In my country, there are several cash benefits for hospital checks, infant care, post-natal care for mums and so on but we don't get a baby box with gifts. I think it's a great idea but I don't think it would work in Korea just because people are too picky with what items and brands they want. Anyway, we have one of the lowest birth rate in the world so it's a huge problem here.
There are baby box schemes is various areas of the uk. It is to encourage underprivileged to attend for antenatal care (no attendance, no box). The evidence is there to support it, but unfortunately the uk health care system is reactive not preventative. As a maternity worker it is good to see in detail what is in it. Thank you, and best wishes.
Grama here in Alaska. Ive been wondering how you are doing, so nice to see this today. You are a beautiful pregnant lady, just don’t do too much. Allowing oneself to slow down is a gift. Enjoy your pregnancy. I cried just a little when you showed your baby kicking! New life is on the way!! Your knitting designs are fabulous. We are pretty cold right now, and wool is so warm and comforting. Thank you for your video.❤
Indeed! Take the time and rest now while you can. Life is about to get very busy and unpredictable. Love your work! I just finished my Cozy Cat Sweater---oh so cozy!!
In Poland we don't have such boxes for children, but in my family there is a tradition: relatives make the so-called layette. It contains things for the mother that will be useful for her and the baby in the hospital after delivery 24:52 Minus 26 degrees Celsius?! I live in Poland, last week we had a maximum of minus 21 degrees Celsius. Where I live, the temperature was -19 to -17 degrees for three days and there were already problems, e.g. public transport had huge delays. So I can't imagine waking up at six in the morning to go to university at minus 26 degrees. It's great that you recorded this vlog, I like watching your videos and sometimes I watch older ones because they make me feel better about knitting. Good health to you and baby, stay warm!
Hello, Kika, from a fellow Finland Swede! The baby box was originally a help from UNICEF during WW II that we thankfully kept. I slept in mine. Many greetings and lycka till! I was so inspired by the striped pullover you made of leftover yarn I made one myself and I love it!
In New Zealand you get a “pepi pod” which is also plastic tub that can be a baby bed which also comes with bedding, clothes and wraps. All maternity care pre- and post is free.
I heard about the maternity boxes ! The infantile death was so high that Finland decided to solve the problem at the root and actually give the parent what they need. Apparently you also have like places where you can leave the baby, warm and safe in the box, to be adopted if you can't/don't want to care for it. It's anonymous and no questions asked and it's to fight all the times people abandoned the babies in the cold where they'd die before they could be found ! It's super efficient system too ! I wish we had it in France...
This idea was introduced in Scotland recently. My latest wee niece got her Baby Box ( or her parents did) and they used everything in it as well as using it for baby to sleep in for first few months. Her big sister could colour in the design on the outer box. It's a wonder idea, I'm so glad it's been introduced here. X
The Baby Box is amazing! The beautiful quality of the contents is astounding! So glad you are realizing that you need to take time to get more rest even while you are so involved in your business.
Retired OB/gyn here. You look great!! Pregnancy brain is a thing. Take it easy on yourself. I think the pregnancy box is an amazing thing I wish my patients had had. Glad to see you again!
Dear Kika, it is so good to see you again, I really missed you the last couple of weeks. Yes, being sick during pregnancy is a pain that no woman needs and I am happy to see that you are well and smiling. Your work is wonderful and I always love to look through the pages of your book that I got for my birthday in April. It must be a lot of work to make everything possible and be at all those places- Take care and enjoy the times when it is a little quieter. :-)
Hi kika. It's so good to see you back. You know what I've realised lately. . I follow other knitters on you tube but no one inspire me more that you to knit. I just love your designs. I have to admit I consider myself more of a crocherier than a knitter but last year I knitted your salt lake sweater for my daughter( that she loves) and I found your pattern really easy to follow so I was really proud of myself that I finished it . I really want to do another pattern of yours and I want to do the salt jumper again for myself now. Blessings to you and your loved ones and happy new year.❤ from Malta
Pregnancy is EXHAUSTING. Good for others to know ;) I thought it was good training for having a newborn because, sweet Veronika, you don’t even know exhaustion until you’ve had a newborn! Be kind to yourself. ❤ And omg that blush colored cable sweater is AMAZING.
I loved your box of baby goodies. We don’t have that in Canada, but we do have free healthcare and one year maternity leave. Loved your episode. Best wishes as you head off on maternity leave, enjoy your time with your new babe-the time will precious!
As an american i would love to pay higher taxes to take care of others! (our country doesn't take care of others sadly!) ;( That package is so amazing! I am so excited for your family! KNIT ON!
SAMEEE. I can't stand how brainwashed most US Americans are when it comes to accepting hyper-individualism and then ppl wonder when we have loneliness issues, mental health problems, etc.
Your husband is such a patient and interesting man. I would love to take my husband to the yarn shop and show him all the colors and textures. But ..... So we farm together and that's good too
The sweater you are wearing on the thumbnail! Is it handmade? Can’t find it in your design, is it coming out soon? We need v neck aran sweaters like that one! Stay strong during the cold season ❤ - 30 degrees Celsius is just unimaginable!
It’s so fun to be pregnant along with you! I’ve been feeling a lot of the same things- sleeping lots, and all the heartburn. My knots have gone quite oversized as well, I’m working the Wishbone sweater right now!
So absolutely lovely seeing your baby box! We have them in Scotland here too, inspired by Finland I believe - they were introduced just a few months before my twins were born so we were some of the first families to be fortunate enough to receive them. It is such a wonderful thing!
I'm very impressed with the Finnish baby box, the box that turns into a bed is genius! In Australia, we get a bag full of goodies. Instead of snowsuit our babies get a sun hat and a first aid kit. The rest is pretty similar.
Hi Kika! It was so nice to meet you in Oslo ❤ In Poland we do have the same baby box! A friend of mine has a baby and I saw the box couple of years ago, everything was so sweet 😃😍
So good to be catching up on a backlog of your lovely, brilliantly made videos. You've such a talent for making wonderful content. I feel i very an insight into Finnish life each time I watch. My husband will sometimes watch with me too. We do enjoy them. I'm coming to this one some weeks late, but it's even more of a treat amto accompany my Sunday morning knitting, knowing I have a few to catch up on. Xxx
That is so wonderful. that your government gives you a box when you get pregnant! And how clever that even the box is a baby bed! I think this is a wonderful thing a government can do. Amazing! I wanted to say that you are one of the best pattern designers I've ever watched. Your sweaters are beautiful. And the joy you have when you knit is all over your face. You really love knitting. Soon, you will have the baby and you will probably slow down the knitting for a while, but that's okay. Enjoy this time. It is one of the most wonderful times in a life, having a baby. Congratulations to you both. Maybe by the next podcast you will have a new baby!
So happy to be seeing this video, Veronika. I must say that I was getting a bit worried for you not seeing you posting videos for a while. So glad your pregnancy is proceeding well, despite some hiccups. It's always very interesting seeing your beautiful projects and work. Keep going dear Kika! ❤ Chiara (Italy)
That is such a great idea to have a package like that!!! Especially the fact that baby could sleep in the box itself! That is actually all tiny ones need - simple bedding!
Hormones are all over the place when you are pregnant it’s not uncommon to feel overwhelmed and teary. Just Remember to look after Yourself put your feet up when you can! The Baby Box was Fabulous and so Beautiful. We don’t have that there in Australia 🇦🇺. Take Care x❤
OMG!I didn't know people like you existed! You are so talented. Take it easier. Your body is carrying two people now. Best wishes in 2024, and may your family be healthy and happy with the baby arriving soon.
I can’t wait for your lacy summer top tone I bought couple of your patterns I think you are the most creative knitter and you contraction of your pattern really blow my minds. Hope your summer Lacey to be ready for sale real soooooon❤
Oh my goodness! You’re so busy. I don’t know how you find the energy. So excited for you and Juki. You’ll be amazing parents. Love from Virginia in Us. 💕💕💕
Kika, Sending love, light and peace. take a breath… or two and just remember, all of the little things we worry or stress about in life really don’t matter in the big picture. Bought your book as a Christmas present to myself and it’s simply beautiful. As are you!
You are so talented and I really appreciate you - your videos are an absolute pleasure to watch. I hope you can be easy on yourself and show yourself some grace - having a baby is overwhelming but you are going to be a wonderful mom. Yes there will be hard days and mom guilt is real (ugh) but the journey is beautiful and amazing too! Thank you for all you do! 💕
Boxes for the coming babies are genius! Such a thoughtful and kind thing to do, especially for families that are not able to buy all those things for themselves❤ Now I'm wondering, how long is maternity leave there? And is there something similar for daddies too?
We in the UK get the same type of package . My daughter has just applied for her one as due her second baby in April ! Love watching your pregnancy journey !
a blessing for me when i was pregnant is i was pregnant during covid. i say its a blessing because no one touched me, and with everyone constantly cleaning i NEVER got sick! plus there was work from home. so many benefits for me at that time, and im grateful for it!
Hi there. So glad to see you're doing well. Be sure to take a breath and relax, you deserve it! Thanks again for all your lovely designs and tutorials. Much love from Oregon, USA.
Yes, bonnet is correct word and you say the 't' at the end 😊 And having matching ones with the baby would be so cool! And they are so much more useful than beanies in the coldest days, your ears won't be feeling like ice picks. Oh and Kika, I made 4 Marshmallow Beanies, one was kinda flop because I chose wrong yarn, but it will be remade into a cowl, but other 3, they're great. I made one for my mum but granny saw it and stole it before mum could even touch it, so I had to knit another and then I thought that I also deserve good wool beanie 😂 I have the yarn and pattern for Grandmacore Hood, I just need courage to make lace for the first time in my life. But the Cosy Coco looks so.. cosy. The best word for it! And the bow!
Wow you manage to keep so busy even with your energy going into growing the baby. You are so right UK 🇬🇧 Scottish 🏴 Bon net is how you say that for your beautiful bonnet! 🧢 ❤
Wow pregnancy really has added to your creative juices. I just love your new designs. I mean I love everything you do. But your new designs are very elegant. I can’t believe how much you have gotten done. Wow.
So happy to see this video! Happy 2024 to you from Michigan US. I look forward to your beanie patterns. Thank you love love your patterns and please more about the yarns you use. ❤
I watched this while finishing the ribbing on the sleeves of your cinema sweater pattern! It's my first sweater I have ever knit and I have really really enjoyed it! So easy to follow and I think the perfect beginner sweater knit! Good luck with your sweet new baby!
I am in England and help is extremely targeted to the most basic level so most people qualify for very little. Having said that atleast most healthcare is free at the point of delivery. lovely to see you again looking well
As someone else said, your videos make me feel warm -- even looking at all that snow! Do take care of yourself, forget about the patterns for a while, we can wait. I think right now we're all much more invested in you resting and having a gorgeous healthy baby. Hope you'll show him to us SOON! Hugs from Boston.
What a nice video! Thank you so much for sharing your life and knitting. It is good to hear your pregnancy is going well. No, here in America pregnant women do not get a "baby basket". In general, Americans hate paying taxes and try to reduce (or avoid) doing so at all costs. The general feeling of scarcity in America (the "not enough for me and too much for you" mentality) means that no one should get anything "for free" regardless of economic circumstance -- especially in today's political climate. I love your sweaters and wish I could knit them. Unfortunately, I have arthritis in my thumbs and have to be very selective on the crafts I choose to do. Still, I watch your channel because your work is beautiful! Thanks again!
great podcast, again. thanks for sharing. you look happy/glowing with pregnancy! just remember pregnancy is a full time job, some of your energy is constantly used for your baby, so beware of your own needs. and your darker hair gives you a more mature/ motherly look. I like it. we do not have baby-boxes in switzerland. your pattern are stunning and very fitting for the cold weather. I wish you and your family a healthy and funny new year… Take care 🧶🎉❤🇨🇭
😂 when you come out of the building with your package you were filming and very happy and smiling so beautifully , you left Juki to make his way through the door carrying that huge box without help. 😅 it was a funny innocent mistake.
What a great idea with the baby box❤. You look beautiful as usually with that lovely baby glow. Love all your knitted sweaters, such a talent. Take care, stay strong and keep knitting 🧶
I feel you soo much on loosing interest in writing and grading after knitting the sample. Knitting is the most fun part 😅🙈 As always a wonderful video! I wish i could have gone to the pickels shop too. They got me back into knitting many many years ago with their fun patterns.
Right? I’m hoping this workflow will help me tackle this struggle, I always end up being so behind on getting patterns released after I’ve knittef the sample 😅😂
Hi Kika, love your videos and your knits and your jewelery. Everytime I think your jewelery elevates your knits! Maybe you could show and how to style|elevate your knits with your jewelery 😃
Another wonderful video! I’m currently finishing up my cinema sweater and will be making your Darling Cardigan next. Also I have my yarn picked out for salty days sweater as well. I had bad acid reflux when I was pregnant. I highly recommend a sleeping wedge to lie on. It really helps. Motherhood is a magical journey full of ups and downs. Highs and lows. Enjoy every precious moment!
Never heard of a baby box! What a wonderful thing your country does.....No such thing in Canada🤨 but new parents under a certain income do get a CTB (child tax benefit) What a beautiful gift🎁
That bobblelicoius sweater is amazing!!! And I say, take all the relaxation time you need while you're pregnant! Your body is doing a ton of work to grow the baby even while you lay down and relax. Plus, once the baby comes, I don't think he is going to care if you have a few messy drawers in the house 🤣
Hello Kika, and warm greetings from Switzerland! I thank you for the beautiful energy and patterns that you always produce! I definitely admire the energy and enthusiasm you have doing all that you do and being pregnant at the same time. You live in a gorgeous part of the world and made yourself a sweet family. Your baby will be a lucky one :-). I wish you , Yuki, your baby and your wonderful cat a SPLENDID 2024.
What a great maternity box, it is just wonderful !!! We don't have that in Canada. I marvel at all you accomplish while also making a new being. Congratulations for all your work !
Hello! I have been looking forward to a new blog of yours on TH-cam. I have also bought your book just recently and really tempted to try a cardigan from it. Love your patterns. Aww I would say be kind to yourself and do as much as you can do ❤
I’m with you! Not pregnant but having “one of those days” or weeks if I’m honest😅 it’s cold here in BC, got to -10c and my pipes froze so I had to crawl around under he house to insulate and heat tape the pipes, and on top of it I caught a cold. No rest for the weary! The water is still frozen and it’s not supposed to warm up here until Thursday. I’m praying for warm rain😂. You’re videos are helping me to feel better ❤
Here in Belgium, we too receive a maternity box. 😊 Hey Kika, don’t worry if things take more time. If your body tells you to slow down, it’s a natural process before the baby arrives. I just finished my first cinema sweater and I love it so much! ❤ I can’t choose what to knit next, you have so many patterns. 🥰 So if you dissapear for a while, to be a new mom, I would miss you, but I’ll survive. 😄 Keep warm, keep healthy and all my love to you and your family.
Thank you for making so lovely and inspirational youtube episodes. Your knittingpatterns are so beautiful and although I diden't know how too knit bobbels and braids, you maid so good tutorials, so now I find so must happiness knitting new things from your book🥰(pardon my english🙃)
I’ve heard experts describe pregnancy as a “war” between the baby with its amazing placenta and the mom’s body. If you’re feeling frantic and discombobulated, that seems totally reasonable! All best wishes to you Kika, I’ll miss you while you’re getting into your new life, enjoy it as much as you can. ❤
great video like always thank you for sharing quick tip if you can afford to hire a cleaning lady or an assistant to get things done around the house so you can sit back and relax works great I also get overwhelmed and anxious and that tip always helps wind down 😍
Baby box? Waw, such a good idea! I felt that, after having my first baby, stuff that was very stressful before didn't stress me so much after. Having a baby brought me a sense of calm and I guess it change some of my priority. Also, for writing your pattern, maybe you could do something like 30 min a day of writing: maybe dividing it in small chuck could work for you and feel less overwhelming. 😊
Congratulations on your expected bundle of joy. ❤ Thank you for sharing all your wonderful work with us. It's great to see other countries and traditions. I live in Alaska, USA. I love the Cozy Coco hood. I think that would be a wonderful head covering in the cold weather and so pretty and stylish. Happy 2024! ❤
I had a similar reflux problem when i was pregnant with my kids. I have found that laying on my right side with a pillow in my back (to keep me in place) helps a lot. love listening to your Vlogs. Best wishes!
We moved to Finland last year and I have been checking all the yarn stores in your video and bought your book! I hope to see you someday in real life, probably won’t bother you but you are my local hero! Love your videos and your pregnancy journey (very real).
Kika..you are such an inspiration. And in spite of flu bugs, etc, you are still upbeat and smiling. Yes, I can attest to the 'baby brain' we women get when we are pregnant (and a little after) but I think it is nature's way of re-aligning our focus to baby mode. It is a transition from life before baby and life after baby comes. It is wonderful! Many congratulations to both you and Yuki in your family life and business enterprises. Greetings from Toronto, Canada
I was wondering how you were...hoping everything was alright. Nice to see you! Love the baby box! Your husband is so supportive and cute! Love your videos!!!❤

I really enjoy your vlogs ❤ it's like watching an episode on Netflix 🥰 I am also surprised your camera works without any problems at -26°C 😅💪 Best wishes from a fellow pregnant lady 😊

I would be completely willing to pay high taxes to live in such a considerate, civilized environment. Blessings to you, Kika!
I’m pretty certain if a conservative said something similar, they would be branded a racist.

When I get overwhelmed I do a list. The list at first may look frightening. But the satisfaction of crossing stuff off is worth it. Xx

Yes, it doesn't seem they have the homelessness we do in N America. (Canadian). And better drug rehab, support for single moms and the disabled etc.
You can pay more taxes if you want…just add an extra check in the envelope.😊
SAMEEE. I can't stand how brainwashed most US Americans are when it comes to accepting hyper-individualism and then ppl wonder when we have loneliness issues, mental health problems, etc.
Me too. It's heartbreaking to see all the people struggling. Especially the unhoused.
Love the white blouse you wear under the cardigan at the yarn market!
Wish you the best 💕

Scotland also gift a baby box to every new baby born here 🏴 Getting ready for a new arrival is so exciting. Enjoy every minute xx
Here for the long sleeve lace top when your feeling that summer inspiration!

I love that you are a West Wing fan, we binge the box sets every time we are short of some quality tv. Glad you are all ok and you are blossoming ❤
Having said that atleast most healthcare is free at the point of delivery. lovely to see you again looking well
You look so great and the bubble-sweater looks ❤❤❤ be calm and enjoy the last weeks of pregnacy. big hug
Happy tird trimester, don't forget to rest. That pink hat is so lovely!
The baby box!!! Love them so much.
Thank you for the podcat Kika 💞 I wish you all the best!!!!!!!!! 🤗😘
Un bonheur de regarder ton vlog aujourd'hui ❤ tu es superbe!
So lovely and snowy in Finland! Thanks so much for your lovely podcast.
great podcast, again. thanks for sharing.
you look happy/glowing with pregnancy! just remember pregnancy is a full time job, some of your energy is constantly used for your baby, so beware of your own needs. and your darker hair gives you a more mature/ motherly look. I like it. we do not have baby-boxes in switzerland.
your pattern are stunning and very fitting for the cold weather.
I wish you and your family a healthy and funny new year…
Take care 🧶🎉❤🇨🇭
Great package, such lovely things for your baby. It looks so beautiful and of course your talk went well! 😊
😂 when you come out of the building with your package you were filming and very happy and smiling so beautifully , you left Juki to make his way through the door carrying that huge box without help. 😅 it was a funny innocent mistake.
I’m so excited for you! Getting closer to having your baby is a great time to just relax and enjoy life. ❤
I’ve been wondering about that stitches sweater! I cannot wait to knit it 😍
What a great idea with the baby box❤. You look beautiful as usually with that lovely baby glow. Love all your knitted sweaters, such a talent. Take care, stay strong and keep knitting 🧶
I feel you soo much on loosing interest in writing and grading after knitting the sample. Knitting is the most fun part 😅🙈
As always a wonderful video! I wish i could have gone to the pickels shop too. They got me back into knitting many many years ago with their fun patterns.
Right? I’m hoping this workflow will help me tackle this struggle, I always end up being so behind on getting patterns released after I’ve knittef the sample 😅😂
Watching this while knitting your Cinema Sweater. ☺️✨️💕
Hi Kika, love your videos and your knits and your jewelery. Everytime I think your jewelery elevates your knits! Maybe you could show and how to style|elevate your knits with your jewelery 😃
Great idea and thank you so much 😀😀
Another wonderful video!
Thank you for sharing so much of your journey with all of us✨
Be kind & gentle with yourself xx
Aww I would say be kind to yourself and do as much as you can do ❤
Love your projects. Keep well and don’t stress so much. Everything will fall into place.
Omg. The baby box! How wonderful is that? We pay lots of taxes in Australia too but no baby boxes….
You look lovely. Just embrace it all. The only regrets I have as im older is not embracing every part of the pregnancy the good and bad. ❤
great video like always thank you for sharing quick tip if you can afford to hire a cleaning lady or an assistant to get things done around the house so you can sit back and relax works great I also get overwhelmed and anxious and that tip always helps wind down 😍
Those boxes are great, so useful. Babies take up a lot of space. Hormones are great aren't they.
"Baby" Vigo looks so comfortable in the crib.
I really enjoy your vlogs ❤ it's like watching an episode on Netflix 🥰
I am also surprised your camera works without any problems at -26°C 😅💪
Best wishes from a fellow pregnant lady 😊
That is over the top amazing. USA would never do that. So happy to follow your journey with you and your husband
That bobbleicious sweater is looking super cute! Love and blessings from Montana.
Beautiful video, thank you! So glad you’re doing well.
In Moscow and in the north of the country, we are also given such baby boxes. We have a very good healthcare system, especially in large cities
