Wow, that is some saving both on money and space. Excited to see how the corals respond to the new dosing programme. Love this channel. Thumbs up every time :)
Cheers Jay. Me too, I'm intrigued to see how the ICP results will compare at the end of the month. Consumption has increased even after making the video so it's a good sign I'm getting more growth
Nice update vid again Tris. Sometime in the near future, I have to move my tank. Its in a bedroom at the moment, has to go downstairs into the dinning room. I think it would be a great idea for you to come down. Manage the planning of it and also manage the move itself.
Brilliant, informative video mate, good to see the comparison between the 2 and glad to see you managed to get switched over easily! Looks like a great system!
If you are concerned with costs, have you considered mixing your own supplements? I am not scientifically minded, but followed a simple set of calculations, three ICP tests later everything remains consistently stable with all sps/lps/softies continuing to flourish. Anything shown low within the ICP which is not being replaced by regular water changes, I simply buy and manually dose that appropriate additive (iodine for example).
That's a little like what I used to do. When I first started the tank I used to dose everything manually. Trace elements individually every other day and the main 3 components daily. I never mastered the art of getting the ionic balance correct and the parameters were all over the shop. On paper I'm happy with the costs of Triton core 7 and if it keeps the tank as stable with trace elements as AF did I'll be a happy man
@@NanoTankReefer totally understand reasoning behind using a branded dosing additives, I did the same for many years. Now combining those quarterly ICP results (which will become half yearly then annually when totally happy with stability) with regular 15% water changes using a good quality salt alongside diligent weekly testing and adjusting the auto dosing as corals grow/mature and take up more of those three core elements, saves money long term and adds a little more hands on interest to the hobby. Unfortunately everything with 'marine' in the title, adds pounds to the product, when in reality, somethings don't need to be as my little experiment has proved. Care and attention to your tank promotes success, as your tanks show, but this hobby does not need to be so expensive. Keep doing what you are doing, I enjoy watching the channel, you have an envenous setup to be proud of.
I'm a big believer in supporting my LFS. Triton and RZ worked out to be the same cost. My LFS stock Triton so it's easy for me to pick up anything I need without having to pay or wait for the post
Thats interesting bud. I've gone the other way. I'm not surprised it cost that much using the component stuff. I use the AF powders and i worked it out and it was cheaper. 🤷♂️😬
I agree, mixing the components is much cheaper but I would still be stuck with refilling the containers weekly. It's just too weak for me to continue dosing AF
I was amazed when I worked out how much it was costing just for dosing the tank. I didn't give it a second thought before and just kept ordering more when I started to run out
Your chemical setup is like an IVF lab! Very very sophisticated....Your tank looks great.

Moving tanks is my biggest fear. So much so when I move out of the place I currently live in I'll shit the tank down and start again 🙈
Great job. Looking really tidy and the results speak for themselves
Cheers buddy 🙂

Really love how tidy your setup looks now!
Cheers bud, I'm liking the look myself. I'm maybe a little too OCD about how everything looks outside the tank but that's probably not a bad thing
I’m on triton, been on a new bare bottom, dry rock, negative space sps tank and so far so good.
I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of your tank. It sounds like something I have in the pipeline 🙂
@@NanoTankReefer I will post a video. Watch this space…
@@deanfielding44112024 , still waiting for that video.
Triton core 7 are the best , how do you like still today? Aquaforest cant be compared to the Triton, so big difference !

You know you can mix your own aquaforest solution's? Makes it considerably cheaper than buying the pre-mixed containers
It certainly does, but unfortunately it doesn't increase the concentration ☹️ that was 50% of the issue
Looking clean 👍🏻
Cheers dude
Is triton still running well to you?
I’m thinking of swapping from red sea abc to triton only reason is Iv got a 1200 litre system.
I've used the red sea foundation and coral colours before. It's good but I didn't like the fact I had to use 7 dosing heads
@@NanoTankReefer I’m sold next pay day will be a swapping over day
have u looked at reef z?
I sure did mate, same overall cost as Triton but my LFS doesn't stock it
@@NanoTankReefer nor does mine, but I order from kraken easy

@@bobbyknox9258 the sunset is slowly bouncing back. It still doesn't look great but it's a vast improvement to what it did look like going in
@@NanoTankReefer sweet. It'll make it now then won't it. 🤙
It looks promising dude
I wonder how many reefers look 👀 into just how much they could save, once they’ve done the maths. 🤔

"You had me at £8.10 per month"
It's not a small outlay buying it in bulk but 8 quid a month to dose a tank with this stock I'm over the moon with 🙌
Calcium reactor would have already paid for itself by the sounds of it if you go down that route
You're absolutely right. It'll be a calcium reactor on the next setup without doubt
