiggle them until he gives up in a fit of giggles. Remember to wash your fingers afterwards in da jit jow.
Izzo, do you think that I am too small for wing chun? I know you have videos for smaller guys. I stand at 5 foot 2 and weight 135. In your best opinion, should I try to get as strong as I can? I know skill and practice are factors but, would you recommend power lifting for me?
Brother, I was roughly your height and same weight. My martial arts were crap until I bulked up. I opted to use steroids and it was the best decision of my life my life. You need to get as strong and big as possible, don’t wait. Your martial arts and fighting will not be effective otherwise.
This guy comes off as a meat head at times but he's bang on here. I mean, who are you going to listen to, a retired cop with 20 years of wing chun who has used it when needed, or some dude with a collection of Yip Man books and all the "secrets". This advice extends to all traditional arts.
I think one of the overall problems is the idea that there can be a single stance, a single way to move, and a single weight distribution. Fighting is dynamic by nature. As long as you try to maintain 70/30, you cannot move. The slightest movement - to a different stance, a punch, a deflection, a change of position, what-have-you, means you have to abandon the 70/30 for the moment. One might try to resume that weight distribution, but it can be maintained only for a moment if there is intention to continue to move. Really, I just let out a lot of blah, blah, blah. What it boils down to is fights are dynamic. No position or consideration can be held for anything more than a fraction of a second. Therefore, there is No One Way.
@@brucewayne7831 That would depend on the person's goals, needs, history, and abilities. Would you require a 70 year old to spar? The biggest problem is absolutism - the idea that there is only one way that applies to all people, all conditions, at all times.
@@wingchun-sc A boxing coach can teach a 70 yr old to box without having to spar because the techniques and methods have been tested. Be honest how many Wing Chun Sifus have really tested what they teach? Out of those how many have tested and succeeded at a high level?
@@wingchun-sc Notice how you immediately jump to using a senior citizen? Take a 45 yr old and have him take Jiujitsu for a few months and he would 100% know learn and know how to submit and control people on the ground. Bottom line is you either know what it takes to put someone down or not. There are people at boxing gyms that just train and dont spar but theyre training with people that know what works.
The “triad stance” is “santi” three powers stance, you need a slight forward lean from the waste, and maintain the three triangles, your toes your nose your hand, your head your hip and your foot, your hand your elbow and your hip, Xing Yi is the deal, great channel. Do what military people do.
Well its social media, many train and never been in a real fight. Everyone's wing chun is different. For example people are different height, size and structure. Good point because some people never been in a real fight. People see Ip man movies and think the fight is suppose to be clean and pretty. Good video and thanks for sharing.
All your points are sound. Many things influence trapping efficiency. If you train MMA and use varied sparring partners you'll find out what's functional for you real fast regardless of your opinions. Understanding kickboxing, boxing, wrestling and ground and pound ranges are the foundation of functional open fighting. Trapping exists in & out of all ranges as a control mechanism for precise timing, position, pressure control and tool selection. All the validity you need is to watch combat sports. Sparring mixed with flowing are for mental preparation for getting in sync with your mind and body connection. They also let you learn to absorb what is useful, reject what is not and ad things that work specifically for you. Exposure to combat sports can help you see a need for trapping or not...
Hey man, thanks for the video. There's a channel called Armchair Violence and he just dropped a video saying the center line principle is bullshit. I haven't done much wing Chun, but it seems like he's misinterpreting the principle. Can you take a look and see what he's saying and clarify? Thanks bro.
I love your response btw, and I think this guy is really misinterpreting the "targeted finger" training, which has it's purposes, but that's not it lol
Hi, new subscriber😁 have you seen Sifu Tu Tengyao yet? He s teaching an offensive style of Wing Chun So that way should work? Thanks for the vids, Have a great day
The truth is wing chun is so far away from yip man now. I learned from a waiter who taught a guy who taught a guy who taught a janitor who showed me wc. It’s that way with tai chi, akido, ba gua, xing yi, etc etc. one founder could do it, the telephone game waters it Down.
I know you say if you see wing chun in a video it usually isnt and you did a form of wrestling before wing chun. Randy couture has a video out showing a live resistance drill of standing grappling clinnching to feel and shift position to feel where the other is off balance and I know he also did a style of wrestling that helped him out alot in his ufc career and it did remind me of some of the stuff you show. Thanks for the vid. Have a good day.
you can be a good fighter with wingchun ...you can really make it work much better if you have the internal aspect down. Don't forget the style was concieved by a small women so im sure muscle wasnt the dominating factor. I
Interesting! Wingchun that Use Muscle & Structure in the sametime looklike a Hung gar sty (Agree) Wingchun if no Muscle it lack power to end the fight except use ilegal Movesets like poke the eyes etc.stuff Origin of Wingchun came from Nun so she dont train Muscle for sure and use Only structure alone. but She never fight a Boxer or western and other asia strong fighters before. (Disadvantage) Apply Muscle with Wingchun = Yin & Yang Concept
Love that But the part in last few seconds sums it up All sparring eventually ends up as kickboxing Difference is if you’ve studied various arts then you’ll have kickboxing your way and that’s not something you will learn in any school because it’s yours
You need power in a fight and there are several ways to generate it. But if you need muscle and have to rely on physical strength how are you going to defend yourself when your old and not physically fit ? And I don't care if you train at a gym and develop a muscled physique it will be useless against a bigger and much stronger opponent. Most real fights they are gonna be bigger either that or they will use a weapon ( especially if they are a criminal or just chicken shit and don't have the confidence to use their fists ) or have their friends help them jump you. Also in regards to weapons muscular strength means absolutely nothing when it comes to sharp edged weapons such as knives. You will just be a bigger target and probably will bleed .... A LOT. I do agree there are many delusional practitioners in the dojos ( and it's not just Wing Chun but lots of other styles too ) who have never been in a real fight , never sparred or even trained with a resisting partner who are just fooling themselves if they think they will be successful in a street fight, especially if they think because they have memorized a few forms and know some self defense techniques they believe they could really defend themselves. That is until they get hit hard in the face. They will most likely get beat up pretty bad especially if their attacker is very violent and aggressive or much larger. They will probably get knocked out and get their head stomped on.
Learn to use the Wing Chun theory and concepts with the idea that you're fighting the shapeshifter and as that shapeshifter shapeshifts into whatever posture you have to use the centerline theory and all the other theories of windshield in that moment according to the shape of that energy being expressed if that person drops their ass low you need to drop your ass low in football we have a term the low man always wins and if you're winch on and your ass is up high you're going to be top heavy the grappler Jiu-Jitsu guy judo are going to knock you on your ass the great Street fighters they know how to do this they know how to spit that ass down so they stay underneath their opponent you can do this with Wing Chun and maintain a center line Forward intent focus
Actually i have won street fights using one shuto to the throat off the attackers striking arm.The attackers have always been 20 years younger than me. 1 second fights.I am now over 69 years old. Goju ryu
Misunderstanding of practicing "gong" and practical usage The striking positions that work are generally the same regardless of the martial art, so we need to work off of those instead of forcing the "gong" aspect of our martial arts into practical situations. "Gong" refers to "kung" in kungfu, and mostly it's basic training, ie mechanics and form. Trying to force these in sparring, sorry it doesn't work that way. The opportunity needs to show up or be set up and then maybe it will show up because you practiced it a few thousand times, you cant stand in a position and expect your opponent to set up the position perfectly for you to ip man them
Well you are correct. Generally I do see wing Chun as a starter striking style. However he is misrepresenting the purpose of the exercise he demonstrated with the elbow or whatever saying you won't get any strength. The movement of the body has to be understood in order to properly throw a punch. There is a very simple set of 5 exercises that you need to have down before you even attempt any striking sport. 4 if you aren't going to be kicking. These 5 exercises show you how the body moves in a way that most don't understand. Pretty simple stuff but a lot of people don't do them because they feel they are un-needed but hey. If you know "Listen to my muscle memory contemplate what I've been clinging too" really means, then you already know quieting of the mind meditation. Meditation reached through repetitive attempts. A lot of people don't reach that level of training. They don't know how much time and energy they have to invest into a jab to make it feel like a sledge hammer.
Thank you showing us the correct way of resistance in wing Chung. I respect all martial arts form. But most styles lost the real life fighting. We need to understand that back then if you get into a fight its death. So you fight to survive and if you're a fighter. Then your training for that one purpose fighter, then you train for another purpose fighter for servial months
The art could only work to the train student that dedicate himself to go beyond most human abilities so if the art fails didn’t fail at all it was the man not knowing how to harness the whole earth to work and his benefit in a self-defense situation
I trained under Yip Man in the top secret style of Wing chun. I was Yip Man's number one student, and Bruce Lee was his number two student. Yip Man had me teach Bruce Lee regular Wing Chun, not the top secret Wing Chun with egg roll. I tried to fight in the UFC, but Dana White said he would only let me fight ten heavyweights at the same time, with one hand tied behind my back. The reason being is that Dana White had me fight Jon Jones in secret. I had a bad cold, and an STD the day of my fight with Jon Jones, so it took me three minutes to beat him. The CIA, CNN, FBI, NSA, named me the most dangerous man who ever lived. Yesterday just for fun I beat off five Navy Seals and one dolphin. What's my point? Don't make me mad or I will send Will Smith to slap you "Chris Rock style". Is that my point? Anyway, I got to go because my girl friend who only charges me $50. for sex is calling me.
This style seems like it doesn't work. I've never seen anyone pull it off in a live fight. Finger jab, for sure works great. I'm talking Trapping and sensitivity stuff is not realistic as the opportunity passes by the time you try the next move.
Wing Chun Bullshido … you have to do it the classical way? … oh boy … those commenters haven‘t seen the TH-cam stress testing of traditional arts. In a Street scenario you stay there like Bruce Lee or movie Ip Man? No … you Haltevorrichtung adapt to dynamics. You have to make principles work under stress and with unexpected incoming angles. Wing Chun has so much cool stuff. Bring it in the 21th century! As my former Sifu once said: if it looks like Whin Chun it is not Whing Chun.
LOL you really don’t know Wing Chun nor do the people writing you questions. How many street fights have you been in and when was the last one. I’ve been in dozens. Last year was my last one.

Dom, Keep YOUR Wing Chun coming....great video! It's all about finding YOUR Wing Chun, folks.
Every. Single. Day.
@@tomrizenah he’s like saying that TRADITIONAL wing Chun is useless and it’s kinda true
I only wish you taught in the UK! lol
Even the very best are ridiculed daily lol, no need to worry about that, just train lol
Great video, here in Brazil we watch alot of your videos! Thanks!
I've been trying to implement WC concepts into my TKD (ITF) sparring. Can you give me advice on how to better implement trapping and simultaneous blocks/punches against opponents whom are good feinters (or who have good timing)? That's where I start running into problems.
Literally just filmed a vid about this tonight and will be posting next.
Where it will be helpful is in dealing with chargers while you reset to gain range, but not as part of your primary defense.
street fights are kinda simple. it's whoever gets hit or slammed first is pretty much done.
Hi Sifu,
Can you do a review of everyone that you like and that can benefit from their dvd's, videos, or distance learning?
Good video bro, it’s good to get people to understand, a real fight is so far removed from the reality of some classes touchy tappy demonstrations, we’re people are some how getting lost first learning a technique in a class setting, is just the learning of fundamentals, and that applying techniques in actual fighting settings maybe the same fundamental but applied vastly differently, and the only way to really test techniques is to build up soft sparring gradually into full contact against someone who’s not using your martial art 💯😎
sensitvity training leads to feel, feel leads to flow.
Thank-you for really adding thought to this Art! I hope ne day to learn more from you in person. Cheers!
It's your WingChun. Do what your need to do!! Keep it up.
The "dont use muscle" stuff always confused me. Wanna move any part of your body? You need to use muscles
Lots of those stuffs are crazy and not making any sense. Good that you point it out.
2:06 it’s called SHIFTING actually
YES!
The biggest problem is not sparring
Wing Chun is intended to focus the force or energy into the center in sort of a triangular manner , like to the center of your tripod stance etc
Is, training with sap gloves or resistance bands, good for training resistance? For Wing Chun Sifu.Izzo
FACTS
Against a bjj black belt you'll be taken down np
So is boxing useless because of that?
I thought we weren't supposed to be vulgar on TH-cam.
Hey man, thanks for the video. There's a channel called Armchair Violence and he just dropped a video saying the center line principle is bullshit. I haven't done much wing Chun, but it seems like he's misinterpreting the principle. Can you take a look and see what he's saying and clarify? Thanks bro.
so what do you think of Aikido?
You, sir, have yourself a new subscriber.
Lmao finger energy🤣
I love your response btw, and I think this guy is really misinterpreting the "targeted finger" training, which has it's purposes, but that's not it lol
lets see a cage match between you and Joe Rogan.
Love it Dom. Keep up the good work
Hi, new subscriber😁 have you seen Sifu Tu Tengyao yet?
He s teaching an offensive style of Wing Chun
So that way should work?
Thanks for the vids, Have a great day
I personally don't like wing Chun but I cannot lie it's effective if used properly. but I'm personally a lethue guy
The truth is wing chun is so far away from yip man now. I learned from a waiter who taught a guy who taught a guy who taught a janitor who showed me wc. It’s that way with tai chi, akido, ba gua, xing yi, etc etc. one founder could do it, the telephone game waters it Down.
Wow that first critique 😂
I know you say if you see wing chun in a video it usually isnt and you did a form of wrestling before wing chun. Randy couture has a video out showing a live resistance drill of standing grappling clinnching to feel and shift position to feel where the other is off balance and I know he also did a style of wrestling that helped him out alot in his ufc career and it did remind me of some of the stuff you show. Thanks for the vid. Have a good day.
Fuckin A, thanks for this.
Great commentary, this is why I can’t stand martial arts forums. Always some arm chair critiquing someone like Dan the Wolfman or Steven Seagal.
Hip power and solid structure is everything otherwise your wing chun will fall to pieces.
Can I have the site where I get your gear. Thk
www.bioproteintech.com code RANT
you can be a good fighter with wingchun ...you can really make it work much better if you have the internal aspect down. Don't forget the style was concieved by a small women so im sure muscle wasnt the dominating factor. I
Interesting! Wingchun that Use Muscle & Structure in the sametime looklike a Hung gar sty (Agree)
Wingchun if no Muscle it lack power to end the fight except use ilegal Movesets like poke the eyes etc.stuff
Origin of Wingchun came from Nun so she dont train Muscle for sure and use Only structure alone.
but She never fight a Boxer or western and other asia strong fighters before. (Disadvantage)
Apply Muscle with Wingchun = Yin & Yang Concept
Love that
But the part in last few seconds sums it up
All sparring eventually ends up as kickboxing
Difference is if you’ve studied various arts then you’ll have kickboxing your way and that’s not something you will learn in any school because it’s yours
Love it. Helping to make wing chun great again.
Nothing is perfect , so does wingchuen.
It needs to progress with more “modern technique “.
Actually i have won street fights using one shuto to the throat off the attackers striking arm.The attackers have always been 20 years younger than me. 1 second fights.I am now over 69 years old. Goju ryu
Sifu Francis Fong will agree with you!
I like this guy. Realism
How canhe push you wen you are built like a TANK ! 💪🔥🔥🔥
OMG! Ng Mui is turning in her grave! How dare you not fight like a Buddhist nun? Shame on you, sir.
Misunderstanding of practicing "gong" and practical usage
The striking positions that work are generally the same regardless of the martial art, so we need to work off of those instead of forcing the "gong" aspect of our martial arts into practical situations.
If you know
"Listen to my muscle memory contemplate what I've been clinging too" really means, then you already know quieting of the mind meditation. Meditation reached through repetitive attempts.
A lot of people don't reach that level of training. They don't know how much time and energy they have to invest into a jab to make it feel like a sledge hammer.
I have no problem with traditional
Dojo? There are no dojos in Wing Chun
Very Good! Static Dogma, even most the Pistol Instructors no realism, no movement!
Thanks again for sharing your hard work and excellent warning ⚠️
Good my dear friend Izzo
Using muscle is the weakest energy to use.
Fingertips power vs hip power…thats some dumb stuff, lol
Sorry, too much common sense here for today's society to obsorb and digest. (*New subscriber here for sure!)
The dummy's good for the pushing and pulling aspect.
Hey your father rest in peace he loved you so much Danny I hope the family know that Danny with love your friends
This style seems like it doesn't work. I've never seen anyone pull it off in a live fight. Finger jab, for sure works great. I'm talking Trapping and sensitivity stuff is not realistic as the opportunity passes by the time you try the next move.
People should stop telling a master or a trainer what to do or how to do it
You can’t wear a tight shirt when your gut is exposed like that. Kills the purpose of the tight shirt.
Phylum white dragon Daniel K pie grandmaster and his son my friend Danny may you rest in peace you were hard to handle Danny but you were my friend and I was yours
