So far it's been amazing for school. I'm a biology major and my notes from lecture includes a lot of handrawn figures or examples. The surface pro with one note is super helpful
@@paolay.hernandez5651 hello so I am two terms away from graduation and I have switched my major since the last post to political science. The surface i purchased jan 2018 (i5 pro) is still working and helpful even with school being done 100% online. The battery life is not as good as it was new but i use it alot. I would say I still get a soild 6 hours of use ( with out watching videos). Even new watching videos quickly killed the battery even in the battery saving mode. The only problem I have now is the magnetic keyboard/ cover sometimes doesn't connect correctly. Usually disconnecting it and reattaching it works. Highly recommend them
I have used this device for the past weeks and I love it. You are totally right with the statements about the device. The main reason I use this device is to be able to go to customers and have them sign on the spot for documents and annotate in a coffee shop making sure the proposals are send out on time. I use it as a companion to carry around. For heavier work I would recommend the Surface Book 2 - what I actually do with the SP5/SP6 is take a wireless display adapter with me and display right on the monitors or TV's at the customer. It makes live easier and as I always arrive on time for the meetings (lol). I can run my invoicing software and banking stuff all running from this. I am not a heavy user and that is why I chose this device. My other laptop is a Surface Book 2 and I actually bought both for a steal on the used market.
On my Surface Pro 2, I was able to run plenty of games at 60 fps. I didn't play many weighty games, but I played games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, Portal 2, Stanley Parable and even Minecraft all at 60 fps. If my surface from almost four years ago can handle gaming, then I'm sure this one can too. And I know this thing isn't a meant for gaming, but I'm just adding my experience and two cents.
You're right. It definitely is not incapable of gaming. I have the same model and for the average user everything is exceptional. The hardware is good, screen is brilliant, pen is a good accessory, kickstand adds superior versatility, and overall it's a fine machine. And he makes it seem as if the surface pro cannot handle multi-core processes. I found it to be sufficient enough for multi-tasking.
In 2020 it's worth buy this one? I'm a student and so I'm going use it to study, and also to consume some midia like Netflix, and maybe to play some rpg games, nothing with spectacular grafic. What do you guys think?
👍I use my SP4 as my only tablet PC. I use it for everything. I heavily depend on my SP for all of my professional office work & personal computer needs. I haven’t had any problems. The way I work I don’t keep a bunch of programs open at the same time. I have two different color keyboards (just to switch things up😁) and I have the Brydge keyboard THAT I LOVE LOVE LOVE & like it for times when I want the look and feel of a notebook laptop. I don’t need the SP for gaming & editing & rendering training videos for my business is no problem. I’m going to upgrade to the newer SP this week May 2018 only because it’s on sale at Best Buy & I have decided to upgrade every 2 yrs (just my own personal preference) because I rely so heavily on my SP (I would upgrade every 2 yrs no matter what computer or laptop I’m using). Thanks for sharing your commentary & perspective. 💞
Correct, you would not buy this for gaming... The gpu isn't too bad though, and good enough for light/casual gaming if you are ok with tuning down the settings.
The Surface Pro 3 fan hardly comes on & only when I'm using programs (heavy duty programs like Poser & PS.CC with high Res. artwork). You must have to many apps running in the background. And as far as how loud the fan is on the S.Pro3... its not loud at all. If you're comparing the fan running to no sound at all, then perhaps its loud. The S.Pro3 fan isn't even 1/3rd the noise level of any normal laptop fan
You need to stop comparing it to a surface pro 3 mate. have you been living under a rock the last 2 years? this surface pro is an upgrade from the surface pro 4. Pro 3 has been out of the picture far to long it should not be used in any comparison.
There are plenty of comparisons to SP4 already, literally every single possible review on TH-cam mentions the SP4. I have the SP3 and although I already know the difference and why I'd upgrade, this is a relevant review. Especially since he doesn't have the SP4 experience to compare to anyway.
Thanks for the review! I'm an SP3 (i7 8GB) owner, thinking to upgrade to this NSP (i5 8GB) because it's fanless. My main concern is on battery life, since in the SP3 is not good. As you said, Microsoft claims to be 13.5 hours of video playback, but what is your experience?
Hi I'm kinda new to the surface pro. Can anyone tell me if the keyboard for the pro 4 be used for the latest surface pro? Thanks in advance for any help
Hi! I want to buy a surface pro i5 8gb ram for college. Mostly for taking notes with the surface pen and to have a laptop. Is it recommended? I noticed there is a little delay writting with the surface pen, since I want it to writte on it, it is important. Is it that noticeable?. My other option was the iPad Pro but I wanted to see the perspective of a person who owns one. Thanks!
Newer surface pens with completely nonexistent latency are backwards compatible. Wait isn't this the 2017 surface? This generation already had the best pen, its older ones that had problems, his one has pure praise.
12:59 We "will not get the cervix experience"? No sale! In all seriousness, your review helped me put into prospective that i dont need high end i7 if my main PC is going to be leaps and bounds over it no matter what. :)
Hi, jumping in a little late to the game here, I want to buy this model to use just for university, does it have any good note taking features apart from onenote? I'm trying the samsung s6 lite and missing the windows functionality. Any info would help thanks!
What is the max capacity of the micro-SD card? I can get 512Gb for around £50, I am getting the 256Gb version with an I5 processor for £300. Keyboard and stylus in include. Grade A quality Is that a good deal?
No mention of the NVMe ram SSD speed, most people would never max out the processor except people compiling video clips. Your video was very incomplete and centered around your life and it is a business machine.
i m trying to find a computer for studing but i don't wanna use apple so i think i'll take this one. Can someone tell me if that one is durable? i mean use it for several years? (sorry for my english)
yes its good i have it (I would like to apologize in advance for my inadequate level of English proficiency. I am not a native speaker of the world's current lingua franca which unfortunately leads to me making numerous embarrassing mistakes being made whenever I attempt to communicate using this language. Whenever I am reminded of how I lack the ability to convey my thoughts in an eloquent manner I feel as though I have committed a cardinal sin, as though every English teacher in the world are simultaneously shaking their heads and sighing due to how utterly disappointed they are at me.)
I don't think you are reporting correctly. There are newer compatible systems from other manufacturers offering almost identical features and for a lot less.
For photo editing and 1080p video editing it will be excellent. It will just be adequate for 4k video editing though, not fantastic. For that you might want to look at Surface Book with Performance Base.
I'm just the opposite. I have a full desktop system as well as a Ultrabook 2 in 1. Both units are Windows and I enjoy them a great deal. I purchased my first tablet. iPad, when they first came out thinking it would be used more as a toy. I'm now on my third iPad and it's now my go to system. It's lighter and is more efficient than either of the Microsoft systems i own. Now you'll have to pry those computers out of my hand as they are great. I know a tablet isn't for everybody but for me it's great. One of the nicest features of the iPad is the tremendous amount of apps available. Microsoft has to improve their apps as what they offer is horrible. I enjoyed your video. Thanks.

Why is editing video in all computer reviews? Most of us do not buy a computer to edit videos.
true... And I'm pretty sure this device could do it anyway if you wanted to.
The only thing you really can't do is play graphically intense games(without tuning down the settings)
That's actually why I'm watching the video 😂
