    For the front lights, I was struggling to put the reflector on after the LEDs. But if you put the reflector on first you can fit the LEDs in pretty easily

    Boom! Just installed mine. Got my mk6 Jetta 6 days ago and the LEDs from USP Motorsports work great NO GHOSTING yet. True test will be tonight! I wish I got the plastic tool though.

    No ghosting! Thanks Gregg at USP I followed your instructions. You made it look easy though. The fronts where the hardest to get at.

    I just did all interior and trunk lights on my 17 Jetta GLI including footwell lights. I just removed the lens covers to replace the Center front and center rear and nothing broke. All the other one's come out easy enough. You went the hard route.

    Thanks for the insightful video! Even though it took you like 10 minutes, my dad and I spent an hour and I ended up bending one of the map lights. Luckily the glove box LED worked but isn't the same shade. :-(

    Bought the kit and just installed. All went pretty smoothly except getting the new LED’s in the reading lights in the front cabin. Each one of those LED connection points are barely larger than the factory bulb making it a tad difficult to get the seated into the connection point. Other than that, this kit along with this video are great.

    I bought the full package & replaced all interior lights. Major improvement to the interior lighting! But. I have an extra 42mm festoon left over after all the replacements. Is that intentional?

    Love the in and out focus when you can only see the bulbs for half a second. Great camera skills. (sarcasm)

  • @burkettacb

    Ie. Doors closed the rear dome will be glowing slightly. If changed to the off position. The front dome lightly glow instead until switched to the off position. So it won't allow the doors open feature without the f or r domes being partially on

    I just purchased my kit. For a 2013 autobahn. What's the secondary festoon heated shielded looking led bulb for? I bought the entire package... Plus is it normal for the leds to be lightly illuminated in door mode.

    Very doable. But take your time. You are dealing with plastic. Do not recommend a flat head at all. Buy the right tools. You'll be happy you did. I have a 2013 Jetta tdi. Similar process to what is shown.

    Which fuse is broken?

    • @peterpc

      I can't remember. But I got a fuse tester with a LED in it so you can test the fuses without removing them. It was a fuse in the fuse compartiment beneath the stearing wheel.

    This cars dome and map lights are cancer. I broke both with proper tools and still didn't even get them done. Dealer is replacing everything now. 12 year old engineering with thin less than dollar store plastic quality. And this is on a 2016 mk6 with 1k miles.

    What you are experiencing is called "ghosting." This is NOT suppose to happen. I have the same issue and USP has yet to respond. There is a fix on vwvortex; Google search: mk6 jetta interior LED ghosting (Use the second link).

    The lights in the front middle do not fit, they are too big. They plug in and work, however you can't put the reflector back in. Expensive waste of money, I am very disappointed.

    • @ronj9933
      @ronj9933 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Loeser I slipped the reflector under the lights. Don’t ask me how, but you’re right, the LED map lights are too long

      Jeffrey Aristy
      I had that happen on mine.
      I used some foil tape in a hurry on the inside to hold it down, but some 3m weatherstrip adhesive would be better and I plan to use that next time I'm in there.

    • @mynameisjeaf
      @mynameisjeaf 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrTheHillfolk worddd ill use 3m tape to make it stick, why didnt i think of that, thanks.

    • @MrTheHillfolk
      @MrTheHillfolk 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeffrey Aristy no not the double sided tape, but the real foil tape they use for ducts now.
      That's what I'm using temporarily.
      The good stuff is 3m yellow weatherstrip adhesive.
      It's in a tube and resembles a thick contact cement.
      Be very careful with it, you might want to apply it with a small artists brush.
      I use this stuff everywhere, it even doubles as a blue locktite, or I've glued nuts into sockets for tight areas and a lot more. Heck I've even glued 2 pieces of aluminum roof flashing together with it ,overlapped a few inches for the glue joint.
      Read the directions, but basically apply it on 1 surface, it holds ok.
      But for some real strength apply it to both pieces and let dry and put together.
      Most auto parts stores carry it.
      Squirt it out on a coffee can lid and watch it, it can get stringy.
      Play with it on a few other items before tackling that delicate roof surround.
      Here's a link but you should be able to find it at most automotive box stores.
