Full transparency even so, I booked my “Train ride” from Paris to London and paid nowhere near 300. They served lunch plus, snacks ,and complimentary champagne. Unfortunately,I was not able to enjoy bc I had the worst toothache of my life. Thank you for the video, I believe in America were should invest in our infrastructure particularly in the northeast but still have a lot of categorizes to improve on.
I think it’s all preplanned for perfect weather and then they slow down for heat and other weather things. there’s an exact starting point and ending point to where it goes up to 150 miles an hour. It only goes that one segment.
The only way that it’s worth it is if you buy a regular Acela ticket and then you use a coupon. I bought an Acela ticket for $181 and use my free upgrade. If I didn’t use the upgrade, it was gonna be $475. You can buy upgrades with points or if you spend enough, they give you free upgrades as well. So I’ve still got a few more left.
I'm going to nyc with amtrak in november for $35 instead of $300+ 😂. But on the other hand, I'm going to fulfill my dream of going to a michelin starred restaurant so, i can go slower to have more money.
That’s a better decision. Every time I book a trip it’s last-minute because of my job, so I never get those good rates like $35. And I’ve never eaten that Michelin star restaurant. I should probably try to do that at some point lol
@@DMVAdventures Albi's at the navy yard and Sushi Nakazawa just off the mall are both excellent in DC. There are plenty of others but those are the 2 I've been to. Significantly harder to get a table at Nakazawa's, though.
@@jgalt99 The 1 spot I've been eyeing for years is the Sushi place. I want to do the meal and the whisky pairing. The problem is always I have to double the price because of 2 people. But I gotta do it once!
Only the cross country trains with the full dining car have comparable food. I liked this acela main dish better than the flat iron dinner and hamburger lunch I usually get on the Cross Country. The trains from DC to Chicago and DC to New Orleans whatever those "limited" routes are have not very good food, that was the food I was showing in the video. It has been many years since I've gone cross country, now I'm getting hungry thinking about the food on those.
Yeah, this one is one of the nicer ones too. You should have seen the overnight train I took to Chicago. It was damp and wet, rain was leaking in, one of the seats was ripped out. It was gross. And slow.
During rush hour on the weekdays, especially out of New York or Washington are mostly dressed up in suits and other business attire in First Class. During the weekends and holidays, I've seen people dress caually on the otherhand.
Very interesting. I've never splurged for first class on any travel as I don't think it's ever worth it. I don't drink alcohol so even that isn't a selling point! I'm travelling across Canada (4 nights/ 110+ hours) on the train in November in 'Sleeper Class' which includes meals.
Regular Train not worth it (I got the free upgrade) but Sleeper car is technically first class and is totally worth it. You will love it. I only did US Sleeper but I heard Canada is the best.
Love that you cover the non ideal bits of your travels too, it makes you sound a lot more realistic and trustworthy. Thanks 🙂
Thanks for checking out the video!
Awesome!!🗽🗽🗽🗽🌞🌞
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, you want to be going as fast as possible through Camden, New Jersey. 😆
All of New Jersey lol they don’t call it the armpit of America for no reason 😅

Good vid new update, finally.A
Do you have to tip the attendants?
I just booked tickets for $55 business class and plan to do a poor bid upgrade to first. Crossing fingers!
I haven’t tried the bid thing yet.
I wonder how the conductors determine how fast the train can go on certain portions of the trip?

@@DMVAdventures Cool! Thanks for the added info
$367 dollars EACH WAY is the lowest I found, too rich for my blood !

Check prices 3 months or more out. Way cheaper. NYC to Boston can be had for $253

Not a fare comparison, as the Cross Country Trains, now have full meal service, the good stuff, again, actually better then Acela...

So much better than brightline.
Is that the Florida one? I want to check that train out soon.
American trains are just ridiculously expensive and low quality compared to trains in Asia such as China and Japan.

I wish those who travel in First Class would would dress that way.
