One Way to Start an Abstract Painting / Art with Adele

  • ONE WAY TO START AN ABSTRACT PAINTING / How to start an abstract painting when you have absolutely no idea what to do can be a challenge….so I came up with ten ways to help you get started.
    You can get the pdf of the “10 Ways to Begin an Abstract Painting” below.
    On a 12x12” watercolor paper, I just fill the paper randomly with dots using a China marker, but you could use any pencil.
    Then, using both oil pastels and paint, I create shapes guided by those dots.
    This exercise could lead right away to a finished painting OR it could be a beginning first layer that you could finish with multiple layers.

    This is amazing, how freeing, what is the whitish stuff to the bottom right hand corner of the paint set up? I doesn't look like paint. Is it glue?

    Very interesting and inspiring video !!! What are those whitish blobs on the colors ....that you also have some on the bottom of the pallete separately ?? Curious to know !!

      Those are dots of acrylic gloss medium. I add medium to all my paints.

      it looks like regular painters tape from hardware store. i learned a trick - blow tape with a hairdryer to loosen adhesive before removing. works pretty well!
