Well that answers the question about the driveshaft bending and I definitely see the servo not lasting with those hard chassis slaps. Great video Earl!

Currently wrenching on my crawler. I Always enjoy the bench sessions. I don't see myself picking up a 1/5 anytime soon. Aside from the BIG price tag it's Hard to find a place to keep those big monsters. Thanks E man keep up the good work
Mine lasted 3 packs of EASY driving. Actually went on the driveway. Now has Tekno pinion and HR spur. I expect no further issues unless something wedges into the gears while running. Also installed traxxas 7759 motor mount washers. Just keeping mine stock until the esc burns up and it will. Then it gets a Max6 and call it good. Dont go ultra crazy with our stuff.
Its a tough call Im guessing, they need that bottom piece to really brace the chassis and tie all the bulkheads and chassis together, you want it stiff but it means its brittle in that spot. Make it softer and it risks flexing too much.
I hand turn my screws back in and I back turn the screw until I feel the screw drop into the existing cut threads, then I turn it in by hand. That will greatly reduce your incidence of stripped threads.

I think it will be a common problem especially in cooler temps. Too much slap for a big jump basher but it looks like a phenomenal 1/5 track racer. I am not sure the wide kit is wise for bashing either. I am looking forward to seeing the creative Frankensteining this truggy gets from people. I would like to see the XRT with longer suspension travel, a chassis brace and bigger tires.
Keep a close eye on the battery connectors as well for pin fitment and proper solid connection. In other words, not just that plastic connector is pushed in, but that the copper is making good connection.
Yes anti spark needs to be pushed till there is no gap between the two or it could cause it to power up but not handle the load on these specific connector I installed 💯💯

A definite weakness in couple of spots on that cover, shame as looks good support around drive shaft area. Everything has it's limits tho. Suppose have to bash within them and remember it's not an xmaxx.

It has X-Maxx DNA & maybe it's got some thin plastic in spots 🤔 I just watched Heavy Metal RC & it could be maybe thin plastic in spots , maybe the injection molding machine had clogged jets during injection that wasn't caught until later 🤔
They are all likely to have issues. I’ve got an erevo 2.0 that until last week had never broken. And a Kraton EXB 6s that I love but it took over $200 aftermarket parts before it made it through 2 5000mah 4s packs. Around the yard. I have a couple small ramps but don’t ever “send it”. I drive more race style etc and rally style. RC has gotten about like politics with folks refusing to admit their “side” isn’t perfect 😂
Hell, I broke my XTR within 24 hours of getting it. Head on into a 3” pole. Broke my bell crank and been looking for an aluminum unit to replace the plastic one.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, damn tires are the dirtiest little secret in RC. It's weird how almost no other channel discussing how tires don't last when big power is applied. Hell tires don't last long on pavement running 3S models
Nah, my gears went out on mine third ride. Rode it pretty hard but still. I’ve had my X-Maxx over a year and my gears are still good. They share the same gears though so……🤷🏻♂️
I can smell an m2c brace/cower cooking :) If they would have gotten rid of the dumb servo and servo posittion it would solve all the issues. But traxxas... it seems they didnt like the durrability of the xmaxx so they engineered some weak spots in there;). That cower being the lowest point hanging from the rc it will catch/break a lot.
There are 70% parts like the Xmaxx so you’re really going to have 30% to buy that number isn’t the size of the parts but how many have to be changed really the xmaxx is better like it is 💯💯
It’s a dumb design from Traxxas to not have a slotted pinion gear to match with the motor shaft. Literally the only thing taking all the force is the set screw.
They do that on purpose. If you slot it, then it is very likely the breakage will happen further down. It a mathematical range. If you impact maybe 15% harder than that set screw can take then yes you will share the pinion screw off. Say that if that was slotted and the truck could take that same exact impact anywhere from between 20 and 30% more stress that would be great. But say at between 31% more stress in 100% you may snap a driveline or something such as that. Traxxas takes the easier fix and the cheaper fix way out. Which is good for us
Ye the xmaxx is the best and thats the reason they went ahead and attempted to copy it. Dont know why they didnt copy it properly though.. maybe to try and look original with their ideas..but the chassis on the xmaxx with that middle curve is practically perfect and i never broke anything when it comes to chassis
I'd buy an X-Maxx before this. Everyone has or is riding the XRT nuts. Is it cool, yes. Is it a big RC car, Yes, but it don't seem 1,000 Traxxas durable though. Yes the X-Maxx is taller, a different beast All together. This, IDK, just not feeling it for some reason.
To me it’s like a Kraton 8s vs outcast 8s xmaxx is the outcast 8s and XRT drives like a Kraton 8s just not a sound truck fun to rip around and it seems to be better then my Kraton 8s in durability but time will tell
people jump 1/8 scale. then they think anything bigger than it can jump the same… use some laws of physics. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 even 1 million dollar trophy trucks have their limits.

Yes it will but I use power tools design to stop at no more then 3 inch pounds of torque that’s the clicking you hear 👍👍💯💯

integrating metal braces into the plastic parts would be an idea but how abouts they would do that i dont know.

No that’s the gear adjustment for the mesh of the pinion and spur gears so the motor won’t move on impacts

They have different length screws. One side has a longer screw the other a shorter screw. Jeez well noted lol.
