I have fished the Mississippi the past 2 years and have never used my locator. We fish 5 ft of water. I would also switch to a little bit bigger profile bait. i.e. spoons, bigger jigs, fat raps, jigging raps. I literally let my bait hit bottom, reel up a couple cranks snap it once or twice and wait for them to clobber it. Mississippi is a blast!
I love it, I can't believe you have ice. I just went in a 10 day hunting trip, Nov 2nd to 12th. one day, it snowed an inch. and the rest of the days it was 38 to 44 degrees. and it's still above freezing here in Alberta. except last night was cold. got a moose 🫎 and 3 deer I'm looking forward to seeing your hunting videos! I'm just watching in order. thanks for the perch fest video. like always, I enjoyed watching!
Cool video buddy, my pops and I are heading out on the water Tuesday to Ashtabula here in North Dakota to get on some walleyes and crappies. Already chompin' at the bit to get some ice here but its going to be a while. Stay safe.
Hey Kyle I have herd that perch are definitely finicky around sonars!!! If I remember right even Jay Siemens in Canada put out a ice video the other day saying the same thing also i believe!! Him and a buddy was out trying to get the masters angler for perch where I believe you have to catch 5 perch with each one being over 13” in length for a master angler!! Or something like that!! I believe he was able to catch two over 13” and his buddy was able to get three or four!! They was definitely on there way to getting there master anglers reward!!!
Just a little hint for you. You should rig your plastic better so the whole rig sits horizontal not all side ways like you have it. Or try a rattle bait like a slab rap or something. Great footage though!
Was about to say the same thing around 11 mins the bait looks like crap. Get it straight and 100%horizontal. If I saw my jig on the cam like that it would be up in fixed immediately
I bet those big perch would tear a nightcrawler up. I never see ice fishermen using night crawlers.......why not?? Try it just once guys. No ice fishing for us up here in the mountains of East Tennessee. I would love to ice fish just once before I die.
When you have the camera like that and they are being finicky, try dropping your bait in to the sand move it a just a little let it set, works pretty good some of the time, perch are bottom feeders they root lots of stuff out of the bottom.
Just an observation.... Constant quick jigging sometimes makes them skittish. When they're lethargic slow everything down. Subtle slow movement or no movement can be the ticket.
That’s kinda what I was waiting to see, some monsters. Lake Erie/Detroit River area can offer some up to 14”. The inside width of a 5 gallon bucket is around 13”, that’s a quick measurement we use
love ur videos man, great job! one take away i can give u from my experience as i target perch all winter since i was 5 years old, if their reacting like that on camera u definitely gotta change it up, as noticed guys walking around while u we're talking about the fish on camera. if ur fishing less than 15 feet they hear everything, foot steps talking all the above.
Kyle man do you have patience. I think I would have gotten frustrated watch things just look and leave. There would have been a lot of bleep if it was me. Lol Stay safe this season.
@@denniscrane9753 Where? Around Milwaukee we had like 2 weeks of 5-8 inches then went away for 2 weeks and came back 4-6. Weather was bad last year here
Those jumbo jumbos just didn’t want to commit. I usually use a pencil slip bobber. Do pretty good. Don’t have a camera. Don’t know how many I miss. You know you’re a hardcore fisherman when you watch someone else catch fish
only a wisconsin fisherman would think catching a perch is a great thing. from the people who put all their brains together and gave us 'go pack go'. haha just messin' with you. (not really) thanks for clearing out the nuisance fish!
Ive only caught yellow perch accidentally while trout fishing in Colorado. Annoying little bait theives😂those are much better size than the little shits i was catching. Luckily there was plenty of cooperate trout
Something wrong with your bait/presentation the way they come in and then leave it alone. Don't keep fishing with it the same old way. Change the way it sits on the hook, change jig color or type. Try spitting on your bait to change the smell. Those fish should all be biting. They're not just being finicky. Something's wrong. Fix it if you want to catch fish.
I don't know which one of these guys started this trend, but I'm not into watching last year's ice fishing videos. it's a brand new year, edit and post those things 9 months ago... just like the old lady always living in the past. let's go. let's go!
Great quality fish. The underwater video was fun...those were finicky fish.
You bet Dave! I’ll have to try different things next time it was pretty cold that day
When the second perch showed up I knew that jumbo was going to suck it down! Awesome footage thanks for sharing 5:24
Those are some beauties, in a small lake in northern Wi, I caught one 21'' most people won't believe it!

🎣 can’t wait for first ice!
Is that anywhere near Treampleau, might get that way soon. How thick is the ice?
Some Sweet perch can’t wait to get on the ice , great vid
@4:45 that was a LEGIT 7 stripe perch lol. Sweet video!
Ohhhh first Ice vid I've watched!!! Can't wait. Sucks down here in IL we only get like a month of ice sometimes but I can't wait WOOOO
A 17 in 4pound perch came out of Austin Lake on a tip up in portage michigan 10 min from my house 15 years ago

Great stuff man
Those are beautiful and are the best fish to eat
Try a dark brown jig & trailer when they refuse the pink & white.
Can you tell me what type of guides are used on the fox river ice rods?
Dynaflow striper with stainless steel rings! The guides are also oversized to reduce ice buildup!
Wow, you guys must have small perch from where you are from . Here in NY, they look like average perch.
Nice perch, my biggest perch is 16”. You should use minnows for perch fishing, you’ll catch a lot more.
17 inchers on wigglers on my lake ....old rock quarry lake abandon in the 70's
Bait. Minnow hooked in the head, pinch the tail off, works every time for finicky fish.
No link for the black reel ??
Make sure your jig doesn't spin in circles... most fish will back away. Check for line twist. Fish on buddy
Can't wait to get on the ice. We're almost there just a few weeks to go
For real!
Nothing wrong with trying a new hole!

You have to be kidding right in thinking it was this year 🙄
Last year

sorry hunting
Working on it lol sitting in a tree at the moment

God it can be a little colder, temps are scaring me. I’m itching for the ice to hit😅
Amazing video! I know you don't want to give your spot away but any help?
Enjoy the fishery while it lasts. I just don’t see it holding out for that much longer unfortunately.
Wow
Your so underrated
14" perch are not uncommon on Oneida Lake NY (and other places as well) Never-the-less, nice fish!

New Subscriber ‼️ Crazy how finicky they were.
I'm sooo bummed. 2 years in a row, NO ICE! NW Ohio
You would add all of them fish
Me over here in Iowa still on my boat 😂🥲
This isn’t from this year. We aren’t froze yet.

really cool! bigger than those i film
Thanks!
This is making me hungry
Not a good idea eating anything out of Mississippi this year far north by where it starts
We tip our tiny jigs with small Emerald Shiners, cures the finicky fish syndrome......
R u a new fisherman? If u place your hand over the gills, their mouth opens. Its like a magic trick.
You should have put a Perch eye on the Hook

Nice nice. Fishing and hunting are all I know you can have your foosball and I’ll keep catching perch 😂
I live in shawano county I can't wait for first ice. I'm homeless and live out of my car so the lake is become my address this winter
How many fish do you need to watch swim away from that pink bukkake jig before you change colors 🤔 🤦♂️
Where are the hunting videos
Working on some!
You’re froze up already!?
Last years

Maybe if you didn't go fishing everyday there would be fish for other people to catch.
Seems like welfare fishing 🎣 to me. I am he who walks on water, I'm a Minnesota ice fisherman. ⚠️😎
Why don't you kill the fish when you decide to keep them? Why let them die by themselves?
The fish don’t tend to complain about it too much. They should speak up
Would not have caught that fish without that camera helping you! If
You do they should be released.

Always gotta try something new if they ain't biting
You are jigging to much try less movement and hitting bottom more.
And u kept it thats trash
Worst technique I ever seen
I agree way too much jiggin
Stop jigging so much!!
