Pigments keeps sounding better and better with every update. Those guys always know how to deliver something fresh and interesting with it. Good on them
Why do people always make fm demos sound like some cursed bells or chimes or some shit? I get it, fm lends itself to sounds like that but just make a filthy bass or something.
Lol at 'cursed bells' . True what you say, FM synthesis is responsible for a lot of the early Drum 'n bass 'bass' sounds. A good example of these tones can be found in F-em VST and particularly the Stranjah presets.
@SuperLinuxAudioGuru yeah man, lot's of big basses and stuff have been made in fm. Loads of obnoxious sounding bell/metallic tones have too unfortunately. I love fm, it's probably my favourite method of synthesis for sound design. I've made thousands of sounds in sytrus (it's getting out of hand, I've made over 300 drum one shots with it 😂) and not once did I think "oh I'll make really weirdly dissonant sounds that I can't really use for anything".
People in the 80s/90s were able to use various routings and modulation to emulate many different kinds of instruments with FM. I think that art form is kind of lost in a time where most “sound designers” are just making growls and bass
@@kwaddamage8286 it's not lost at all. I mean, even I can make pretty decent modelled snares, strings, bass guitars and various other things so I'm guessing there are a bunch of other "sound designers(😉)" still doing stuff like that. It's kind of not necessary though, there's better options for modelling now so people who are focused on that kind of thing will be using other things.
The other festure in Zebra 3 that seems amazing is how a mono patch can have the release of each note play until the end after you play a new note. The demo showed him playing this simple lead patch that was so silky sounding becuase the release wasnt cut off when playing each note.
I tried Lumo. The character knob is a semi gimmick. Used on a drum break and did the phase cancellation trick. When the character is at +1.0. It phase cancels out at +1 (obviously) and also at -1.0. So both directions seemingly do the exact same thing. It's pretty obvious this is basically just Inflator. And giving this out free is just a loss leader move wit the main goal is obtaining email signups to spam you with sales emails. Email sign up is required to get the plugin.
Zebra has a lovely sound. But Phase Plant has a quantizer - you can chose it within the mods and then edit the waveform to choose the notes and then modulate it in sync to track. It looks like Zebra just does that with what looks like a sequencer.
There's not many plugin companies I'd trust to deliver every single time, but u-he is one of those companies. Can't think of a bad or even underwhelming release from them (unless you're one of those people who really doesn't like Hive 2).
Maintaining the transience of material and not decreasing its dynamic range are two fundamentally different statements. But the marketing team expects you to not know that. This is simply parallel processing. Parallel compression/saturation etc. have been around for decades.
Liking the oldschool gui on zebra 3.. lumo did add some punch it felt a bit like a tape effect in how it adds some character, gave my bass a little more punch.. felt like it was doing sort of a smack type effect imo it did add distortion but it wasn't massive distortion but it was noticable.. gain staging may be helpful in using it properly as the boost on it can add a lot to and reduce headroom hence the dynamics concerns. I would probably get pigments if it was an upgrade rather than a cross grade from v collection, as such this is more of a wait for sale item as I don't want to sacrifice v collection and I just got falcon 3 via the image-line sale that is going on for the falcon plus expansion packs as well as the synth anthology so my purchase for the month for vsti's is done.
Great job man can't understand why they wouldn't send you an evail copy when you have so many fans on your beats and with a thumb right up the back end of the producer community, whoever that may currently be, that take you're advice seriously as you know what up or down🤓
I'm _very_ eagerly awaiting my free upgrade to Zebra 3 when it comes out (if purchased before Zebra Legacy became a thing, owners of Zebra 2 and Dark Zebra get a free upgrade, and owners of Zebra 2 get a €30 upgrade). And Pigments 6 gives a quite nice set of new features. It is amazing that it is still a free upgrade since the initial release in 2019.
Re bacon paul, i JUST plugged my tx back in a couple days ago after years of collecting dust. I was going to try and find the programmer software i used to have on an old machine, but maybe ill just use this.
What are you on man, the Lumo thing has been done a thousand times. It's the Inflator trick. It's a waveshaper with symmetric saturation. It's the same tech as Inflator, Newfangled Saturate, saturation knob in smart:limit, PiMax, JS Inflator, Red Rock Inspirer, etc.
Why does lumo feel like they will be using your tracks to train someone’s AI and that why is free lol. Does anyone else think that company’s that might be doing that with there softwares with out letting the people know?
The Arturia thing has me thinking tho... I *kinda* don't but plugins unless you review them. I guess it was subconscious but yeah. When you said they didn't send it to you it f'd with my consumer trust. So idk if anyone sees this send weaver your plugins.
Yea, his hair is fine. I think I see what he's thinking of though and if he has one of those pairs of thinning sheers he could soften it some, if he wants.
I’ve been primarily using Zebra 2 as my main soft synth for over 10 years. Pumped about this release.
Yeah love zebra2 and that zebralete 3 beta is seriously chunky sounding for an additive can't wait for 3
same dont tell no one nobody knows lol :p
Pigments keeps sounding better and better with every update. Those guys always know how to deliver something fresh and interesting with it. Good on them
U-He never under-deliver.
BaconPaul is the man. He made AirWindows consolidated and he's one of the main people behind Surge. I'm very excited for anything he releases.
Maaan I use Airwindows on everything! It's so good.
Thanks for the info
LET'S GO! PIGMENTS 6!

Yeah, those bells that can't be inserted next to any well tempered instrument because the overtones don't line up with anything.

That "terrible haircut" deserves 100K subs.
New Pigments is sick and I loved the free update. Some really quality sounds
Nice honest straight forward review as usual Weaver.
Hair isnt that bad homerz. Zebras always have great sounds. zebra3 seems sweet :)

Pigments 6 looks insane
Thanks.Downloaded LUMO, put it in front of Limiter, really makes the techno track a bit better/louder.
i love arturia so much for the way they rather update both hw and sw.
Free plugins are data collector shells and then sell your data to other plugin companies.
Haircut looks good

Hello jocks, bangin haircut here

Hair looks good bro.
Wait Weaver doesn't have Pigments? I would suggest you get it, during one of their many sales for $99 or with V Collection, also during a sale.
Might actually start using Pigments now with the modal engine, sounds good
Arturia Pigments was such a nice investment. Pumping out awesome updates FOR FREE. Thats customer-care!

WORD !!! But I dont always like the visual updates on Analog Lab tbh, but Pigments levels up every time imo
I learn. I laugh. I love. You are fucking fantastic. Thanks for the videos.
lumo looks good for mixing IF it works as advertised
Re bacon paul, i JUST plugged my tx back in a couple days ago after years of collecting dust. I was going to try and find the programmer software i used to have on an old machine, but maybe ill just use this.
been waiting for zebra 3 after zebralette

hi Weaver
Zebra3 will make them millions.
I have the Canadian model of that Yamaha synth: the TX 81 Zed
wauw actually a music video instead of he said she said drama bullsh*t
Pigments 6 FTW! Now my main synth
Zebra beta is fun and available. They said it is the latest version so it could be the alpha
Zebralette is not the same thing.
So, basically Zebra 3 and Pigments 6 are doing things that Falcon has been doing for ages.
Please return to putting reverb/delay on the word "NEWS" in your intro. Thank you!

I was frantically impatient for Zebra3. But I bought Synthmaster3 so I'm happy waiting for Z3 now

Mate, I came here to tell you you over promise.
What language are you speaking?
@@85tolife25 One that's outside of your linguistic understanding?

I think your hair looks nice.
Dude wtf is up with your hair? Just kidding I didn't even notice your haircut and wouldn't have had you not said anything.
