Best New Boat Under 100k? Parker 2320 Overview

  • Anytime we use the words "best" and "boats," there has to be some qualifications. By Best New Boat Under 100k here, I'm talking about near shore, deep vee boats. The Parker 2320, at under 90k new, certainly fits that bill.
    I recently had the pleasure of fishing with Team El Nino and Captain Nino Averso spent a few minutes after our trip going over his 2015 Parker 2320 Deep V Pilothouse.
    Hope you enjoy!

    For the real story on any particular boat do a search on You Tube and find someone with an older one who is rebuilding it. That gives you the inside look on structure and hull thickness among many other important things the salesmen never know about or talk about if they do. When Parker first showed up in the PNW I had a pretty good impression of them as a utilitarian fish boat that could be cleaned with a hosing at day's end for a very reasonable price. Then the price went sky high and I started watching rotten decks being replaced. The substructure and layup were a big, big let down. Seems a common story. A company starts out small with a quality product at a reasonable price and then as it gets very popular the quality goes down and the price through the roof. They are a nice design.

      Parker for years, and I’ll be honest, I am not sure if they still do this or not, used a lot of wood in building their boats, which eventually can lead to what you described above

    Nice video! When the day comes for me to get a boat it's going to be between a Parker or Steiger. Buddy of mine has a 26' Steiger and i love it. The one thing i will say with the pilot houses vs a CC is the limited visibility. I find that to be the only con with his boat. Driving at night at higher speeds can get a little frustrating.

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Check out Robalo for a great entry level base model CC with a starting price under 30K with trailer. I know it’s not a pilot house or forward cabin model, but still great price for someone getting into boating. Their bay boats nicely equipped can be had at less than 45K for a 20 footer with Yamaha 150 ( without TTop). With TTop your closer to 50K. Their base starting price is under 40k

    Seriously considering building a diy.
    Fresh water lake aluminum jon with a custom build extended cabin. Including a bow birth. The cost is too much for a common fisherman. I believe a diy build at about 40k can be just as good if not better than a factory new.

    I like the tackle station/cooler setup. For what they do i would think a 23CC would be better setup. Would eliminate the 2nd station. But those guys catch fish so cant knock them. And fuel burn sounds wayyy too high. Would think that boat gets 2.5-3mpg, not 1.5. Nice video.

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Thibault nope. My last boat was a Cobia 256 CC with an F300 and I can tell you as a single on a heavier hull, it’s a thirsty engine. They’re more efficient as singles on lighter set ups but once in that 4400 to 46/4700 rpm range, you’re burning a lot of fuel.....

    Debating selling my Boston Whaler 255 Conquest because the market is so hot right now...the only apprehension is waiting for the market to turn around to replace it. I have a feeling in 2-3 yrs once all the new Boaters(city folks) who bought up all the new and used inventory out here realize they aren’t getting any better at operating them-we should have a bunch to choose from.
    It’s amazing that every place that sells boats on this island has basically nothing on their lots-and what few there are-are grossly over priced.My choice for a NEW boat would be a Grady White 232 Gulfstream from Port of Egypt.23’ boat with a 9’2” beam-biggest little boat they build...Definitely not under 100k- but so what...I love that boat and while it’s not a pilot house-with the hard top and full enclosure your fully out of the weather in April and November.

    You can get a lot more boat if you buy used. I am not taking about 20 years old 😂
    Buy something that is all composite with no wood. Unless it was dropped off a cliff, the hull will have 0 issues.
    The motor should also still be under warranty. The owner should be able to provide all maintenance records.
    Who cares what the market is. You will always pay less for a used boat compared to new. Never pay close to new price for a used boat that is a few years old. Not unless it's under a year old.

My friend Carl bought a 27 new and the port side had major water intrusion causing the boat to list. Sea Hunt’s way of addressing it was adding weight to starboard side to correct list. I personally wouldn’t touch one but I understand their appeal. They are very affordable and look great. I know all about that boat and agree 100%. Almost bought a brand new one in 2016 that was for sale in Miami. Was originally sold to the Venezuelan government to be used as a military boat and the US sanctions program blocked the sale. Was all blacked out with zero fishing features or I would have bought it. Most underrated, sleeper fishing boat out there. Shame it’s not produced anymore....

      @@jiggingjerks it is a shame indeed. I heard that the boat was designed by homeland security and angler won the contract to build them. It's a dang good riding boat. It is too bad the blacked out one in Miami wouldn't work. I'm in Jacksonville FL and I have seen a couple being used by govt agencies.

    These boats ate not under 100k tho im on the west coast they are 130k. New anyways, i ended up with a defince Admiral 250 ex got it for 99k 25 footer no wood in the deck lifetime warranty on the hull with a offshore bracket

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. The model I showed off boat trader was under 100, in fact under 90. That’s without taxes and add one of course. I think boats in general made on the East Coast sell for a premium on the west coast. Defiance I believe is made on the west coast so could be cheaper for you guys there. Nice boat by the way - almost bought same model in 2016 but got scared away by some of the folks on the Bloody Decks website....

      Jigging Jerks Yeah also we use live bait tank systems so that adds alot to the price tag. Also on the west coast we use offshore brackets for the better ride. All things that come standard on the defiance. Yes there was a defiance boat that crashed that had a failed engine in rough weather. Big waves rough water no engine any boat will go down

      Thanks for answering! I really dont know to much about boats but me and my dad are planning to get one that's in the range of 15 to around 20 feet. We really just want something that can go around, not neccessary the ocean but in bays and fishing spots

      Daniel Nemirov Lots of options in that range. I personally love the Cobia brand. They make a 20 and a 21 footer that you could find used in your price range

      I’m sure the TV has more space and probably rides better BUUUUTTTTTT, google Twin Vee issues before making a decision. If it were my money, I’d take a 25 Parker (a fairer comparison) over the 26 TV. Just one man’s opinion here....

      @@jiggingjerks Yeah, TwinVee gets a lot of bashing on thehulltruth. I wonder if the new owner has made things any better. But sure, Parker is a safer bet. Have you looked at other cats? Prowler 25? I heard you can get a somewhat basic one for about $150k new.

      James Stong we grew up fishing Delaware waters and we fair very well. Fishing up north consistently is a bucket list thing for us. It’s a dream come true for us to fish those waters out East. Anyone that talks about hardcore inshore fishing usually mentions Montauk once or twice. We fish it almost every weekend and love it. It’s very addictive.

    Always, always offer way less. Sure, they will "tell you" it isn't possible, they are selling so fast--yeah, yeah, yeah. Kiss my ass, offer less, and leave your numbers. No way do you just "pay what they ask", no way. Now, IF they truly are selling "so fast" they may have you, and you do not have them. Maybe, but don't assume it's true.
