We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
UPDATE 7/30/2019: Had to have TH-cam mute the song that was playing from the speaker in the water because they tried to copyright claim my video.

Nice review.. Brought 1 for work / outside warehousing - it is pretty damn sick - Nice and loud and bumps as well - love the battery which last longer than my smaller speakers , which was the main thing i was looking for .
I've got the JBL Extreme, and I love it! This thing must be a beast!
I love the camera work and the beach and water background... really makes this review stand out and nice demo of the water-proofing capabilities

I have 3 Harman Kardon onyx4's and i connect them all together using the app and they blow out any of my competitors speakers.

It is an incredible Bluetooth speaker with loud sound and bass. Given the fact the built in amp delivers only 80 watts in total when plugged in the outlet and 40 watt in battery mode, I wonder what it sound like in my home. The passive radiators are impressive, with lot's of excursion. Great video!
I have the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio (similar speaker but it’s not waterproof) and I love it. 60 Watts when plugged in and it sounds very clean and crisp, with pretty deep bass. Dual passive radiators and made by the same company. But I would def choose the boom box over it.

I work for JBL Harman. I love your review ❤ All are accurate and you hit the key points to be highlighted very well. I Like that you discussed the indoor and outdoor mode. A lot of customers calls in about this. Personally for me...The best affordable portable speaker is the JBL Charge 3. It has connect plus, it's a powerbank. much more bassier than the Xtreme

Ive had a charge 3 for almost 2 years and i love it, can confirm that it does connect to other jbl speakers.

Just bought this baby and it blew me away. Loud, clear, robust and awesome for a party. Compared it in a store to the Partybox encore essential, HK Onyx 7, HK play-and-go and was by far the best. Worth every hard earned penny

Funny it sounds great in many videos and some comparison videos try to toast it, but the "bass" clarity and punch is definitely winning. AIWA and HK are more volume in the Treble/Mids with pretty awesome Bass too, but the JBL is Bass BOSS.

Justin Pullin not headsets but these 1More Triple Driver over the ear headphones I've been using are insanely good.

Audio Freak because everyone tests the boombox with bass-heavy songs like Hip Hop and Trap. Heavy Metal isn’t that bass heavy and that‘s why no one test‘s it with it.

I have a Jbl charge 3 , I have had mine for five years and I love it, I took it to my aunts house and she said it was loud and it sounded nice.
Good video. At $450.00 ouch. I got the Sony xb90 on sale , but retails the same and it's twice the size, but just not as portable or water resistant. Putting one against the other would be a great comparison video. Keep it up glad to see the channel growing.

The bass on the JBL goes deaper, as he said in the video, nothing is really as portable as the Boombox but still as loud\quality sound. I agree. I'll review it soon. Detailed/thorough review.
The Sony line sounds crap after the XB40/41. The ‘portable megasound’ range just sound absolutely terrible even with an EQ.
Simon Haley yeah, that's why they are such cheaper. I don't think they are even as high fidelity as the JBL boombox, from there it's a new low for Sony.
I'd like to see a giant version of the xb41, with the same water proofing, for about 400.

3:10 according to my experience. The "radiotors" are not subwoofers they're just hermetic covers that move because of the actual speakers in the middle. They don't actually produce sound... Look for a video "what's inside" of a Boombox or any other JBL speaker video. And see it yourselves. ;)

Yes they do. Passive just means they aren't powered directly by the electronics. They are powered by changing pressure inside the box that would normally just be sound lost as compressed air. As they move becaiuse of the changing pressure they create sound waves outside the box that would otherwise be lost.
The passive radiators increase the frequency response from the bass
ElectronicRedPanda you don't hear much of the bass inside the box if its sealed. If you want to argue ported boxes vs the passive device on the side of the boom box then maybe we could talk about efficiency or something but I think you are misunderstanding what I meant. I meant I vs a sealed box. How else would there be a pressure build up that is lost?
Also if you know anything about phases and wave cancelation you would know why I DON'T think that a free air subwoofer would be louder.
The devices on the side act as a sort of half port half sealed box hybrid that allows for that deep sound you get from ported bass while allowing the box to be waterproof. This is also used in bose portable speakers because it gives a good balance between a ported box and a sealed box but allows the woofer to cover more midrange than a fully ported box. Basically you are giving the speaker more surface area to work with and with a particular weight in place it will only couple with the air on lower frequencies when you need the boost. Also being able to point more surface area on a subwoofer in a different direction can help solve the phase cancelations you get when you have a subwoofer just open to the air and it cancels it's own sound pressure waves.
I heard this thing In person and dang the bass was so awesome and loud I love bass I got the charge 4 for my room and I love bass it hasn’t arrived But I have heard it in person and even the charge 4 puts out a good amount of bass an I listen too rap

Good Bluetooth speaker. We use them for slow pitch softball games/tailgating and when we link 2 speakers we always get told to turn the music down. Worth the money if you'll use them. I might put this in an old beater pick up instead of doing the radio install thing as well. Good video and too bad TH-cam edits the music out now.

Someone that listens to metal and reviews Bluetooth speakers is a novelty. I have a Charge 3, and all I play is metal through it
I have the smallest tiny one and it has more bass then my car stereo... Only thing that is lacking is the deeper bass sounds under 60hz (plays ok down to about 70hz then it drops of fast). Now I am hooked and want this large one ;)
I have that same speaker and I'll put it in my pool to I've actually dropped it in the pool a few times

I have been wanting to get the altec lansing xpedition 8 since it came out. Finally saved up to buy one but its impossible to find during covid. Luckily the JBL Boombox was available and on sale currently. I will admit is still would like the xpedition 8 but I'm excited to see how well the Boombox works when it gets here on Monday.

Just got my boombox about a week ago. Found an insane application for this speaker. I immediately paired it with my 3 JBL Extreme 2's. Incredible sound. Then I discovered my Samsung Galaxy Tab 5se can stream to two audio sources simultaneously. So I also sent sound to my 2 Aiwa Exos 9's. Mind blowing sound.
