Many poles fought for the Ottoman Empire. For example Józef Bem (Murad Pasza), Konstanty Borzęcki (Mustafa Dżelaleddin Pasza), Ludwik Bystrzonowski (Arslan Pasza), Feliks Breański (Szahin Pasza), Władysław Kościelski (Sefer Pasza), Antoni Aleksander Iliński (Iskender Pasza) or Seweryn Bieliński (Nihad Pasza).
Kemal Atatürk (founder of the Republic of Turkey) said about Konstanty Borzęcki ''Build him a statue made of gold'

Poles have certain respect for Turkey, because despite many wars in the past, Turkey showed more respect to occupied 19th century Poland than supposed Polish allies. ( Hungary are exception as usual)

hi, do you prefer English or Polish? If you want to know more about the past of Adampol, please read the books about a Polish teenager who went to his family in Adampol. Książki napisał Eugeniusz Paukszta - Korony księcia Dardanów, W cieniu hetyckiego sfinksa. The action was placed in 1966 or a little bot lated, but before 1972, Turkey and Adampol are certainly different to what you has found now. Julita

Turkey has always been an immigrant country throughout her history, Poles are welcome as any other group
Unlike other immigrants Poles were rewarded with land because their uprising against Russians (go Poles :P) which is an uncommon practice, officials usually prefer to distribute immigrants into existing societies so that immigrants can mix with them within a generations or so
