Fellow introvert mama here! Aside from getting up before the kids, I cannot overstate how helpful an hour (or two) of "quiet time" for young kids is. Where they read or play quietly in their room after lunch. It helps me feel recharged and like I can catch my breath before dinner rush!
I would love that! Unfortunately my 3y old is FULL of energy, up at 5:30-6am, no nap and bedtime 9-9;30pm, we literally don’t get a break, not in the morning, during the day or evening. Thankfully my almost 1yold seems to be a better sleeper so far
Just saying, in many countries women are encouraged to lounge around after giving birth. In Canada, we take one year maternity leave and husband can be off for three months to help their wives. In many other countries, women stay in bed for one month and recover while family members cook, clean and help with the baby. Resting is the most important mode and not resting can significantly impact long term health.
yes! this mindset of being "productive" 3 weeks post-partum is insane! However, when you have other kids, it´s a tricky balance to find.... But yes I am also against this mindset of getting back in your routine so soon...Omg give yourself a break, it´s the only time in your life you should and must! But the US is different, no one cares about mums mental health there...
I agree with you. Traditionally, moms take three months to rest, but honestly, in the modern world, it is a luxury. Even though, I wish Mom take at least one month...
I totally get this in theory - but honestly I feel like it's flipped for me personally. Pregnancy is very difficult for me and all I want to do is rest (and I do so as much as I can with young kids). But once the baby is a couple weeks old, I have SO much energy, feel like myself again, and cannot WAIT to get back into the normal swing of things after so long feeling "laid up." Plus, other kids remain in their routine which kind of forces you to get back into it. It honestly would be worse for my mental health I think if I just continued to lounge around after the initial recovery period, because it's just not at all what I want to do. I actually found this with my first - I really tried to do the "first 40 days" and rest as much as possible...I ended up going crazy, getting cabin fever, and it basically backfired lol. After that, I choose to listen to my body postpartum and not follow "the rules." It's just not the same for all women, and this is intuitively what feels right for me.
@@BeccaBristow Yes! Lounging around - even with a newborn - is not relaxing to me at all. I have to get back into my routine asap to feel like myself. Even with my first, I think I would have felt better mentally and physically if I had gotten back to work sooner instead of trying to “rest” all the time.
For my husband and i, in the little season, we had Monday date night every week. The kids would all dress up the way they think they looked the most fancy, I would dress up super fancy, and we would all decorate the table fancy. We would have a simple meal, like spaghetti, with music and dancing afterwards. We did that for several years until they were old enough to take their date night to their room while we stayed in the living room for our date night! Now they make macaroni and cheese with hot dogs for their date night meal (special treat here!), And we have whatever we want for date night.
Hey mama, congrats on the new little one, she's beautiful! That head of dark hair! ❤❤ I like getting up earlier than my family too; it's powerful! Citrus EO's are the best! I appreciate you and your videos and I'd love to see more specifically how you get everything done with a nursing baby... cooking from scratch, meals, dishes, laundry, some cleaning, other children, homeschool, your businesses, etc... your routines and schedules please! Oh, bonus! I'd love to hear you talk about baby sleep, methods, timing, etc. Thanks Becca! ❤
Id love to learn about your method of baby wearing - do you just wear your baby all day and stop to nurse? At what age do you stop baby wearing? Do you sleep train your children? I’m blown away by how productive you are with so many children and a home business - I can barely balance life with my one newborn! I’d love to learn more about how you manage the different stages of your children’s life❤️
I would like to tell you I appreciate you mentioning you work full time. I know your job or schedule isn’t typical, but it is hard work and you juggle that with motherhood. As a part time out of the home working mom, influencers who say they don’t work make me crazy! You have a ton to do, probably more than most so own that. It helps us relate to you! Thank you!! ❤
Eight months postpartum and a fellow stay at home, working for myself, mom! Wow, did I need this. I would absolutely love to see a day in your life as a full-time working mom as well as cooking meals and taking care of the babies!
Buying an espresso machine was the best decision EVER. Used to go several times a week and now I’ve only gone to a coffee shop 2x in the past five months.
I appreciate this video so much! I am a full time mom all day then in the evenings I waitress when my husband gets home. That’s my “break” if you want to call it that. I have been saying for 2 years now I need to get up in the morning before my kids so I can have some me time, maybe do the tredmil or just have a second to think. Gonna start this morning tomorrow! Thanks lovely!
Absolutely love the vibes of your morning routine 😌 so inspiring ❤️ Iv just had my second daughter two months ago and iv made the decision to wake up before everyone else too. So worth it to have myself ready for the day. Once I have more of a routine going on and baby is sleeping through the night completely I’ll start. She’ll usually wake up once or twice a night now and my eldest wakes me up 6:30 every morning asking for breakfast. It’s so hard to just open my eyes in the morning after a 3 or 5am feed.
Loving these tips! So practical but also so impactful. I just had my second (he is 3 weeks old) and while my mood has been better this pp, I haven’t really been getting read y for the day. Thanks for the inspiration!
I am a mom of 3, soon to be 4. Part time PA. I appreciate your advice I have watched a LOT of postpartum advice videos over the years and I think yours is great :-)
But where are your other kids when you’re tidying up. That’s where I struggle is keeping my toddler from getting into something while I’m doing any kind of self care
Thank you for this video. I do all those things and they truly work. I wanna tell you about my newest addition; I bought a rebounder. It has been great to lose weight, boost my mood all while having fun. It takes mec10-15 minutes daily. I totally recommend a mini trampoline 😊
I love those, but truthfully, I've never been able to wake up before my kid... We live in an apartment, and if I start to move around at 6am, he'll just wake up, and we're screwed. So I take the sleep instead. The only downside is that because I wake up with him, I cannot do anything in the morning and it's tough. And taking a shower at night is HARD for me, I'm so dead tired. So it's a lose-lose situation here so far. 2d is due any day now, I've got to get my shit together if I ever want to shower again 😂☠️
Figure out how to shower while your kid plays in the shower (assuming they’re really 10+ mo to like young enough that it’s not weird to have them in the shower with you)! It can be like bath time for him with toys and whatnot.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t diffuse essential oils because they are too strong for infants lungs unless it’s only specific ones . I’d love to use them again so someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Actually if the essentials oils are pure and tested, a lot, they are safe to use. I massaged my little one with essential oils (of course diluted for their age and only the ones that are not very strong ex. Roman chammomile, lavander etc. Before the essential oils I am using, I wasn't so sure about using essential oils internally or on my daughter. Sorry for my english, it's not my main language.
Liked the tips. My #1 life changing habit for peace, energy, mood, productivity (and so much more!) is PRAYER. Has truly changed my life. Do first thing in the morning- 1:1 with our Lord. Whatever time you can give Him (He knows your responsibilities and all you have to do in a day). If we have time to scroll on social media we can certainly make time for Prayer. And don’t forget our Mother Mary! Mary is the safest, easiest, shortest and most perfect way of approaching Jesus.
