A couple things... a 124gr 9mm going over 1200 fps??? That's insanely fast!! And a 230gr.45 going 780fps??? That's really slow...try closer to 1100fps for your standard124gr defensive load and 900-950 for a 230gr load. And watching gel bounce around is really misleading because with handgun bullets they don't go fast enough to do damage with the temporal cavity (what you are watching bounce around) it only really matters what the bullet hits directly. Also, energy transfer means almost nothing, take a 9mm round with about 300 ft lbs of energy and a bow and arrow with a max of 70 ft lbs... is anyone going to say that a 9mm round is more than 4 times as deadly as an arrow that can cut a 1"-1.25" hole in someone? Energy transfer means nothing, it only matters how the energy is used
Sigh... you 45 fanboys just wont wake up... 1200 fps is not hot for a 9mm FMJ, it's the standard, infact he was shooting the standard army 9mm 115 gr M882 cartridge which is listed at 1263 fps 15 ft from the muzzle of an M9.
@@bobbyraejohnson to clarify i didnt say, speed doesnt matter (because it does, just not at handgun velocities) i said "energy transfer means nothing" because it matters what that energy does. and i was arguing that they used a hot 9mm vs an underpowered .45.
@@bellator11 i just googled "m882 9mm ammo specifications" and you are correct but it also states that m882 is indeed a +P ammo so again, hot vs weak ammo comparison. and im not a 45 fanboy, real world shooting dont show any significant difference between any handgun calibers, handguns are handguns.
Sure this might be one particularly weak 45 load against a rather stout 9mm. But it's funny how everyone points out barrel length and how the test is biased when the 45 fails to pull ahead. In other comparisons everyone is quite content to see 45 +P from full sized 5" 1911 put against compact nines with ammo that barely scrapes the 300ftlbs mark. Why not point out that the reverse - while less likely - is also possible? Buddy of mine was absolutely sure that his 45 would wreck my toy gun until I fired some decently loaded 9mm out of my long slide PPQ. When he had wiped the watermelon remains from his face, he did not continue yapping about "twice as big" and "twice as heavy" any longer
My guess this is a comparison between service calibers and around 1200fps for 124 grain 9mm on par with that, though the .45 ACP is a bit on the weak side even if you were to increase the velocity to 850fps which would be closer to what is expected for issued .45 ACP it still falls short in muzzle energy to M882 9mm.
It's a +p or +p+ 9mm round, but an extremely weak 45acp round. 45acp fmj can reach 400 ftlbs without being a +p (www.ableammo.com/catalog/federal-american-eagle-pistol-ammunition-ae45a100-acp-full-metal-jacket-fmj-230-890-fps-100-rdbx-p-123920.html) this video was made out of biased. I swear it's hard to find a non-biased comparison.🙄
Considering no 230 grain .45 goes 700 fps, and no 124 grain 9mm goes over 1100 fps…..I’d say this test was probably done with hand loads that suck. 45 is around 900fps and 9mm goes around 1100fps.
Yeah... compair a VERY hot 9mm to a very low end .45 and call that a real test.. hmm. If you want to do a scientific test then buy one brand of simmilar ammo.. if you choose to use a 9mm 125 grain then compair it to a 200 grain .45 or 147 to 230 115 to 180 etc.. and use the same style bullet! Otherwise you are wasting EVERYONE'S TIME. thank you.
you are so dumb, you can buy a strong 9mm round but you can't waste your time to cast a better bullet and reload 45acp with more powder to prove that 45acp is more powerful than 9mm.The sad fact is 45acp is never strong as the 9mm.
Yeah, that's a super hot-loaded 9mm, and a very weak (if not the weakest) 45 acp round. It's easy to get 400 ftlbs with a non +p, fmj 45 acp (www.ableammo.com/catalog/federal-american-eagle-pistol-ammunition-ae45a100-acp-full-metal-jacket-fmj-230-890-fps-100-rdbx-p-123920.html) Go with a +p 45 acp and you can get closer to 500 ftlbs. In equal round types: The 45 ACP has the power, and the 9mm has the capacity. That's how it'll always be.
please use comparable ammo

8NightKillers they have 9mm ammo that's hitting 2000 fps

You just said it's not about speed at the end but said it's not fair because its going really fast.

Talk all the shit you want, but if the .45 wasn't worth its weight in gold, the U.S Army wouldnt have adopted it for 2 world wars..
They didn’t really use pistols in the ear it was for back up and rarely used so that argument is irrelevant

Plus, this is the 45 ball load as designed, and the 9mm seems to be NATO spec which is rated roughly 2400 PSI higher than 9x19 Parabellum.

.45 ball is typically 230 grain at 850 fps.
Wow! Any .45 fans would tell you that especially in FMJ, .45 is far superior to 9mm. Here the 9mm actually beats the .45.
FlyTour69 how because it happen to tumble
FlyTour69 no. It doesnt. This was a waste of time. Not a scientific comparison at all. A total wast of time.

poncoolride 9x19mm rounds was designed to replace 45acp how for it has the same effectiveness to 45acp.

It's NATO ball 9mm and ball .45 ACP.
You're comparing one of the weakest loads for a 45 ACP to one of the hottest 9mm loads. Hah hah.
.45 👍
They all fall to.....9mm😂
Use a +p 45 like the 9mm.
that wasnt +p
