I like to add acrylic paint to my gesso when doing backgrounds. Burnt Sienna or Raw Sienna are my two favorite pigments to use. I've also used drops of acrylic ink to color my gesso. That way you are not left with such a stark white, and it gets the page/cover/whatever started in the right direction.

Thanks for another inspiring video. I never would have considered using book pages as the substrate for the journal cover. I plan on trying this some time. Likewise stitching the piece for the closure is something I definitely will be doing. I love the final product. I appreciate your reminder to work in "baby steps". As I am new to this style, I am definitely taking your suggestion to heart. I'm striving for a happy medium point between art journal ing and junk journaling as I work out my style. Your videos are helpful. Thank you.

Your struggles paid off, the cover is gorgeous! I am learning so much from your videos, one thing is that I stop way too soon! Your comments about seeing your own edited video back was helpful too because we, well I, am hard on myself sometimes because it looks so easy when you watch someone else do it. For me it’s that battle of the mind, should I use this or that or neither? You are a joy and an inspiration!💕🇨🇦

At least it tells me not to get discouraged; I try to be patient; I do not see what the end of the art looks like until it is finished. You do inspire. Another incredibly helpful tutorial. Little tip when I’m trying to seal in distress ink. I stamp the sealer in. I use a sponge brush and gently stamp it over. It doesn’t smear no where near what it did for you and it keep more of its original look.

That was stunning. Thanks for the idea. I have something I want to cover and this would be perfect to make the journal cover. You helped me out. Lots of love and hugs ❣️ to you. I love the cover.

I love how everything turned out!!!! I was sure you were going add the copper gilding wax on those corners, you surprised me and didn't! Thanks for communicating your struggles as well, helps me not question myself as much.

Beautiful cover, Barbara!! I’m so surprised you didn’t add gold wax to the texture paste in the 4 corners 😂. You are so talented and brave. Love how you are willing to forge ahead to create fun layers! Hugs, Grenae

I watch a lot of TH-cam and I’ve come across you and love the way you do yours. I don’t like when they talk about there family when all I want is to know what their doing. I really like you finding something on Pinterest and work it out in your way.
