I didn’t know they’re Australian. The song just popped into my head after decades so I came to listen. My first reaction before reading this comment was that they kinda sound like INXS and Midnight Oil.
And here great memories of when I was a teen in San Francisco! This song had a long reach. Plus there is no radio like SF radio. They are the best in the world.
In 1990 I was working at a Radio station in Colorado when the compilation "Look, Listen" came out, and I remembered the bands name from my previous job in NY. I brought to my PD who loved it and this single was one our most requested. A vastly underrated band.
Such an awesome band! I remember sneaking in to clubs to see them when I was 15/16. As I approach 50 this year; I realise this band didn’t get the accolades they deserved. Love them! ❤️
I saw them play in the 80’s with 1927. When they released this. I’m currently educating my Malay missus about the 80’s. She’s not convinced. 😞 these here are crazy times
I remember seeing Boom Crash Opera in a concert on my Uni campus back in the early 90’s. They were awesome and looking back I can’t believe we had such an amazing band come and just play to us Uni kids. Watching this video just brings it all back. I was thinking about my earliest memories of watching bands in concert and this came to mind. Also saw other iconic Aussie bands like Midnight Oil, Hunters and Collectors, The Angels, The Hoodoo Gurus and the Choirboys. Great memories, but this song really takes me back to those days at Uni.
It’s because they are a real band and just get better with time. Duran Duran are just the same… The songs were brilliant from the beginning and just keep getting better as the musicians evolve.
Epitome of early 90s rock songs that were FKin epic and got lost-ish in time. This comes from a now 40 year old that would have been 10 when this song was released!!
The first time I ever heard this song was at a rooftop party in Chicago back in '91. Everyone was having a good time until this group of guys started spiking the punch and a disagreement broke out between the host, and the guy & his friends. Things settled down for a bit until this nerd showed up and taught everyone to do this weird impromptu choreographed dance. Then the nerd guy got totally wasted on the spiked punch and fell off the roof, but it was actually okay because he held onto a ledge until the caterer lady tightrope walked across a clothes line to get to him and pulled him to safety. The cops showed up and arrested the punch-spiker. Boy, what a crazy night. Don't drink underage, kids.
Didn't realise they were recognised in the states. In Australia, they were and still are, a damn fine band live. Lots of fun. the band members used to alwasys banter with the crowd and themselves. Songs like Dancing in the storm, Best thing, Great wall, Hands up in the air, were great songs to sing along to.
you guys shaped my life....sad I say not .....fucking rock! I was there back stage inxs , midnight oil and many aussie bands not as a hanger on but as a true fan...I will sing your songs as long as I live................keep rockin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In 1990, this song was featured on a episode of the Nickelodeon variety show Outta Here!, which was released in that same year. In 1991, this song was heard on the Season 2 episode of Family Matters called "Life Of The Party" (aired February 8, 1991).
Effing amazing. Never heard of this bad before. What an amazing song for speeding down the road with your best mates in the car. Thank you for posting this. I will never understand why Australia exported Air Supply, Men At Work, and Kylie Minoque but kept Boom Crash Opera as a secret? Just an outstanding talented group.
I remember listening to this in a laundry at Bardia Baracks with my feet up on the washing machine, water pissing away over electrical cables with a radio manual on my lap doing some study and just not giving a fuck Sooooooooo long a go good memories : )
Oh Man - there are SO many of them. You would of heard of AC/DC??? from Oz and formed in a very healthy Pub band (not now coz dance has killed it)) I know that's only one band others like the Bee Gees formed here and played the pubs as kids way back then. There were some wonderful hard edge bands back then. Do some research and I hope you will be impressed. Please feel free to communicate if you want more info. Cheers from Oz
Australia produced some of the best bands ever from 80s and 90s,(possibly biased being an Aussie). Hoodoo gurus, midnight oil, inxs, divinyls, angels, screaming jets, dragon, spiderbait, powderfinger, silverchair.... and that's just a few
I love how this song was officially released as a single on the day I was born. First heard it on Family Matters season 2 Life Of the Party. fuckin love it. Too bad it never became a mainstream top 40 Billboard hit. It was only on one chart, in Australia.
God miss the days I go to The Club in Melbourne and watch these guys. Hell they better live then in the Studio. But this song and Album came later after I move to another city. Make me wish I listen to it live as sure like Great Wall, it would be awesome.
3:21 - when an alligator bites your leg -when you stub your toe & your nail is too long - When you rip a band aid off and it takes your pubic hair - when you bang your shin on the coffee table - when you're biting your fingernail and the cuticle peels too far back - when you step on your kids' legos - when you touch a hot pan in the oven and you forgot to put a mitt on - when the metal seatbelt buckle in 105 degree weather touches your elbow - when you burn your finger while ironing your clothes - when you're frying fish and a drop of hot oil pops on your hand - when you sit on a thumb tack the class clown planted in your chair - Edit into THAT SCENE from "Misery"
As a man I was just thinking how hot he looks and women would bend at the knees if Dale came up and said "Hi". He has to be one of the top looking men on this planet!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@gxd4b1 I couldn't get to the last show on the Gold coast the other week but saw them twice last time through. Hopefully see them again before the end of the year.
Just heard this in the episode of Family Matters where Urkel gets drunk at the rooftop party after they perform the "Do the Urkel" dance. Rachel is seen dancing around intensely to this song. Very random, I had to see if this was a real song.
I still remenber cooking some food for Dale at "Frostbites" for a Chapel St fest about 14 years ago, but god he's still hot from what I've seen reciently!!!
Most underrated Australian band and were never given the accolades they deserved!!
Agreed, and Hunters and collectors

Late 80s early 90s were great times for good music. I saw a lot of these music videos on the Rage program on the ABC.
And me, Video Hits

song suddenly came into my head so i typed in youtube and less than 10 seconds later i was listening to it. Couldnt do that back 20 years ago.
Thank God for progress!
I heard it on the tv and I used the Google "what's this song?" and it showed me. Technology just keeps getting better and better.

Progress comes with a price...... At some point it will be time to collect..... GREAT SONG THOUGH!!!

It’s because they are a real band and just get better with time. Duran Duran are just the same… The songs were brilliant from the beginning and just keep getting better as the musicians evolve.
My favourite thing about this clip is that it looks like they're having as mich fun playing the song as we are listening to it, it's a fucking BANGER
"These Here Are Crazy Times" = best bopping album EVER.
I always loved this song! I can remember my friends and I walking around singing this at High School :-)

Did this band, ever sing-along, with 'DEAD or ALIVE"?
George Ezra at number 1 at the moment in september 2018 - this song literally kicks its ass from the Boomers.
Despite a full back page ad in Billboard (spring '90 I think), even allowing radio DJ's to have a free promo CD, this totally tanked in the States.
What an absolute arse-kicker of a song!
