I have just started to watch your videos and I am blown away by the information you give but mostly by your thought process. AMAZING !! thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge. I am now hooked and need to take out a personal loan to buy EVERYTHING!!! LOL
Cannot believe anyone is bored of you, your voice is so relaxing, and your videos are soo informative, could watch them over and over again, and I have to say there’s not a artist I can say I could watch over and over. I learn soo much each time I replay the video🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🫂
I'm back, doing 101 again, thank goodness I can rewatch your tutorials over and over. I was making some Halloween cards with oxides and my backgrounds did'nt quite look right. You knew actally what I was doing wrong. I was'nt drying. Thank you so much Tim.
I needed this info! Thank you Tim! I am a late bloomer when it comes to crafts (crafted with the kids etc and I have done coloring with colored pencils all my life, but no inks etc and on this level) . I discovered junkjournaling about six months ago and it has been a wonderful journey and now i am not limiting myself to any type of craft, I just explore and learn andsimply feel happeir than ever at 52. I learn sooo much from your lives so I watch them all one by one and sometimes more than once ❤⭐
So glad I watched this. I’ve been playing with your inks & oxides for years, so thought I knew how to use them, but would never have been able to combine this many colours, or thought to use an ink blender to add a new colour & make it feel at home with some drips.
I have been going over these tutorials, find little gems and tips which has me constantly learning new techniques to try. Absolutely love this. Thank you Tim
Thank you for the time you invested to such a detailed and truly comprehensive guide to Distress and Oxide inks. I’m ready to go and experiment now from a fresh perspective. You deserve so much more credit.
You are so inspiring, Tim! Lucky me, I found your videos!!! I’ve been in a bit of a slump, and now I cannot wait to start playing again ;) Thank you so very much for your methodology of teaching your techniques; it helps me (A LOT!) when the “why’s” are explained, you’re very fun and exciting to learn from! You have left me feeling that there is no limit to what I can do now ;)
I've been watching you, literally for ages. I first saw you on Carol Duvall. Yeah, that long ago. Anyway, I just wanted to say ""Hi" and also to let you know that Mario is adorable. I'm glad you include him in your videos. The two of you make me smile.
I FINALLY took some time to watch one of your videos. Mind blown! I need to look-see if you can do these techniques on canvas. I need this on my wall. TY for sharing so many great ideas.
This is so helpful! I only recently started dabbling in alcohol inks & wondered what the Distress Inks line was all about. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
I had no need of a dang sprayer!! Until Tim Holtz told me why he likes the Ranger sprayer!! Lol (its okay my husband says any excuse to shop and I'm there) 😄
Would love for you to make a spray that allows you to spray on a painting to add background but resists sitting on the watercolor or gouache paint. I've wanted to use the distress sprays as a background, but without having a hard line from covering the painting while I spray or getting the spray on my painting.
When I worked as a child care educator (8 years ago now) I used to say “you get what you get and you don’t get upset” the kids liked it and went along with it too they would repeat it to each other when playing too so funny 😂
Hi does anyone have an idea what colours are on the custom pad pre made ink are please? It consists of 5 colours? Picked raspberry twisted Citroen wilted violet etc? Thank you
Watching his videos, he will tell you, ink is a suspended medium. You can store them flat n right side up, as I have for years. You can store them how you like. You do you, is what he will tell you. 💕He never has a problem with them leaking. If the pad is over inked then they can leak. He stores his in the tin, you can see. They are right side up, just like when purchased in stores. Hope this helps.
He covers that at length at around the 6:00 mark of the video. His instruction covers both Distress and Distress Oxide, since he is displaying them BOTH side by side, stored on edge. But as he says, whatever you prefer, do that....unless you are somewhere humid and the pads leak. Then of course, store them flat.

Omg!! Ive discovered a new way to color. This is soo cool!!
I’m just starting to collect your distressed oxides how should the be stored, flat, up sided down or standing up.

I’ve just invested in 7 oxide inks, I mainly own pigment inks do I need separate blinder brushes for my distress oxides?
Either that or clean your brushes when switching from pigment to Oxide to avoid contamination.
Question and I hope you see this.
Can I use colored pencils on top of this medium?
Yea absolutely, once dry.
If ever unsure just try it. Experimenting is half of the fun when being creative
Yes. Colored pencils can be used on Distress Ink + Distress Oxide.
Do you get the same results on regular card stock?
The importance of surfaces was discussed in detail at 17:37 - Check it out.
Wow!! Thanks ⚾️
Can you use these with alcohol markers?
Distress Inks + Oxide are not designed to work with Alcohol Markers.
I love the saying you have.. creamy dreamy.. that one is new to me lol
