Have been listening to that 3:24 Lari solo on repeat. Haven't been as blown away by a guitar player since first seeing Josh Smith. The fluidity and phrasing, the inventiveness. So much control and storytelling. So much groove. Just gorgeous to listen to.

Lari’s solo was a little piece of genius. Inventive, beautifully played, and some conventional ideas played with unique touches I’ve not heard before - those staccato double-stops at 3:50 for example. So much material I need to steal!

While the Martin Miller channel may not release videos as frequently as other cover bands, this channel more than makes up for the infrequency of content uploads by the sheer quality of the music they produce. The Martin Miller ensemble just creates musical content that demonstrates vocal and instrumental excellence that is unrivaled on the TH-cam platform. Quality takes time, and this cover of Layla, being the best cover I have heard of this Eric Clapton classic, is indicative of this superlative quality. That is the best rendition of Eric Clapton's hit song Layla. I especially love the combining of both the original version with the slower acoustic version. I have always wanted to combine these two great versions of Layla into one complete song. You guys did it. My hat is off to you. All i can say is: Bravo! Bravo! Encore! Encore!

The best......aside from literally all the others ever.
There were good moments in this version but just listen to the Tedeschi Trucks Band with Trey Anastasio live at Lock'n version. Then you'll know at least one version better than this. I'm surprised no one from Martins band played slide at all.
@@GraniteSoundtrack yeah the tedeschi one is the definitive cover, the coda in that is just bliss. But this is a worthy second only to that being perfection!

Dear kx8yw8hg7q,😀 same here. Her bending technique is fantastic. I play awful, but can hear tricky moments. She does it when she bends. Very similar to Robben Ford....there is some added moment, don't know what.
And, completely agree with you: The lady is much, much more interesting than "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" guitarists. hahaha, a million of shredders all around of solar system.

My guess is most of y'all weren't even born when Layla was first released. And myself as a Young musician when it was first released have always been a very big fan of Eric Clapton and Duane Allman. I got to hand it to you guys, this is probably one of the best remake Renditions I have ever heard. Thank you. It does my old retired musician heart good to hear people take a song like this make it their own and maybe even better in some respects. Damn, I just checked the ages of some of you guys. I'm old enough to be all of y'all's Daddy!

I loved this performance! I'm so glad Lari hooked up with Martin during her tour. What an incredible collection of musicians. Lari, your solo was fantastic! True to the song yet distinctively in your style. Martin and Nico played killer solos as well and the whole band was so tight and perfect. Wow, one for the history books.
Lari has her own unique sound, the dream of every guitar player, her sound is so fresh and unique.
Lari is doing things on the guitar, demonstrating she is at a much higher skill level than any of the other guitarists in the session.

I'm 54 years old and have been playing the guitar for well over 40 years. Just when I think I have heard every interpretation of an iconic song, Martin Miller and crew brings something incredible to the table. I never imagined some of those notes could be applied to these songs. And thank you Ben Jud for the vocals and rocking bass! *Edit - I wish Lari had more solo time in this :).
