  • Fishing Mornington Peninsula. Fishing Mad venture up to the Mornington Peninsula where they fish for squid, snapper, flathead on the bay in the kayaks and on Flinders pier. The conditions get bad and the guys are forced to cut there camping weekend away short, but still got some great footage for your viewing pleasure.

    Lived down at Dromana and McCrae from 2011 to 2015. Access to both bays, (Both very different bays!) and heaps and heaps of beaches, rock platforms and walls and piers. Beautiful part of the world and looking forward to moving back there next year hopefully. Great video mate.

      Yeah its an awesome destination with so many good fishing locations. I really need to head back out there soon I have a few trips on my to do list out there such as Mt Martha, Sorrento, Flinders, Phillip Island and much more. Those who live locally have some great fishing options on their door step. Its a great place to live.

      That's interesting because I have never heard of fishbrain and certainly never given them permission to use any of my content. Do you have an example you can send me, if so please send to reports@fishingmad.com.au or send us a link. Thanks in advance.

    Alan whats the best wind for drift fishing on the yak? Ideally you want horizontal to the shore? Is that the main factor which causes drift? Or is it the tides?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly when your drifting it doesn't matter. The point of drifting is covering ground which you dont do when your anchored. Therefore drifting in any direction is fine. Dont worry to much about directions and tides just cover ground. Generally fish fire up 2 hours each side of peak tide, but i have had many occasions where i didn't bother looking at the tides and caught many fish.

    You should try multispeacies

    Would you know anywhere to buy a replacement propeller the same as yours in Melbourne?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to get all of my native watercraft parts from capacity sports in Moorabin, I sold my Native a few years ago so im assuming they would still be a good option. Also try freak sports website and see if they can help. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of native distributors

      Yes, Flinders pier. It shows the Flinders pier sign just before we fished there. A great spot for Squid, Trevally and all sorts

    Im looking to catch my first flatty or snapper any spot recommendations around 15 minutes away from Melbourne already tried the warmies

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So many good spots to try. I have spent countless hours creating the following webpage to help locals around Melbourne find good places to fish www.fishingmad.com.au/locations.html check it out. I hope this guide helps you get onto a few. Have a look at my other videos eg I posted one this week where i caught 7 nice size flathead in an hour from Altona. Other recommendations such as Port Melbourne is a great place to start, laggoon pier, under the west gate bridge on lorimar street, web dock etc are great spots to target flathead and snapper landbased.

      fishingmad thanks mate ill gives it a try btw i looked at the website it actually had my local lake spavin lake have you ever fished there if you haven't we should meet up some fay

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your very welcome. Spavin creek can fish well. I have caught both trout and redfin in there. Nothing massive but caught both on lures and scrub worms. Been ages since I fished there, I believe they stock it with trout over school holiday periods. ill have to venture back up there at some stage soon, and will let you know

    How ,any squids did u get on the kayak

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul only managed a few squid that day. The winds and particularly the strong tidal flow made it very challenging for kayak fishing. Feel free to have a look at some of my other recent squid kayak fishing videos that have been a little more productive th-cam.com/video/chVK0FVAkNQ/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/uLtNIpE4b4o/w-d-xo.html cheers

    Are you driffting on the kayak

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i drift the majority of the time, allows you to cover ground. Only tend to anchor up on the yak if I'm targeting snapper
