I wonder if step drill bit wouldn't be better for these bots. It it a bit beefier so it may not get broken as easily/often as well as possibly being better at drilling sideways. It may also be worth it to use shorter drill bits as there would be less levrage to break them. Also consider using specialized drill bits based on your current oponent to get better drilling action.
Had no idea Mass had an event like this. I'll have to figure out to watch next time. The control you two displayed vs Red Panda was particularly impressive. Drivability and driver skill is like, often the one shortcoming of many bot fighters, and having a powerful damaging vert spinner like that or even horizontal spinner (albeit more dangerous) doesnt mean a whole lot when you keep getting pinned and pushed around. Honestly surprised RP took the win on that, didn't see them get a lot of good hits on you guys and especially never take the advantage or turn the momentum around.
I'm having a fever and the only prescription is more offensive bot drilling. Sadly it didn't happen in this tournament. Also about the naming roundaboutness: stick one googly eye on the front of the drill arm on 1 bot and two on the sides of the other so you can call them Power of Friendship 1 and 2. I recommend creating a flatter plane on the sides or front of the arm for the googly eye to stick on for better adhesion.
I don't think Coal should have been KO'd. The only reason he wasn't able to free himself was because The Power Of Friendship had him in a sort of pin. Mobility count downs should be done when the opponent is interfering.
Yeah once the PoF bots "released" Cole it took him one reverse/forward cycle for the weapon to become unstuck from the floor but he was already counted out then, a count out should reset every time the opponent bot is touching it. Cole just didn't have grip on the floor while it was being wedged so it had no possibility of unsticking itself. Very bad refereeing honestly.
I wonder if you could find a small and light enough collet to hold the drill bit with more force. Or maybe a keyed chuck? Of course, it's better to lose a drill bit than break a chuck or motor.
Can the drill bits be swapped out with unibits? It'd add some weight, and wouldn't drill through as easily due to the higher surface area of the bit, but it would be more sturdy and cause more damage if it successfully got through. A 1/2 inch unibit would be the safest step in that direction. What I don't know is if unibits would work with the angle that the drills come down at.
We need individual names to differentiate between the two bots. Always having to say "the POF member with the blue/orange drill arm" is a bit long. My proposal would be Naruto and Sasuke. The names fit for the Power of Friendship and the colours are also a rough match. My idea is to call the bot with the orange fork Naruto and the one with the blue fork Sasuke since the forks are the largest and most visible part.
I like your suggestion. I don’t know for sure if I’ll end up using those names specifically but I 100% agree with you that I do need to give the bots individual names just to make things less confusing lol.
@@teamgetwreckedcombatrobots776 They remind me of weird looking birds, the drill beaks really sell it for me. I would name them after birds. The eastern bluebird has a blue head and orange body, and the orange-headed thrush has an orange head and blue body

The drills didn't contribute anything to your winning the fights. In fact, they likely cost you some of the fights since they're so easily destroyed that you lose points on damage. Maybe you could make them more resilient, but you'd be better off just turning them into grabbing arms and having more weight for the wedges or armor that actually help.
Battlebots fights are decided by weight. You can have up to a certain weight limit and as ling as you dont go over anything goes. Now their is a rule against swarms, if i recall correctly you can only go up to 3 bots. And these 3 bots have to be collectively under the weight limit. Tldr: its more like 1 robot worth 2000 points vs 2 1000 point robots
@@eiplays2768 ohh makes more sense, thank you. I personally think that’s a big advantage, considering that size isn’t so important for a robot. Like you could just have a tiny one with a hydraulic spike and you’re generating the same power

my thougths exactly. He needs a stronger weapon.
That "bro fist" or "handshake" form Red Panda to The Power Of Friendship at 11:22 is heartwarming
i dont know how you loose matches where you were in full control of the opponents robots for30-50% of the match
I swear once that drill can just stay in youve gotten everything else and the strategies down pact.
I’m wondering how POF lost when they had control for the whole fight until the last 30 seconds
Exactly, i think the judges just felt bad for red panda tbh

Absolute fan of POF! You did awesome :D Good luck in the next event!

Should use a sds chuck and bit system instead of a normal chuck.

Rule of cool! Power of Friendship did manage to drill a battery during an NHRL match. There are videos of it on TH-cam.
If they make their own drill with not so easily detatchable drill bits, they can stand more of a chance.
A collet or keyed chuck maybe?
I’m confused, they get to fight 2 on 1?
