- The more you look at Yugioh cards, the more you notice how often monsters reappear. Sometimes it doesn’t always creative a full story, but rather, a bunch of mini storylines that give us more insight on a character. Who knows? Maybe we’ll discover a bigger story behind all the smaller plotlines that the cards tell us. It’s time of the 5th installment of Yugioh monster backstories!

I think Underdog is a situation of "I'm telling my brother you beat me up," based on how Behemoth is pointing, and Alpha is just like "Really, these guys did all that to you???"
That's a good theory! I definitely could see that and would like that as a twist to the story
I honestly believe this its what i see in the cards context especially the guys in the corner like pouting of concern and Alphas surprised face being like “ really!? “ with the ❓.

Funny enough there is actually a story going on as well as a meta story. Behmoth joins the game as a strong monster card, so Konami use him as the 'warf' for their spells and traps, to basically show how powerful these cards are by making 'weak monsters' defeat Behmoth, but this also sort of lends to a story where Behmoth is just getting the snot kicked out of him, so in the final card he is cowering behind the new beat stick monster and pointing out his tiny attackers as the new monster stands in confusion.
Honestly Behemoth getting beaten up by a bunny is the funniest thing ever.

Before that, Behemoth got his snout punched by -Kangaroo Champ- Des Kangaroo, as well as got his gut punched by Super-Nimble Mega Hamster. Both had lower ATK than him.

I feel the vibe that Ojama Yellow gives off the most, especially during the Ojama Slumber Party when he has the tea. Also, I wasn't expecting the Ojamas to take such a dark turn! They were so non-tragic in GX!

Wow, never knew how much of a literal punching bag Behemoth is. It’s like the only purpose for his appearance and monarch title is making every other Beast monster look cool in comparison. I kinda feel sorry for it. Thanks for another great Yugioh countdown, MrTopTenList!

Goblin Kid's cards are literally his villain origin story, how many times do you think he will get dissapointed before he finally snaps.
He looks a bit like a Namekian, so maybe he grew up to be King Piccolo

You think that Goblin Calligrapher giving a note with "FALSE" on it to the sad goblin kid is meant to be malevolent or mischievous? Goblin Calligrapher dedicated his life to writing "FALSE". In his view the note with "FALSE" on it is probably a beautiful piece of art, likely one of his few most prized possessions. I think that he was just doing his best to make the goblin kid happy by giving his best art to him. Unfortunately, it seems to have failed due to the kid's lack of apprehension of fine art.

I think Divine Wrath is probably a reference to Cannon Soldier being forbidden on the OCG banlist because of his FTK potential that people abused for a while. Also another great video Mr TopTenList, love your content
ETA : Someone in this reply thread made me aware that Cannon Solider was banned after the release of Divine Wrath so my theory is entirely wrong, but i thought I'd leave it up for reference just in case
@@zero1zerolast393 back in 2010 they released Substitoad (that could tribute a monster on your side of the field to summon 1 "Frog" monster from the deck) and Ronintoadin (that could banish a "Frog" from the graveyard to Special Summon itself when it's sent there), essentially creating a loop where, if you had enough "Frog" monsters in your graveyard, you could repeatedly revive Ronintoadin. What people would do is either play Cannon Solider or Mass Driver (a Spell card with a similar effect where you can tribute a monster on your side of the field to deal 400 damage) and then use Substitoad to dump frogs in the graveyard while continually reviving Ronintoadin so they could keep burning for 400. It was arguably the simplest FTK ever devised, especially in an era where hand traps didn't exist so if you went first it was a guaranteed win, and got Substitoad and Mass Driver banned in both formats but Cannon Solider banned only in the OCG.

@@flamingrubys11 it's more like, the original version and also includes other Asian countries like Korea and China. Some rules and cards differ slightly, the products and banlist both differ immensely though but it is the same base game for the most part
Aside from being a punch, I think Lucky Punch is a reference to how Rabbits actually do occasionally *accidentally* knock out their pursuers with their kicks while they are running away
Lucky punch is an item in Pokémon games so maybe it’s just a nod to copying them or vice versa

I think "Underdog" shows Behemoth going to Alpha to say that Hamster and Rabbit best him up (by the fact that he is pointing at them). OR that he sees them and is having a “Eeep!” Moment, and Alpha doesn’t understand why.

I imagine ojama red and blue actually being a team rocket-esque antagonistic/comedic force that constantly bother the main trio and try to one-up them.
maybe the false goblin tried to cheer up the young sad goblin after he failed to catch a fish, that's why he gives him a false write that he mastered. He seems to be smiling as an encouragment

There are enough characters and lore in the card game to make several spin-off shows, I mean, they could even make a collab with Kyoto Animation to feature the Dragon Maids in the Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, even the creator of the manga gave his approval.

I'd love to see the Yugioh Dragonmaids get their own show as well. Because I actually do like their designs more than I do the ones from Kobayashi's.

Divine Wrath is what happens when a cannon that uses a cannon refuses to be canonized. I'm pretty sure that's canon.
The Ojamas In my opinion may be oddballs but sure got wacky stories to tell that warms my heart!

I don't think it was the Goblin Attack Force that blew up Goblin Calligrapher. It might be that he saw that they were about to be wiped out, and he nobly sacrificed himself in an attempt to warn them. Either that or the goblins got lined up to be executed and Calligrapher was first in line. Given how depressed they look, that might be the case.
its a reference to the original false trap card effect, he got blown up instead of the attack goblin force.

Same here up until a few days ago. I was editing the segment and noticed all the skulls and had to change the whole segment since I legitimately thought the Ojamas just had some random stories rather than an actual backstory

I have a few copies of Covering Fire, so it's cool to infer the Cannon Soldier storyline. That's before people seemed to realize what a truly busted card it can be.
Also, a lot of these Harpy cards are new to me. cool art on them!
We need a Yu Gi Oh episodic show who focus on the monsters backstory, some can have arcs spanning multiple episodes depending on their backstory and we can have recurring characters like the ojamas, the skull servant family or the goblins.

I enjoyed a lot of "Yu-Gi-Oh" back in the Day, so even Card Games can actually have pretty great Backstories.
Some of the yugioh cards have interesting storytelling especially the backstory
The World Chalice archetype would make for an epic RPG or anime.
you missed out on some details:
Don Zaloog and the Dark Scorpions banded together while everyone and everything at the Goblin village was slowly falling under the influence of the Counterfeit Pot of Greeds, and for the record the Dark Scorpions were never "Killed" but rather were transported to the Human World by Kagemaru where the Dark Scorpions continued their thieving heists until Don Zaloog sacrificed his freedom to allow his Dark Scorpion brethren to escape and then learned the truth about the Human World from Kagemaru in Prison, since the Dark Scorpions were part of the Duel Terminal World, Dark Scorpions would all eventually all turn into cards if they don't return to the Duel Terminal Terminal World pronto, but then Kagemaru offered a deal to Zaloog, in exchange for loyalty as Shadow Riders, Kagemaru can keep Don Zaloog and the Dark Scorpions in summoned form with the Eyepatch Shadow Charm.
The Ojamas are based on the old slapstick comedy show "The 3 Stooges" each of the genuine Ojama cards are mostly based on scenes from each of the episodes.
For Number 8, in an alternate Artwork for Raigeki: The Slifer - Osisris of Heavenly Dragon (Slifer the Sky Dragon) is shows using Thunder Force attack in the card art, so Raigeki is simply Osiris attacking, wiping out the opponent's field and granting a taste of their in-lore divine power
Love these videos. You know Shiranui and Mayakazi are essentially a love story between Samurai and Yokai. That should definitely feature on the next video
I've had that on my list for awhile to cover ever since I saw the "Ghost meets Girl" card, so it seems like a likely candidate!
You forgot to tell the story of Ojama Lime. Like when he went to Geartown or met Solemn Johnson or all the times he left his septic tank. That could be it's on whole video!

The kid on the celebration cards did in fact have his life brighten up at the end. He became a happy toy salesman and enjoys it, and still wears the scrap kong shirt.
I'm pretty sure the green goblin in the Floodgate Trap Hole is one of the Token Goblins. Maybe he tried to eat a Mokey Mokey thinking it was a token - but ended up incurring it's wrath? Mokey Mokey Smackdown is no joke

I noticed on underdog behemoth is actually pointing at the two smaller creatures possibly saying look what they did to me while the other monster is extremely confused that small creatures could do that
And then he probably laughs at Behemoth for being a big wuss. 🤣

Glad you love them all! I love making videos with my friends, so I'm happy to see others miss them when we don't get a chance to record. I do the backstory videos when my friends aren't available to record since they're something I can talk about solo. We did a recording session recently, so they'll be showing up again in the next Yugioh video.

Non-Spellcasting Area is one of my favorite card arts. It literally depicts the card's effect by having the Goblin Attack force being pulled into Dark Hole, while Gemini Elf stands there unaffected. I love it.

I like to believe that poor kid from the Festival Goblins got so fed up that he unleashed all his rage and took over the goblin world to become Goblin King.
As for the Harpies, we used to have Harpie's Brother (later renamed Sky Scout)... so maybe he's a guy who wanted to be like the harpies... and Swift Birdman Joe, who is definitely a male harpie, but I'd say he looks like a harpie who went out into the world to become a rockstar, given his card artwork.

I always thought Cannon Soldier was a post-Robocop-backstory version of Shadow Ghoul. Not sure how, since iir the shadow ghoul has a steady job haunting Labyrinth Wall

I can just imagine whenever there is a duel going on and Behemoth goes up against des kangaroo, rescue rabbit or the other monsters that that messed with him aside from alpha since he's got 3k attack. He'll probably not only kill them but continue to beat on their corpse out of sheer salt.
