I definitely prefer the Canyon Denali, it has so much more presence on the outside and the interior is on a whole another level. Both of these trucks actually have roughly the same amount of leather on the dash. The Ford has the leather on the upper section of the dash, while the GMC has it on the lower section, where it's less visible. GMC also takes it a step further and includes real wood and brushed aluminum trim whereas the remainder of Ford's dash is just plastic.
All the extras on the GMC, ventilated seats, bigger tires, bigger wheels, premium interior, softer road manners, rear airconditioning....worth the price for me!
I've had my Canyon Denali for about 4 months and I absolutely love it. Not a single issue. The Ranger is the worst looking mid-size on the market in my opinion. I'm a Tacoma guy but decided to take a chance on the Canyon given all the tech and features for the price whereas similarly priced Tacos were nowhere near as well equipped. Just hoping my Denali continues being reliable.
I traded in my 2023 Canyon AT4 for a 2024 Ranger Lariat, Ranger Lariat much better in many aspects. Better ride quality/suspension and handling, better tech, better fuel economy, zero issues. I had issues with the canyon, lots of tech glitches etc.
@@TheDeltaFlight Honestly no issues with my new Ranger, I love it so much! Every time I drive it, I think what an awesome truck Lol. Its way better than my 23 Canyon AT4. My only gripes: I didn't get the integrated boxstep, or the pro trailer assist, and would be nice to have a sunroof. But I have every other option with the Lariat FX4 package. The canyon just seen like it was thrown together with not much thought, but the 24 Ranger is well designed truck. lots of cool touches, like the inside door handles, auto folding mirrors, power slide window, garage opener, self parking, ambient lighting, rain sensing wipers, tailgate assist etc.
@@kevindubeI’ve been debating for months on either truck, I have a F-150 now, and thanks to this video and your comment I think I will be going with a Ranger. Thanks for your input!
Thank you JB, I have never seen a video of yours, this is very well done, maybe the best mid size truck comparison… better than TFL for sure. I made my decision a couple of months ago and ordered the 2.7 ranger. The GMC/Chev win the aesthetics competition for sure, but the full package I think tip in favour of the Ford. I like them all!
I waited 8 months for a special order '24 Canyon AT4, and it was worth every minute of wait to replace my '17 Colorado Z71. I was skeptical of the I4T initially, but it has won me over, except when towing my 3,000# camper - 24 MPG not, 12.5 MPG when. My Chevy V6 gave me 14.5 towing the same rig. I DO agree that the center HVAC vents are too low and too small. I get LOTS of compliments on the styling (and my choice of blue paint), and the interior design is miles above the new Colorado and Tacoma.
Waiting for the v6 engine to land on ranger. That white makes it look plain as well. Only thing i wanted was vented seats. Also seeing all the GMC's in the shop comments below, Yeah Ford Ranger.
This is a toss up because both trucks have some nice features that the other doesn’t (ex. Power rear sliding window). As for a spray in bed liner, you can get that done by an after market company and may cost less vs having the dealer do it. If I was buying one today, between these 2 trucks, I would go with the Ranger, but would probably get the V6 engine. I would also do my research on the Toyota Tacoma. Great video…really appreciate the time you put into these videos.
I feel like if they just changed the angle of the windshield on the Ranger it wouldn’t be so bad. I’m a Ford guy, but the GMC takes the cake in the wanna be truck category.
The GMC has cylinder deactivation, but the ford goes not. The GM might be questionable for the long-term of the 2.7, but the Ford 2.3 has had a lot of high mileage Rangers out there and seem to be builtproof with good maintenance
There are some things I like better on the GMC and some more on the Ranger. But with the 2.7L EcoBoost now available on the Ranger, I'd definitely go with the Ford.
Nice Video, tough to know everything about every Vehicle you Review but a couple Differences are that you can't get a Sunroof on any Ford Ranger Trim but the Ranger Rear Seat Backs fold flat whereas Canyons do not. Love the Power Brake Vehicle Hold on Ranger but not available, even though it has an Electronic Parking Brake, on the Canyon. Minor Differences maybe but just wanted to *Note. Would like to see a Comparison Test Drive as I Value different Opinions and since you Review so many more Vehicles than I can ever, would appreciate your POV. No such thing as a Perfect Truck
I'm going with the GMC... the Ford just 'feels' smaller, more of an around-town vehicle. I will be using mine for towing and camping. The added cost for GMC is insignificant because of the 4x4 and other useful included options. I also prefer the 2.7L 3.73 gear.
The Ranger in this comparison is a 4x4. When comparably equipped, the Ranger is 3-5K less expensive. Also, the Ranger is the one that is available with a 2.7 and a 3.73 rear, the Canyon has a 3.42 gear.
I wouldn't fault anyone for buying either truck, they are both compelling products. It is a shame that they both have such obvious cost cutting faults. The manual sliding rear window on the GM twins is inexcusable, especially on a Denali trim. Also, the lack of front storage cubbies, the fixed rear seatback and the hard plastic door cards are disappointing. On the Ranger, it is inexcusable that the folding rear seat isn't split 60/40. Also disappointing are the lack of a sunroof, lack of an automatic 4x4 mode, lack of vented seats and the hard plastic rear door cards. I'm also not sure why the Denali is lifted when GM already offers the lifted AT4 and super-lifted AT4X. I really wish that manufacturers would offer midsize trucks in a trim level that is more focused on on-road handling, towing and hauling. Where is my Canyon SS or my Ranger ST?
Ford has a beter quality interior and is more premium with better tech all round. The Ranger has also proven to be a very reliable vehicle, all around the world with the next gen Rangers available in other countries for a while. Like locally built Ranger in South Africa, international car of the year
Thank you for Terrific Comparison! How was the build quality between the two trucks? Did you find one exhibited better traits [like ride quality]? Kindly Graham.
It's funny how we think different I like plastic where he's pointing at.It's easy to keep clean But it all depends on how you're using the truck if you use it as a work truck As an off road rig plastic plastics actually beasier to keep clean you don't rip anything But if you want luxury well then you want Soft feeling stuff And then he liked the suspension because it was made out of aluminum and I like the other suspension because it ends you in it. Aluminum can crack you later. Rock wrong still just bend. I'm not saying I don't understand his Point of view it's a truck not a suv
The GMC no question. The Ford even with the higher trim package looks like a work truck, plain. The GMC cost more and it looks like it. Where's the reason to buy the Ford when you have a choice? Unless you are a Ford employee and get a discount.
I really like both of them but to be fair, the Ford has: better ingress/egress, more comfortable front seats, more rear seat space, better visibility, better on road performance (with the 2.7 V6), better fuel economy, a rear seat that folds flat, a power rear window and a much better reputation for reliability. It also looks a lot less like a work truck in a better color.
I"m a current 2016 Canyon owner. After $20k in repairs in the past 8 years . I don't think the Ford could be in any way worse than my truck. Although a few minor things bother me about the Ford, the front end looks like an SUV, 4A is only currently available UNLESS you buy the Raptor. And no push button start unless you buy lariat or Raptor. I'm hoping they correct that when the tremor arrives.
Blows my mind Ford deleted the rear AC on the rangers and refuses to put in ventilated seats. Can't even consider that in Texas summer.
