If you want to pull the old bushing out, use a 7/16" or M12 tap and thread the tap into the bushing using a tap wrench. Keep turning until the bushing walks up the tap and it comes right out. If the tap is still tight, just keep turning.
BTW, the first bolt they loosen is a 17mm, the one with the wires is a 13mm and the bottom and last bolt is a 15mm. And yes you need an open ended wrench for it. The other two are easier with a box wrench. Or a ratcheting box ended wrench. Take photos of everything before removing it. Also if you need more room to get at the 17mm, remove the air cleaner and the next bit of hose.

That 17mm may be easy to remove without the airbox being removed but putting it back on you will need the room so yes, air box and intake boot needs to be removed.@@slaughterhousecustoms

Do you have to remove the old bushing if the starter is self supporting? Cheers

@@larsjeffries1788No. But if I ever decide to put the stock Bosch starter back, I will have forgotten that there is an old bushing in there. So that's why I removed it.

Hi guys is this starter motor compatible with Subaru conversions? I have an EJ25 with original T25 auto box.
