I've been crocheting for 55 years but have never tried this stitch. Your tutorial gave me the confidence to try out those "odd-ball" knit/crochet hooks I picked up at a rummage sale. Can't wait!
Broke my ankle and couldn't walk or drive so decided to learn how to crochet. TRIED most ALL of the EZ crochet videos and ready to GIVE UP...until I noticed TUNISIAN crochet. I visited Tunis many times so was curious. SO glad I did! This is absolutely the BEST and easiest tutorial I have seen. I am a visual learner and this was perfect for me. THANK YOU for taking time to help people learn and to feel successful. I plan to learn more stitches thanks to YOU! I plan on making gifts for family and friends since I'm feeling so confident I can do this. LOVE the afghan needle too.
Hi! I'm sorry to hear about your ankle, I hope you're feeling better soon :) We're so glad to know you've enjoyed our tutorial! Thank you for watching :)
Love watching your videos !!!! You taught me so much ! I went an bought Knitting needles also I want to learn it all. Your the best teacher on You Tube in my option, I don't look for anyone but you, I recamend you to everyone I can.. Keep crafty,, thank you again'
Your the best teacher, I left Facebook to take up crocheting as a hobby and have converted friends too, and your their teacher too , much love and thank you so much , I am now fighting for a crochet corner in my house lol
Hi Andrea! Thank you so much for watching :) I had so much yarn, I had to take over a room LOL This is the year I do my best to bust through the stash!
The best teacher, full of fun and enthusiasm and I have watched loads. Seriously this is the one that will teach you , stop looking, you have finally found a brilliant tutorial
I have had Afghan hooks for two years and thank goodness I saw this video. Now I can make some clothes and aren’t afraid of making them. THANKS SO MUCH!!!❤❤❤❤
Love this stitch. This is my go to pattern for making dish clothes. I've tried others but this holds up the best and does the best job in cleaning. Thank you for going slow and actually showing where to put your hook. Your videos are just great!
I have loved every one of your tutorials! You make everything so easy! I always search what I'm looking for on TH-cam and add your channel to the end. You always have had the best tutorial for everything I've wanted to make! Thank you!! I made this dishcloth yesterday and love it!!
Loved this tutorial! I drove straight to Hobby Lobby, bought the Tunisian hook & yarn and made myself a beautiful dish cloth. It was so easy…and so fun! Going to do a matching dish towel next. I appreciate your instruction, Jayda, and will look for more tutorials using this fun new (new -to-me) hook!
you make it so easy and I learn quickly from your lovely videos. I do so love your laughter and bubbly spirit May God Bless You and hope nothing and no one snatches your smile from you.Amen
Hi Marian, it's helpful to know there are different techniques out there we can try to help alleviate the various pains we have in our hands :) Thank you for watching!
I'm using a 5.5 long handled skinny wooden hook and I'm almost done with a wash cloth. You are amazing :) I just love how you explain and make things fun Jayda
Hi Jenny! Thank you for watching :) I totally fell in love with this stitch when I first learned it - it has so many great applications! And frankly, I love using the long hook!
My mom makes two panels with this stitch and sews them together and adds a border and it makes a VERY sturdy and safe pot holder. We've been using the set she made for a good 4 years now and they are still looking great and holding up well.
What a fabulous tutorial. Thank you so much. So quick and easy. I have made several already to put in my Christmas stockings. I used a ordinary crochet hook but was so impressed with this stitch I ordered the bigger Tunsian needles.
@jaydainstitches. Thank you SO much. I used a regular crochet hook and it still came out FABULOUS! I love your tutorials. Enjoyed!! Made probably hundreds!😂👌🏽 love it!
Just made one of these myself in about two hours. I'm a slow stitcher. But it's done! I'm going to be using this as a wash cloth instead of a dish cloth. Im going to make tons of these lol. Thanks for the pattern and the tutorial. Really easy to follow
I saw your tutorial, and loved it! I bought a set of the long tunisian crochet hooks, and I also bought a few double-ended crochet hooks so I can learn to do the tunisian stitch in the round. Thanks!
I love this new stich! I bought a pack of Tunisian crochet hooks from eBay very cheap! I'm making a Gryffindor scarf from it! Thanks for these tutorials!
I knit myself a Gryffindor scarf for opening night of the Philosopher's Stone :) LOL It's crazy long and I still wear it! They take a while but they are a SUPER way to practice a stitch!
Thank you for this video! Tunisian Crochet seemed so terrifying to me but this video got me going. I frogged my swatch about 10 times, but I think I have it down. I'd love to see some tutorials on other kinds of tunisian crochet stitches!
Was looking for something to try while I’m between crochet projects. Just got a Tunisian hook with Crochet Now so gave this a go. Great fun! (Just ordered myself a set of Tunisian hooks!)
I have a crochet block at the moment, not one thing i do works at the moment but i am doing this Tunisian stitch and its working ( i hope) thank you ..Kimx☺
Ah the old "block" hits all of us once in a while! When that happens to me, I just drop everything and work up something familiar, like a granny square, until I feel my 'cro-jo' is back ;)
Hi Jayda, not even the Tunisian worked , but as you said the granny square did...Snowed outside , even to icy to walk the dog right now, roll on Friday.. see you then .Kim
ok... you made me a believer...if I am going to do Tunisian, I need that Afghan hook...... but in the meantime, I found a fix for the regular hook. You know those extra rubber earbud covers you get when you buy a set of earbuds? They make great stoppers on the end of a regular hook...otherwise I would not have had 7 false starts on this sampler.... whew!!! Got plenty of practice in restarting!
i am making Tunisian dishcloth for the first time!! thanks for this tutorial...very well explained and to the point detailed!! you make it soo easy to follow!! thanks so much!!
I first tried crocheting several years ago. I bought one of those how to books and it came with a starter set of hooks. The book wasnt a very successful teaching tool and I gave up and put it away. Brought the hooks out and hit up youtube last summer. I had this super long hook (which I now know is an Afghan hook after viewing this video). Thanks for the lesson on what this hook is for :)
Hi Jayda! Your video tutorials are superb! You explain and show everything so clearly. Your videos are the best. I'm new to Tunisian crochet and find I really enjoy it. Your dishcloth TSS video was great to follow and I was wondering if you have Other video tutorials on any other Tunisian stitches. I would love to do more dishcloths with different stitches and it would be awesome to follow Your instructions! Thanks again for all your hard work and effort you put into these videos so we can enjoy new things!! 😊
This might be be the style for me. I like both crochet and knitting. I dont like having to turn my work in crochet and fighting with straight edges. This could be the right style. I am getting a hook today and going to give this a try. Plus it seems to go pretty quick.
hello Jayda. Thank you for this tutorial. I have wanted to do a tunisian blanket for ages but goodness me this is a tricky devil lol! On my 4th attempt as I kept making triangles!! and now I have mastered the ends properly I am making a super curly thing lol! I hope I master this before my hands fall off, I seem to be only able to complete a row if i hold the end of the hook?! But I knew if anyone could teach me it would be you. Love your tutorials, thank you for being soooo patient and taking time to explain things properly. XXXXX
Hi! Don't worry about the curling, this particular stitch does that, you'll want to block it to get it to lie flat (or just start using it LOL). Using an afghan hook definitely requires a change in your hook handling, and you might find that you move your grip around on it depending on what part of the pattern you're in :)
Jayda InStitches thank you, it is good to know I am being "normal" for a change haha! As my hand is going up and down all over the place. I have almost finished my little blanket and will us the border to finish it off. It a lovely pattern. Dare I ask ( cus I'm not sure if I could cope lol!). if you could consider another stitch with Tunisia that isn't too complicated, Thank you again. TC xxx
Jayda, I've never had much success in posting. But I want you to know that I've made this potholder using a size 4G tunisian crochet hook! The stitch is easy. The only problem I've had is the awkwardness in holding such a long hook. I guess that will get better with time. Thank you for your tutorial! It was very helpful!😊
Hi Barbara, we're so glad to hear you've had luck with this stitch! I agree, getting used to the longer hook takes a little time, but it does get easier with use :)
Hi Jayda! I made one dishcloth so far and really love the way this stitch looks. I'm looking forward to more Tunisian Crochet tutorials from you. 😊 I've also got a triangle granny bunting in progress from last week. I made a Pom Pom bunny too. 🐰 Hopefully, I'll get some pics taken and posted soon. Have a great weekend!
Hi Becky! :) I hope you guys had the amazing weather that we did this past weekend!! I can't wait to see your pictures :) You're going to find yourself addicted to the Tunisian stitch LOL, wielding the long crochet hook makes you feel like a wizard LOL
