Michelin Anakee Adventure Tire Review | Best 80/20 ADV Tire?

  • Michelin Anakee Adventure Tire Review. What is the best 80/20 tire for adventure bikes? Well, it could be the Michelin Anakee Adventure. Michelin mixes a lot of technology with some common sense and comes up with one of the best adventure tires I've ever ridden gravel and tarmac. Yes I pushed this tire a little bit harder off-road as on-road performance is usually good with the 80/20 segment. That holds true and even a little extra for the Anakee. here's a link to the review I wrote for RevZilla for this one. www.revzilla.c... You can also find links to all the gear I was wearing and sizing options in this link. No one pays me to wear my REV'IT! gear, my Shoei helmet, or test these tires in a positive light. It's all real talk around here. #anakeeadventure

To anybody coming into the video late; a quick review of mine on a super tenere 1200 after 2k miles.
    The smooth surfaces -
    1) Amazing road grip.
    2) Amazing on hard dual track roads. Basically, if a car can drive on it, this tire performs very well
    3) Really great performance on grass and hard clay
    The rough surfaces -
    1) If you're doing sand deeper than 2 inches and not compact (sugar sand, etc.) you HAVE to air these down to ~20-25 PSI. If you don't, it'll take a lot of skill to keep that bike up. The front will have no grip, so don't think about turning. Keep the weight back, and if the sand is truly soft you're just going to sink right in and push the front.
    2) No traction in the mud whatsoever. If you give it gas the front/rear will slide sideways.
    3) Wet grass is not good. So if you're jumping through puddles, stay easy on the gas because it will slip as there's nothing to bite down.
    4) If you're on damp/wet dirt and that rear gets caked up the tire is effectively a slick and you cannot just gas it to clean it. You have to ride over dry/rough stuff.
    TLDR:
Amazing 80/20 tire. If you avoid sugar sand and mud, it's the best thing ever.

I got about 7K out of two sets of the Metzler's riding dirt gravel and broken tar back country roads ... Looking forward to a season on these tires and we will see how many miles I get from them ...
