    Awesome video 👍 I think I’ll get my son to solder the capacitors. He’s an electrician in the Navy 🔌💡

    Someone replaced two capacitors in my vehicles computer. They never checked polarity on one of them and it had blown out. I noticed a rattle in my computer when I removed it. As I knew that ment something was loose and could cause a grounding issue if I put it back that way, I opened the unit, noticing it had been pried open and revealed. It had a warrenty void sticker on it that was made of paper and didn't appear to be factory( it wasn't ). Whomever repaired this unit wasn't qualified to open a can of beans. A simple check of the ground confirmed the blown capacitor was wrong. It had blown the aluminum cap off but left the plastic wrapper on. That gave me a clue as the negative was wired to what appeared to be the wrong pad. They had replaced two capacitors. The other one was not in the same position, so they shouldn't have followed that one's position relative to the board. Reguardless, I fixed it and it appears to be fully functioning.

    Hi there. I'm from Malaysia and I drive a 2010 Kia Forte 1.6. My car is stuck in 3rd gear and it bangs into reverse.
    A local workshop concluded that the ECU is at fault. I couriered the ECU to a specialist and they called me to say that the capacitors were leaking and they had replaced it. When I received and reinstalled the ECU I was frustrated that the problems were still there and 2 additional problems cropped up : No AC and the traction control off light was on! What could be the problem?

      @Goldenfab  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Earl, I'm not an expert on that car and can't think not what the problem would be. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Best if luck to you getting it fixed.

    The life expectancy of these electrolytic capacitors vary. These are the first thing that goes bad. I have a 1950's electrolytic capacity checker which puts actual electrical load on these capacitors. I have found many out of tolerance & leaky capacitors because wear and tear and age. Repairing these capacitors will mostly likely bring the computer back to life.

    . hello, I have such a question, I have a 1995 Mitsubishi, it starts up, but it feels like it smells of gasoline from the exhaust pipe and the engine does not work, but after 10 minutes of work, it stops working , I take off the spark plugs and they are all in gasoline.after 5 minutes it starts up again and again after 5 minutes it stops itself. it could be ECU ?

    • @Goldenfab
      @Goldenfab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like it could be. Could also be a sensor or wiring. Could be engine heat or electric current in a wire or device heating up and then creating a short or discontinuity condition.

      No, in my case when I got the car it was not in running condition and I could not get it to start.

    I need help and was hoping you can lead me in the right direction. I have a 97 gst and there are 2 white ecu wires that have these exposed wires coming out of a green sheath that covers the 2 white wires. There are also 2 black wires with a white stripe that are not connected to anything. It's a mess and the schematic is not showing these wires or where they go. The car runs very rich as well. Even a picture or video of the wires would help me rewire this.

    • @Goldenfab
      @Goldenfab  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to say I'm not sure what those wires are off the top of my head. I checked my harness and have the same thing. I would have to look up the schematics. There is a website I remember I found that had a lot of good info on DSM wiring. I think it is references somewhere on like a main FAQ page or something of dsmtuners.com or dsmtalk.com there are a lot of good threads on wiring schematics on those forums as well www.dsmtuners.com/threads/the-1990-engine-control-wiring-harness.412841/
      Search for an ECU pin out for your car and it should tell you what you need to know. Best of luck!

    Dude I tried replacing the capacitors and now the car runs worse. It won’t go past 2.5k rpm and pops when being revved. Any way I can reset it? I have replaced caps with same capacitor ratings. I am also using a new ecu and I want to save this old ecu

    • @Goldenfab
      @Goldenfab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I don't know what it could be. All I can say is make sure you installed the caps in the correct polarity and make sure the board is clean.

    Hi, I sent my ECU for repair as the transmission was stuck in 3rd (limp mode) due to capacitor leakage. However, when I received the ECU, the transmission was still stuck in 3rd. The ECU specialist told me to go to workshop to reset the DTC and that would solve the problem. Is this true? Thank you.

    • @Goldenfab

      I don't know but clearing codes is easy enough to do and usually auto parts stores like autozone will do it for you for free, else unplugging the battery will usually do it.

      muhammad imran If you shorted out a wire you probably blee a fuse. Check all your fuses. Sometimes there arr two groups of fuses, one inside the car and one under the hood.

    Hi! I'm having issues with all four injectors in my car, I've been told ist the ECU. What was the problem with your car?

    • @Goldenfab
      @Goldenfab  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't remember for sure all what was not working but I think pretty much nothing was working including the injectors or coils firing. I plugged in my scan tool and it was not talking to it and if I remember correctly the check engine light was not coming on. If your capacitors failed like mine your results may vary depending on what the capacitor has leaked on and shorted out. If you can access your ECU is is easy enough to unscrew the cover and check to see if there is something obviously wrong with it like a leaking capacitor like I had or something that burnt up. A lot of times whatever is wrong will be very obvious but other times not. Best of luck.
