Great video. One thing about frame rate though. It's better to know what frame rate you want to use before shooting. You say if you shoot at 60 fps and can always go back to 30 fps. I agree with you there but your quality with be less than shooting 30 fps in the first place. The reason being the Phantom 4 Pro shoots a 100 Mbps. If you shoot at 60 then downgrade it to 30 you're getting 1.66 Mbps per frame. If you shot at 30 initially you get better quality at 3.33 Mbps per frame
The quality at 30 is double than this at 60 because you get half the compression and if you go for 24 fps it is even better but you have to be in tripod mode for better results
Billy. Your presentations are clear, concise and don't ramble. I hate videos filled with, like, humm, ahh and you know! Thank you for the obvious dedication and hard work!
Thank you all the way from Down Under! Fantastic video, concise and easy to understand. I'm an amateur Phantom pilot and recently upgraded to a P4P+ from a Vision+ and still amazed by the professional quality of the video this thing is capable of. Without tutorials such as yours, I simply would not have been able to get the most out of my P4P+ knowing nothing about the camera side of things. I don't edit my videos or anything, just keep them to watch on my HD TV, so I'm looking forward to seeing the difference when using your suggested settings. Once again a big thank you for taking the time to make these videos and for sharing your knowledge with the hobbyists such as myself. Peace!
Video size i have 4096x2160 60fps but when i go to record videos and check album then go to the video i recorded info and i see the size at 1334x720p like what am im doing wrong
I would leave 4k alone unless you have the computing capability when processing. I tried 4k at first ,and even with a core I7 computer it took way to long to edit and process. I only shoot in 1080P and normally choose 60fps. I am in no way a pro at this and Billy has been flying way longer than I have, yet 1080P is the only way to go for me. Kudos Billy, always great to go back and see what you have put up on here.
So what are folks using to edit 4k without having to go through a crazy long editing process by creating proxies in Premiere Pro, or is that a necessary time-consuming evil for now. My shooting will be for real estate virtual tours, so I would imagine that 1080p would suffice for online viewing? All thoughts welcomed. Great video Billy. Thanks!
Great video explaining the camera settings! I've been testing various settings lately. I need advise on which ND filters I should purchase. I film mostly in bright sunny areas, I live in the California desert, what would you recommend? Thank you!
Thanks for video.Straight forward to the point.I hate it when people put a lot useless info. When Im trying to research stuff I need info not entertainment.
Hi BK very good tutorial, I set up my F4P same way and I can't make a recording more than 2 minutes. I believe it's the transmission the problem, but not sure I'm a beginner. Do you have a material on that topic? I have a Samsung tab A. Great job on the video ciao.
Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I just received my P4P on Wednesday and find myself settling on pretty much the same that you have shown here. Happy New Year and safe flights.......
Thank you for the detailed explanation and the video. Very easy to understand. One question. In order to zoom in and out freely without moving the phantom4 pro in the air, do I have to select Manual? Are there any ways to do the same when the setting is Auto? Thank you.
I totally understand you recommending ND filters. Yesterday I was flying my phantom 4 pro at 4K 60 frames per second and ISO at 100 with the shutter speed at 120 and I know the aperture sweet spot is around 5 to 8 but it was so bright I had to set it at 11 and still was a little bit over exposed. If I had a ND filter of let's say ND 8 it would've been perfect and I could've kept the aperture at a lower level. I'm wondering if you agree with my assessment as I'm still learning.
What are your thoughts on prop guards? The new ones for the P4P are not supposed to interfere with the front vision system. Just was curious as to your thoughts? BTW.....HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!
Hi Billy! In "Style Camera".... what values of sharpness, contrast and saturation do you recommend for the PH4 with polarized filters (4, 8 and 16 CPL)? Thanks.
Great video Billy, thanks! Question: can you tell me the difference in using an iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro for the screen? I need to purchase one and was wondering if the iPad Pro was worth the extra $200 when using it for the P4P screen? OR should I just wait on the CrystalSky and use my iPhone 7
+nashvillecsx The iPad Pro actually won't fit inside the tablet holder. You will need to purchase a third party extender. Also, the iPad Air will be easier to carry around with you
Great tutorial. I just got my drone, so I'm sticking with auto everything for the time being until I get more familiar with what that creates and then tweak it from that point. Thanks for the info.
Love the channel! Have any thoughts on oversaturated and underexposed raw stills from P4P? Came horrible straight out of camera, not usable for post processing? Thank you, Rok
I am trying too figure out a way to easily switch from video mode to photo mode. I know that it's as easy as hitting that one button but that isn't what i am talking about. I want to be able to have settings that are dedicated to shooting video and i want settings that are dedicated for shooting photos. I don't want to constantly have to switch all my settings around just to take one shot, then have to go back into video mode and switch back to all of my video settings i like to use. there has to be an easy way to do this that i am unaware of. Ideally, id like to have the C1 and C2 buttons on the back of the controller do this, but it doesn't have an option to do what i want those buttons to do. any suggestions? thanks!
Thank you !!!!!! Just got my P4P 2 days ago and the .mov format is a pain to work with. Not to mention their (DJI's) tutorials don't really dive this deep into the camera settings. Thanks to your video I'm now recording in .MP4 4K/60.
little surprised you choose "none"... maybe a more in depth video of those options.. thought you might go with Cinelike. but I am enjoying your reviews.
+Sergio Cabrera The wheels on the control are dedicated buttons. One for gimbal tilt the other for shutter. Unfortunately they can't be programmed like the C1 and C2 buttons
Thanks for the video. Have to disagree on the frame rate statement about always shooting at a higher frame rate, though. Not only does a higher frame rate allocate less data / picture information for each frame, but the P4P achieves it's higher frame rates by scanning a smaller portion of the image sensor at a lower resolution and then up-rezing to fill the image raster at your selected information. You are not getting true 4k when recording at 60fps. The same holds true from recording 120fps at 1080p... DJI won't say what the actual resolution is, but it looks to be closer to 720p or less.
I tend to shoot video at 1080p x 50 fps. The first video edit result was not good, simply because the rendering process, once edited, reverted back to 25fps. It's important to set the render to the same frame rate as the one you were shooting in. The final result was absolutely stunning. th-cam.com/video/_Iauf30g-vs/w-d-xo.html How that works when converting to DVD, I'm not sure, as I don't do DVD's currently.
Good video but worth noting that .MP4 and .MOV codecs really have nothing to do with what operating system you use. While it's true that the MOV codec was created by Apple, I use Avid Media Composer on Windows, and the native codec it uses is .MOV. The codec you choose really depends on your editing platform rather than your operating system.
Can you make a video on how to keep the remote's battery healthy. Everybody talks about how to keep the flight batteries in optimal conditions specially for storage, but haven't found anything talking about the radio's battery. We can program the intelligent battery to auto discharge, but what about the one in the radio? ... That could be a good tutorial for us... Hope you can find the answer to that inquiry... I know this video isn't about that subject, but was the 1st one of yours that I found ,so I decided to ask you through this one...lol... 👍👍👍
I believe the storage mode mainly equates to LiPo batteries as they can be volatile if mistreated. Most other batteries don't have that issue. Im not actually sure what batteries the controller has but I've not read or heard anything from anyone to say you have to put the controller into storage % so I would say it isn't a problem.
Thanks Billy , great video, superb 👍🏻. Could you help with this question please ? - I've just bought the fat shark hd3 goggles I actually thought it may just require a lead. Do I need to changeout the module to a HDMI one (can I do this? With p4p) on the bottom of controller? I think it's quite shocking from DJI to have not added this module in the first place to be honest .
Great video and info. Does the p4p have an option to zoom in and out on stills and video in any format? Or can this only be done in after shot editing. Thanks
Hi, i have updated my firmware of my phantom 4 PRO plus but after updating I only have single mode in the camera shooting. I don't have hdr, AEB burst, and interval mode anymore. How can I get it back?
Bro , I have question regarding my phantom pro plus photo result. Lately when I take photo from my drone somehow the photos was available in the album. It seems that my drone cannot read the photo result, however the issue does not exist when I take video. Any advice? Appreciate your help
Billy Kyle yeah I been thinking of maybe keeping my 70d and buying g7 maybe even G85, instead of selling 70d to get a6500. So many choices lol. What did you use before G7?
great video man but i have a problem whenever i start a video it stops the video without my command after 30 or 40 seconds even though i have empty storage in the sd
Regarding post production, most everything I read relates to Adobe Photoshop. Doesn't anybody use software other than Photoshop for post production and editing??? I am sure there are other programs out there that work just as good. Any suggestions for an alternative program with maybe a youtube training video to help us who do not want to learn a more complicated program such as Photoshop.
what settings should i correct when the image is blurred when the drone is turning left or right or when the drone ph4 pro starts to move in any direction
Great videos, Billy. When I shoot video in 4K or 1080p at 60fps I get banding and frames jumping back and forth. I am using h264. The same thing shows on my monitor when viewing the video on my computer. The videos are great when shootong at 30fps. Any suggestions?
You're not doing anything wrong, this is an issue (pronounced 'feature') with the P4P. For higher frame rates, you're 1) shoving twice the number of frames into the stream with the same bitrate, so each frame gets less data and 2) higher frame rates, don't scan the entire sensor, so you're getting a lower resolution image that is being scaled up to fill your selected video size. You see the same phenomenon in other smaller / cheaper camera systems. The sensor and image processors can't handle the data rate and heat produced by scanning full resolution at 60 or 120 fps, so they alternate pixels, giving you fewer active pixels for the image processors to handle and allows for better chip cooling. The result is aliasing / banding artifacts in the high speed stuff.
I know this might sound weird but for some reason my ISO is locked to 500 and I can't change it!! I am sure that I am in manual mode and whatever I do i can't change that 500 ISO... That problem is new after I installed the latest update for the P4P plus.
to shoot at 2.7k..25fps without editing the video on computer, these settings will be good? ISO :100 SHUTER SPEED :1/100 APERTURE: maximum 5. (i use ND filters to keep EV closer to zero) contrast: -2 sharpness: -2 color: 0 what is your opinion ?
Great Tutorial for newcomers. Now if you could drink a little less coffee perhaps the speed of speech could slow down so we would not need to rewind the video as often ;)
It really doesn't matter much. If you are creating videos 25 fps use PAL, if your prefer 24fps-30fps then use NTSC. PAL and NTSC is a old TV standard that does not affect you if your videos are not broadcasted by a tv channel.
Great tutorial! Just one thing... try to speak a lit of bit slower for people like me, not from native english speaking countries. I have subscribed to your channel.
Nice video I just found. Since it's 6 years out, do you have any different recommendations from then? Thanks. Filming tomorrow fyi

+slbynum Totally agree. Definitely would recommend picking one up.
What's the difference between cinematic and ultraHD 4K? Great video btw.
C4K is a bit wider in terms of pixels.
What are your thoughts on prop guards? The new ones for the P4P are not supposed to interfere with the front vision system. Just was curious as to your thoughts? BTW.....HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!
+R M Happy New Year Man! Honestly I'm not a huge fan of prop guards, don't really see the point in getting them
Really helpful video Billy! Keep up the great work!!
+Zain Raza Thanks Zain!
Hey Billy Kyle, what would be a good setting to film fireworks using the P4P and which filter (Sandmarc) should I use If necessary?

Thanks for the video! one question (off topic), which backpack do you suggest using for p4p for moving or traveling?
+Sotiris Rezitis The Polar Pro drone Trekker. I did a review a few days ago!
Another excellent video, chock full of information. Thanks!
+Dave Bellware You're welcome Dave!
The wrong information.
Do you have a link to your video with the correct information? What part of it was wrong? Inquiring minds want to know.
little surprised you choose "none"...
maybe a more in depth video of those options.. thought you might go with Cinelike.
but I am enjoying your reviews.
+Emil Caruso Thanks Emil! With D Cinelike I feel as though the picture is hazy and lacking color, that is just my opinion.
Nice one Billy. Thanks
Great video, Thankyou very much.
super helpful man
+Daniel Kemeys 👍🏼
Does the Phantom 4 Pro have a 'burst' mode when shooting stills to capture several shots in succession?
Excellent nononse
Good video bro. I have a question, Is it possible to adjust the aperture from the scrolls on the controller, I don't know how to program that.

+Bluenose81 Huskys I think you do need to buy the other module, although I'm not exactly certain as I haven't dealt with any goggles
carl pomeroy ok thanks will look into that mate.
Billy Kyle . Ok thanks
Good job man :)
Great explanation
which ND filters did you order for the P4P, and which brand would you recommend? thanks
+Roger Neeb I got the DJI ND8 filter. PolarPro is another good company
+Billy Kyle what is your reasoning behind nd8 vs other options?
+darpsamoa I feel like it's not too dark yet not too light to the point where it isn't doing anything
Great video and info. Does the p4p have an option to zoom in and out on stills and video in any format? Or can this only be done in after shot editing. Thanks
+Ed Lazarski You're gonna have to do that in post (editing) but it should be fairly simple
Just curious as to what post editing software you like.
+Ed Lazarski Final Cut Pro for Mac
Thanks, I have been messing around with premier pro and Davinci Resolve
BK, have you or do you use Audio blocks for background music, if not what do you use. Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it.

Pal does not offer 60fps do you know what settings I should use if I want to record 4k?
Nice I see you're growing by leaps and bounds. How is the G7 working out?
+PreacherSki LOVE it. You really can't beat the quality you get for the price!

+PreacherSki Right😂😂
great video man but i have a problem whenever i start a video it stops the video without my command after 30 or 40 seconds even though i have empty storage in the sd

what settings should i correct when the image is blurred when the drone is turning left or right or when the drone ph4 pro starts to move in any direction
PIERRE AURET Check that your shutter speed is double your frame rate.
As a former professional photographer in the film days and having gone digital in 2003, I've never found a histogram to serve a useful purpose.
Great videos, Billy. When I shoot video in 4K or 1080p at 60fps I get banding and frames jumping back and forth. I am using h264. The same thing shows on my monitor when viewing the video on my computer. The videos are great when shootong at 30fps. Any suggestions?
+John Stephens Sounds like the card you are using is not fast enough
Thanks for the quick reply, Billy. I upgraded to a 64gb SanDisk Extreme Pro v30 3. Still have the same issue. What is your card recommendation?
The result is aliasing / banding artifacts in the high speed stuff.
good job bill

Do you actually live near Philly?
I know this might sound weird but for some reason my ISO is locked to 500 and I can't change it!! I am sure that I am in manual mode and whatever I do i can't change that 500 ISO... That problem is new after I installed the latest update for the P4P plus.
Jad Mcdad thats only in dlog.dji made it so
I want to operate how to zoom in out and camera settings for lightning and colour adjustment dji drone phantom 4
to shoot at 2.7k..25fps
without editing the video on computer,
these settings will be good?
ISO :100 SHUTER SPEED :1/100
APERTURE: maximum 5. (i use ND filters to keep EV closer to zero)
contrast: -2 sharpness: -2 color: 0
what is your opinion ?
Camera settings don’t relate to the ability to edit footage on your computer. They deal with what the lighting is like outside
can i change ghz 240 to 580 and visa versa in mid flight
Great Tutorial for newcomers.

Why my pHantom 4 pro plus doesn't have the Manual Focus in Video? Someone have the same problem?
dude i live in asia specifically laos what do i need to use NTSC or PAL?
It really doesn't matter much. If you are creating videos 25 fps use PAL, if your prefer 24fps-30fps then use NTSC. PAL and NTSC is a old TV standard that does not affect you if your videos are not broadcasted by a tv channel.
Billy, how do you record your screen with the app OSD? My P4P is a plus model, so I probably need an android app..
"This will bring us into the video mood"? xD
