When I watched your video And saw that I could stamp with the distress oxide inks, I was sold! Thank you for this great tutorial! I can’t wait to try watercolor painting with them also!

Then I heard someone from Ranger say that they weren’t designed for stamping. Thanks for sharing! Now I know why I should invest in some more colors of Oxides.
They are still great inks to have, but yes, definitely better for techniques than stamping. :( Whereas I do really love to even stamp with the Oxides. I am thinking about a video sharing how to use regular Distress and Distress Oxides together, so stay tuned for that as you collect some more Oxides! Wow; I've always wondered but never explored how they work. The only question remains why anyone would use the distress ink given how versatile the oxides are. I haven't bought them and now will. Thank you.I love videos like this where we can see actual, tangible differences
I am so glad it was helpful! I do know people who still use regular Distress Inks for techniques and who prefer the look of watercoloring with them, but the Oxides are my go to number one faves! :)
Hey, regarding stamping with the regular distress inks, it works if you use an embossing pad like the versamark first. Ink the stamp with the versamark, don't stamp! And ink again with your chosen distress pad, the sticky surface prevents the the ink from "moving" on your stamp, sort of... I'm not sure why it works.
I actually don't have any problems stamping with Distress Oxide inks! But I do season all new stamps with multiple stamped images or putting versamark on and wiping it off.
@@RebeccaKeppel I didn't mean the oxides, I meant the regular distress inks. I got a few of the little sets when I started crafting again, and found a video showing that trick after struggling to use them for stamping... I love the oxides so much more though! I purchased my first Distress Oxide last week and practiced blending over the weekend with my new blending brushes. 😀 It was amazing. Even with my poor blending skills. Thanks for showing how versatile these inks are. Your video was so timely for me.
That makes me so happy to hear! They make SUCH a difference! I tend to be way to heavy handed with Distress Inks (with everything really lol) and so I end up with lots of harsh lines. No more with Oxides! Now they are my go-to ink. I love all the bright colors too!

The regular Distress Inks do watercolor differently than the Oxides because they dry with more of a traditional watercolor look. But if you're mainly going to use them that way, you could definitely just get the cubes which is way more cost effective than full sized pads. thank you so much for the explanation of the difference of the two types of distress inks. I had no idea. I only had distress inks...now i must go out and buy my distress oxide inks! definately going to try the stuff you showed. wonderful video!
Thank you for this video!! I needed this! You gave very clear distinctions between the two inks, and the analogy with paint vs stain cleared things up immensely!! Thanks for actually showing us various examples and providing ideas! Awesome!!! I will definitely be referring back to this once I get some Oxides instead of the distress inks I currently have!!💗💗💗
So glad to hear it was helpful! I was very proud of my paint vs stain analogy lol! So I am happy that it did actually make sense! :) I hope you love the Oxides as much as I do!
Thank you for doing an ink tutorial, I've been wondering about the differences between them and this has really helped... Have a wonderfully creative week ahead... Take care and stay safe my lovely... 💫😷🎨🤗🎨😷💫
Thank you for explaining & showing the different results. It helps justify the price difference between the two types of inks. Being a newbie it's hard to know what's worth the expense and quality of products.
Oxides are my go-to ink and I use them for everything, so you're right it does justify the price for me. I have never bought as many of one type of ink before. Usually I just buy a few of my favorite colors. That's how I started with Oxides too, but as I learned how much I love them, I bought more and more!
I have yet to try these. I've been eyeing those 12 packs on Simon Says Stamp for about a week now. Those particular packs are sold out in all the Australian craft stores currently so that tells you how popular they are! Thanks for this!
Thank you so much for these clear explanations. I'd given up trying to use Kraft card to stamp on because of how muddied the colours were . Now I've got to go and get out some oxide inks and try it - right now! Tfs x
Wonderful video, so informative. I do have all of the Oxides, but even still you reminded me of things I haven’t done with them, like the water coloring. Thank you for taking the time to put together such a great comparison. 🙂
I dont have any of the distress oxides but I do have a few in distress ink mini’s and I really like them. I am hoping that some day I will be able to afford some in my fave colors! Love your videos! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching and saying so! I started with Distress Oxides with just a few ink pads....and then when I realized how much I loved them I continued to buy a few at a time. You definitely don't need them all. But since they can be used for some many different techniques, they are great to have!
Rebecca I so agree I need to purchase a few at a time. My mini distress dry out so fast that I think I need to purchase the larger pads in the distress! Thanks! I appreciate your videos! They are really great to watch!👍
@@katzbaugh9806 That is so nice of you to say! :) I actually bought refills for my mini Distress Ink Cubes -- the ones that I like a lot and use up quickly. That tends to be the light colors like Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass. Distress Oxides only come in the one size, but if there are a couple of colors you like to use a lot I would recommend grabbing those refills too!
Thank you for the informative video. I have also become addicted to stamping with Distress Oxide inks! I actually use sponge daubers to apply the ink to my stamp because sometimes using the ink pad direct to my stamp puts out too much ink and can sometimes pool in detailed areas. but the daubers really help apply a thinner and smoother layer for those finer details or more subtle layers. Can I ask you where you got the mini cube of Speckled Egg Distress Ink? My understanding is that Ranger is waiting to release the new color cubes in sets of 4. I really don't want to wait!
That's a great way to deal with an extra juicy pad! The mini cube came in a Simon Says Kit two months ago, but it did sell out. I used it in this video: th-cam.com/video/3A9wadsbjMc/w-d-xo.html Good to know the mini's will be coming eventually! I wasn't sure if they just weren't producing them at all anymore! @@RebeccaKeppel it is. The colors look so dull before you wipe it off. The colors become so bright.
Such great ideas! Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching!
thank you so much for the explanation of the difference of the two types of distress inks. I had no idea. I only had distress inks...now i must go out and buy my distress oxide inks! definately going to try the stuff you showed. wonderful video!
Yesss! They are my go-to inks for sure!
You videos are so informative!!
I love this information; I’m changing all my ink pads!
So glad it was helpful! LOVE my Oxides :)
Thank you for sharing all this information. I wondered about the differences. Now I know!🙂
Yay! So glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I hope you love the Oxides as much as I do!
Thank you so much for this! I'll have to try one of these sometime. I appreciate you sharing your experience of these, nicely done! Tfs!
They are my absolute favorites! :) thanks for watching1

Great video, thank you! I’m definitely going to try some of your tips !
Yay! Have fun with your Oxides!
Thank you for doing an ink tutorial, I've been wondering about the differences between them and this has really helped...
Have a wonderfully creative week ahead...
Take care and stay safe my lovely...
💫😷🎨🤗🎨😷💫
Glad it was helpful!
You too, my friend!
Hugs,
Rebecca
If you can get your hands on them, I can almost guarantee that you will love them! My go-to ink for sure! :)
Great video!
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much for these clear explanations. I'd given up trying to use Kraft card to stamp on because of how muddied the colours were . Now I've got to go and get out some oxide inks and try it - right now! Tfs x
Yesss! The oxides are such a game changer for that technique!
I’m just learning how to use them. Thanks!
Yay! I hope you love them!
Brilliant! Thank you x
Thanks for watching!💕
I learned a lot!! Thank you
Wonderful video, so informative. I do have all of the Oxides, but even still you reminded me of things I haven’t done with them, like the water coloring. Thank you for taking the time to put together such a great comparison. 🙂
Thank you so much for saying so! Glad to hear there's another Oxide lover here! :)
Thank you for the video. I only just ordered my first Distress Oxides. Looking forward to try them
Yay! I hope you love them!
This video is so helpful. New Subbie. Thanks for a great video.
So glad to hear you found it helpful! Thanks so much for stopping by, watching, subscribing and your kind words! So glad you are here!
Thank you. This was really informative video with great techniques❤❤❤
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words. :)
I actually bought refills for my mini Distress Ink Cubes -- the ones that I like a lot and use up quickly. That tends to be the light colors like Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass. Distress Oxides only come in the one size, but if there are a couple of colors you like to use a lot I would recommend grabbing those refills too!
You are so right! I do need to get more refills. I didn’t realize they only came in the larger size. Have a great holiday weekend
@@katzbaugh9806 You too!! :)
I love so much the colors you work with ❤️
Thank you so much! I definitely tend towards bright colors! :)
What a great video explaining and showing the difference between the two! Thank you so much for sharing.
I am so glad it was helpful! :) Thanks for watching!
I used it in this video: th-cam.com/video/3A9wadsbjMc/w-d-xo.html
Good to know the mini's will be coming eventually! I wasn't sure if they just weren't producing them at all anymore! Thanks for the info!
I'm just starting to use the Distress Oxide Inks.
They are my go-to inks and I use them all the time! Have fun!
