How to the Intelligent Flight Modes perform on the Phantom 4 Pro? For the most part, very well. I did have active track lose my subject once, but other than that was flawless. Tripod mode is my favorite by far, as it produces some very smooth shots as it limits the control input on the Phantom 4 Pro. What is your favorite Intelligent Flight Mode?

Not exclusive to the P4 Pro and Mavic Pro anymore, Phantom 4 got four new intelligent flight modes this week with the new firmware upgrade, they added Gesture mode, Tripod mode, Terrain follow mode and something else i cant remember.
Oh yeah, Draw mode was the other one we got

I've just brought a P4 pro but haven't had many chances to get out with it yet. The weather in Scotland isn't always drone friendly but it's an amazingly gorgeous place.. I was wondering in tripod mode when the speed is limited does it also limit the speed which the drone pans to keep that smooth as well?

Gian4193 I haven't noticed a difference in sharpness between the different aperture settings on the P4P, I use the aperture control (along with the Polar Pro ND filters) to get a properly exposed image.

Thumbs up! I have been a little afraid to try the active track because I'm worried about hitting stuff, especially trees. Any tips you could share with me?
+Nowegian Outdoors Start in beginner mode (which limits the maximum distance the drone can fly away from you) and in a wide open area until you get a feel for the controls.
These new drones are full of technology but also very approachable for a beginner.

where was this shot? such a peculiar flat Mesa with a steep dropoff. great for demonstrating the p4p features. if you filmed this recently I'm jealous of the weather. sub 10F in CT right now, much warmer tomorrow though.

I love the Tripod Mode as well. My second is Active Track. :)
Now, how do you get the bird to move and follow the subject? Mines only spins to the direction I am moving to, but just hovers. It doesn't fly to walk with me.
+Kenneth Tapia Once the active track locates the subject, hit "GO" on the screen and the drone should keep the subject in the field of view.
seems to be a contrast issue with tracking a subject - and possibly issues with gestures etc... one prosumer cameras fixed by adding phase and contrast to work together - did you guys try flying ahead and looking back at a subject in tracking - does that even work? ty for sharing !!!
+simon gentry It will fly backwards while tracking the subject, you just need to enable backwards flying in the settings menu.

I'm still debating if I should get the P4P now or wait two more months and see if they are going to release a Mavic pro 2 or Phantom 5 before summer...
About your question, I really like that tripod mode, but since I'm used to fly my old Phantom 2 not vision, I have already learned how to do all those shots literally manually... There's no assist on the old drones but the flight stabilization and positioning lock through satellites... So if I get one of this new Phantoms, I might continue to fly it manually and maybe try one or two of those new autonomous flight modes eventually. With all those new autonomous flight modes the new pilots doesn't learn anything about how to fly the machine because the computer do the hard part for them... Most of the new pilots doesn't even know what a "Vortex Ring State" is, nor how to get out of one of it ever happens to them... See my point...

How far away can the gesture mode work? Does it work 50m away or that would be too far?
+Drone Zurich I haven't tested the range on the gesture mode, but I would imagine the closer the better.
