Excellent video. Loved to see and hear about the gear and your process. Well done on your catches. That one rainbow was a tank. Very nice fish. Enjoy your roast. That looked really good! Take care and have a Merry Christmas.
You're animal LOAH! That hike in and out of Cleveland is a beast and you did it twice! Nice fish. Thanks for the reports. That brisket was looking good.
To be fair, I used other peoples' tracks both times, but it still got my heart pumping! I'm just glad it's next to the hwy, as opposed to some of the places I'd be willing to hike to.
I commented on your previous video at Huntington and actually went there Saturday with the crowd. Slooooooowwww day! Same for everybody else I talked to as well. Tried a bunch of different baits but they were super picky. Used a jacker and a tip up too. Finally caught a splake on a meal worm. The most I heard anyone else catch was 2 fish. Saw 'em swimming past on the camera but they just weren't interested in what I was trying to feed them. Good days, slow days, but really any day outdoors and on the ice is a good day. Hopefully Strawberry freezes soon so I don't have to drive so far away, and because I never get skunked there. Thanks for your videos!
Just a suggestion: Get a spud bar. Obviously using a auger is best but with a spud you can check ice thickness on the run "safety first" and open holes with ease. The hatchet game sucks for sure LOL
@Icefisherman77 I hear you, and have used the spud bar before. Hatchets are great for up to about 5", and when you hack out the outline of the hole first, you can avoid too much splashing once broken through. I do like having a spud bar handy if I don't have to walk a distance to the ice, but that's just another thing to carry if there's any amount of trekking to get there.
I have never had a chance to ice fish, but after watching guys like Stacy Salmans and Steve from Packsalot, I do want to try it. Great break down of how you get it done. New subb to the channel, from NJ.
We never get snow here, rarely get weather enough to freeze. But dang, your last few videos make me want to try ice fishing. Great content. looking forward to these all winter!
The brisket was quite nice (along with some smoked cream cheese). The fish are usually just filleted and fried, but I have a few ways I like to prep them when I have the time and feel like it. If I smoke fish, it's usually like an oven roast while I have something else on the smoker. A main event while the fish would be an extra. Love smoking meats! If you follow my IG, I put up a post about the brisket today.👍
This video was from yesterday, Dec 16. The plows have pushed the snow, and the remaining banks are preventing parking at the dam access point. The overlook area, just up the hill, has space to park.
Two of my favorite lakes growing up. Will be there for ice off this spring.
Nice, I fished that very spot last summer.
You caught some chunks 👍
That rainbow at 9:29 was a beast. Looked like a beautiful day.

Nice work on the video! I need to catch up on more of them. We need to find a time to get out this winter.
Definitely!

I love how you have a great day without needing a ton of fancy gear.
Having an auger this year feels fancy enough! 😆 I normally use a hatchet until the ice is too thick.

Welcome! I try to get out about once a week when I can and upload quickly, so be sure to stay tuned.
Ice fishing is on my bucket list, and after watching this I really want to go.
Looking forward to the next one. Subbed! 😎
Awesome! Thank you!

Thanks! I'll see how long I can persist. Once the ice gets too thick, I usually stop ice fishing. I do prefer floating and casting.
Nice work my man‼️Healthy Bows 👍
I was wondering about Cleveland. I tried last year and just got my snowmobile stuck. A friend told me there were big cutts in 2 ft on the east end.
Looks like you got into them! How was the brisket? looked yummy! did you smoke the trout as well? i want to try that someday.

I saw you yesterday. I talked to you as you were leaving.
Nice! I went back after checking E-Lake and actually saw you leave while I tried for a cutthroat. Never happened.
Dude it's a buffet down there lol
Just curious. How do you measure water depth without a flasher or fish finder?
I use my height and drop my jig down in body lengths.
How thick was the ice
Back when this video was posted, it was around 10".
How was the meat on the big male?
Glad you asked! I gambled on it, since it was a triploid, but I won! The meat was great!
Had it been a fertile bow, I wouldn't have considered it.
Do you think you’d be able to make it to the electric lake dam now?
