I did this by myself, step by step with laptop in the trunk and this video and all went well. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be thanks to this awesome video. Great job!!!!
Good video. Very complex install, lots of potential for ending up with a hitch on a non functional vehicle :). UPDATE 6/9/2023. On Monday of this week I installed a draw tite hitch on my X3 following most of the instructions on this video. Really wasn’t as bad as I expected aside from a couple problems with removing and reinstalling those poly rivets around the wheel wells.
Yes, I’ve also discovered that and I might just setup an appointment with one of your locations. I’ve had U-Haul install hitches before on our Volvo XC-60 and Honda CR-V and they did a fine job. Not sure if it’s inflation or the labor intensive nature of the install on the X3 (perhaps it’s both) but my local UHaul is quoting $412 for the install. I’m retired and have oodles of time and most of the tools needed so was just hoping to save a few bucks and do it myself.
Does uhaul NOT install this hitch any longer the uhaul website only shows the stealth hitch. The entire package with hitch, install amd wiring is 2000 dollars.
Unfortunately, this hitch and video will not apply to a 2020 X 3M and we don't currently have a video. You can visit UhaulHitches.com to find a hitch that will fit your vehicle.
I applaud how thorough. I now know I don’t want to do this myself. So many parts. Thank you for the video ❤

Unfortunately it has been discontinued. Stealth brand is the only Hitch we offer for this vehicle.
Things that can go wrong
Let me count the ways
I purchased a hitch online, will Uhaul install?
Of Course we will!
Will this be the same installation for 2017 X3 model? Thanks
No, the 2017 model uses a different hitch and we do not have a video for it. However, you can purchase one here - Uhaulhitches.com
How about trailer lights wiring connector?😅
We cover the installation of a universal wiring harness for this vehicle in another video - See here: th-cam.com/video/POVs4Y1MOlE/w-d-xo.html
Does this same apply on a 2020 X3M competition too?
Unfortunately, this hitch and video will not apply to a 2020 X 3M and we don't currently have a video. You can visit UhaulHitches.com to find a hitch that will fit your vehicle.
Nope the more I watched this the less I wanted to do it
