I've repaired 14 3000GT/Stealth engine ECUs. The capacitors fail due to age and usage, and need replacing on just the age parameter alone. I can tell those are still factory original capacitors and need replacing. If you look carefully at capacitor C104 (the 100uf capacitor), it leaked to the nearby daughter board that's standing up right, it almost looked like a small rust blob. I hope you cleaned that corrosion up before eats away the copper trace. Also even if there was zero evidence of leakage, the capacitors can still fail internally. I've repaired two units that had zero evidence but performed perfectly afterwards.

Currently stuck in a limp mode with ecl code 53. Hoping this is the end of it and i dont have to dig deeper. My symptoms are limp mode (was in third gear, somehow now in 4th gear), low idle below 500 rpm and car shuts off once its warm.

Fingers crossed on this project. I had simmilar ECU on a '95 Mitsubishi Colt, seems no need in fixing it, the capacitors look OK, You might change them just in case. What about the oil burning? Do You think its the piston rings? Hope not... You've got my sub.

Hey jursaw i just purchased a vr4 kinda of a dream car for me and im having hesitation issues only when the the car isnt in boost other then that the car is normal i took out the ecu but my capacitors look different then yours idk if it was done before should i purchase a new ecu ?
you should check out www.3si.org great bunch of folks. 3000gt and stealth enthusiasts. doubt it's valve seals, those tend to smoke the worst right at cold start or when sitting at a long light. best of luck to you.

Mine was chewed but it was only part of the fuel pump (that i know of), but it gets fuel and air just no spark and I think its the ecu, so im going to send it in to 3sx and get it rebuilt
I know its an older vid the price you got that car for was a steal if that make you feel better. Lol I gave double the price for a straight up 50 % stripp down parts car . Due you still have it ?Have a bunch of parts in boxes because of city ordinance I had to strip it down and junk the car

Thanks for the sub! I changed the capacitors and I will have a new video up soon and I think the oil burning is the valve stem seals

It could be many things but you can start off by inspecting the ECU. Look for any signs of leakage or burned chips or anything that looks burned.

the pump is in low duty when out of boost and high duty in boost. what your feeling is probably the hesitation caused by it switching to full power
turbo shaft play has nothing to do with turbo seals and gaskets..plus the plugs and coolant lines

and it's not valve seals..it's burning blue smoke.because the turbo are going out and alot more..
Grip Phillips The front turbo's turbine shaft doesnt have any up or down movement but I haven't checked the rear turbo yet.
