That's exactly what i said as soon as I heard INXS were looking for a new singer. Dale was the only singer that could have done it. And i don't think it's a big call, you just know your Oz music.
A great voice and a big presence. I nearly bumped into Dale in the Darwin Botanical gardens outside the Ampitheatre before I knew who he was I thought he must be a big rock star. Unbuttoned silk shirt and black curly hair, what a presence he had. No security but humble with a smile. A good guy.
@@assuredaviation9116 ,, didn't you see footage of the Sydney harbour bridge? Boom Crash Opera, another band from the 1980s. The 1980s were the golden years of Australian music.
Absolutely LOVE that movie. Watched it so many times. If not for Gordon Farkus. That surname works well for a car salesmen. ( Fark us ) Danny's parents were a classic to watch. They played the part well. You are right about this song playing in the movie. It was the scene after they swapped back the motors from the Jags. Reminds me of when we would stay out all night then head home as the sun was coming up. Only a memory now.
Thank you for this song. Right now as I type this ~ before this song was played was feeling sad and giving up . Then i could hear this song suddenly playing in my mind. So I come to TH-cam and put it on. And I am feeling hopeful while I dance in the storm 🎶🔮⭐🦋✌💗
i love me some 80s aussie music,so many great memories. And i cant take my eyes off the beautiful dale ryder. Id happily dance in the storm with that man
THIS IS MUSIC. my god our past musicians being it american or Aussie were so talented now there is really nothing left this day and age. all techno and rap shit i definitely grew up in the wrong era (only 26).
Honestly there's a whole folk pop movement that American hipsters are into now that sounds exactly like this. Mumford and Sons are just Boom Crash Opera with more Banjos.
*This isn't from the 8Os...this song was released around April 199O. But yes, such a great uplifting song. I can play it a thousand times and not get sick of it.*
I saw them play one of their first gigs at the Crystal/ Seaview Ballroom in St Kilda to roughly 10 people. And i remember telling everyone the next day they would be on the charts soon. A few weeks later Great Wall hit. Great times.

Its 2019 4th September and I am an Aussie and I barely recall this song from my late teenage childhood. Searching for Dancing in the Rain for Hurricane/Cyclone/Typhoon Dorian and I come across this little big gem of a song. What polish! What perzazz! And what a time of my life. Thanks TH-cam for taking me back to a time where I once belonged to. Good Luck to the USA East Coast. That, Hurry, Cane a Gory Cat 5 Times, is coming to town ... and its coming down, its coming down. Its raining debris on you and me. Its the end of the world as we know it! :o Thankfully we have TH-cam so that we can time travel back to the good old days again. We can spin. We can spin and not fall down. Hold on Tight. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi! And MAGA! :) Now its time to become unwound, dance in the storm and to read some lyrics as we listen to legends of rock and roll! ... Lying in the dark I know you are awake I will not give in, I will not give in Pulling faces and admitting not a thing I will not give in, I will not give in Lightning flash and everything is sharp and clear I can see it all, I can see it all And as the thunder roars, we're raising up a storm We can shout it down, we can shout it down Gone are the days of complacency Gone are the nights of indifference Here we go, here we go for one more turn We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth We can spin, We can spin and not fall down Hold on tight, we can both become unwound You and I are going out And we're dancing in the storm Honestly my foot is always in my mouth Still the words come out, the words come out Not the truth but I have nothing to confess Just a hint of doubt, just a hint of doubt Gone are the days of the sideways step Gone are the nights with no partner Here we go, here we go for one more turn We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth We can spin, We can spin and not fall down Hold on tight, we can both become unwound You and I are going out And we're dancing in the storm In the storm In the storm In the storm (Dancing) In the storm Gone are the days of complacency Gone are the nights with no partner Gone is the way that we used to be Now the corner is turned, heaven knows we've learned Here we go, here we go for one more turn We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth We can spin, We can spin and not fall down Hold on tight, we can both become unwound You and I are going out And we're dancing in the storm Dancing in the storm Gone are the days of the sideways step Gone are the nights with no partner Gone is the way that we used to be Now the corner is turned, heaven knows we've learned
:) Being so young.. Getting ready for school. Didn't like school. But she would be there. With that golden hair in the winter sun, and that smile that still makes me breathe a little quicker.

I’ve never been able to decide which one I like the most; each one has spent approximately the same amount of time ear-worming around in my head, each one features Dale Ryder wearing a floral shirt, each floral shirt is missing several buttons, and each one has been expertly designed by Dale to ensure maximum opportunities for hair-fling-age. And each one is perfect for singing along to in the car, or in the case of this particular tune, for dancing in a storm. Seriously, that chorus! It's an 8.
Big call, but Dale should've been the front man for INXS, after MIchael passed.
That's exactly what i said as soon as I heard INXS were looking for a new singer. Dale was the only singer that could have done it. And i don't think it's a big call, you just know your Oz music.
He sure looks a lot like Michael Hutch
He would have been a great fill in for Michael Hurchence...looks, talent, charisma...he has all it takes.
@@nicolegiesel5613 he sounds like mikey too.
If we’re talking about “should”s, BCO should have continued on to world domination in their own right!
One of the best Australian songs produced, hands down.
Absolutely correct 👍
Dale's voice = perfection. And he still sounds this good as a 67 year old man :-) Such a great iconic band!!
Totally Agree. In voice, looks and personality....Dale is quite literally - perfect!!!
No way is he 67! Surely! Saw BCO gig in Melbourne last month.... definitely looks nowhere older than 50 tbh.

Boom Crash Opera. Their music is timeless, infectious and positive. Awesome band.
Makes me home sick. Once I'm done travelling bury my bones in the Aussie dirt to the tune of these old songs.
Just a 17yr old kid enjoying the 80s 👌
Great soaring melodies. Talented song writers and performers. I was so in love when this song came out... I just flew when I listened to this.
Great Wall has a similar appeal.
Very underrated band
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it when it was released, and I listen to it regularly to this day. It's so uplifting.
*An underrated band/song. It's my ringtone. You can't be sad after listening to this!*
A fitting song for such times.
I worked a couple of their shows as a grunt picking up heavy things, and they sound this good live and are great to work with.
I saw them live in country SA in the 90s, they really were this good!
I watched The Big Steal again the other night(it’s still awesome!), this song was on the soundtrack, had to come and listen.
Absolutely LOVE that movie.
Watched it so many times.

Boom crash opera, aussie crawl, cold chisel, midnight oil and many more. Aussie Rock. Niiiiiice

This is part of the soundtrack of my life!! It is just as fun to listen to now as it was back in 1990!!...and I'm from the US
this band kills any current acts
I'm not a big fan of 80s pop music in general, but this is a brilliantly crafted song. It's undeniable

Lying in the dark I know you are awake
I will not give in, I will not give in
Pulling faces and admitting not a thing
I will not give in, I will not give in
Lightning flash and everything is sharp and clear
I can see it all, I can see it all
And as the thunder roars, we're raising up a storm
We can shout it down, we can shout it down
Gone are the days of complacency
Gone are the nights of indifference
Here we go, here we go for one more turn
We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth
We can spin, We can spin and not fall down
Hold on tight, we can both become unwound
You and I are going out
And we're dancing in the storm
Honestly my foot is always in my mouth
Still the words come out, the words come out
Not the truth but I have nothing to confess
Just a hint of doubt, just a hint of doubt
Gone are the days of the sideways step
Gone are the nights with no partner
Here we go, here we go for one more turn
We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth
We can spin, We can spin and not fall down
Hold on tight, we can both become unwound
You and I are going out
And we're dancing in the storm
In the storm
In the storm
In the storm (Dancing)
In the storm
Gone are the days of complacency
Gone are the nights with no partner
Gone is the way that we used to be
Now the corner is turned, heaven knows we've learned
Here we go, here we go for one more turn
We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth
We can spin, We can spin and not fall down
Hold on tight, we can both become unwound
You and I are going out
And we're dancing in the storm
Dancing in the storm
Gone are the days of the sideways step
Gone are the nights with no partner
Gone is the way that we used to be
